This paper presents a model based on a combination of two network configurations, inter-network connections and intra-network. They tested the cohesion on 204 R&D collaborations from the pharmaceutical industry, taken from recap database. The contribution of this study is through a dynamic model on collaborative learning. They tested the complementary effects between structural and relational configurations in the external and internal firm’s innovation ecosystem for sustainable knowledge acquisition performance.

The overall judge of this paper is positive. However, the limitations that the authors state in the summary and conclusions section as well as the use of descriptive statistics only lower the significane of this work.
