Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript " The quality characteristic and fatty acid profile of cold-pressed hazelnut oils during nine months of storage" reports a very interesting study on the quality of hazelnut oils from Poland during storage. The title of the paper clearly reflects the content and the introduction states the scientific problem. The aim and scope of the work were clearly and precisely defined. However, in my opinion, the analysis of tocopherols during storage is missing. As mentioned in the manuscript, tocopherols protect the oil from oxidation and therefore it would be very interesting to monitor their content and composition during storage. In this case, a more meaningful conclusion could be drawn from the results. Moreover, the recommended cultivar, Nottinghsamski, had the lowest oil yield. The authors should also comment on this, as they recommended this cultivar for cold-pressing.

Minor issues:

Page 2, line 61-62…Which cultivars? Please define which cultivars.

Page 2, line 88…correct the text alignment below equation

Table 1…The names of cultivars should be in italic

Table 2 is redundant as the same results are present in Table 3. The authors should either remove Table 2 or present the main results in graphs.

-->Authors agree with the Reviewer’s suggestion According to the analysis of the tocopherols in oils during storage will be included to the next manuscript considering the tocopherols and other bioactive compounds in cold pressed hazelnut oils.

-->Moreover in conclusion section relevant information about choosing the most suitable hazelnut cv. was added.

Minor issues:

Page 2, line 61-62…Which cultivars? Please define which cultivars.

-->Following the Reviewer’s suggestion relevant information have been added

-->Following the Reviewer’s suggestion Table 2 was changed and presented as a graph.

Reviewer 2 Report

The subject of article is interesting. The manuscript is written in a clear way, easy to read and with appropriate reference to data in tables, but Authors should add more information about method, and conditions of experiment.

All suggestions are included in the manuscript.

Author Response

All changes according to the reviewer suggestion are added to the manuscript, all the suggestion about the experiment and methods are added to the text, mainly Line 73-78; Line 79; Line 82-83; Line 91-92.

The suggestion regarding quotes around given names of cultivars are changed in whole manuscript (i.e. Barceloński à ‘Barceloński’).

Moreover, the literature was corrected in whole manuscript.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

Table 3. is now Table 2.

Legend is missing for Table 2.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

We would like to apologize for omitting such an important detail. We changed the number of the table, as well as the legend to Fig. 2, and the title of table 2 was added. Thank you for your all comments.

Best regards,
