Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article examines an important topic of how business intelligence, strategic foresight, and knowledge management can enhance organizational performance and competitiveness.

Introduction: # The introduction provides good background on the telecom sector in Jordan and the need for future planning and sustainability. However, the research problem and objectives can be more clearly defined. The authors aim to examine the impacts of BI on SF and the moderating role of KM, but the specific research gap is not sharply articulated. # Recommend clearly stating the gap this study aims to address, and how it will contribute new insights compared to prior studies. Literature Review: # The literature review covers studies on the main concepts of BI, SF and KM. However, the linkages between these concepts can be further expanded and synthesized to build a stronger conceptual framework. # More recent studies on how BI provides inputs and insights for SF could be incorporated. Discuss how KM moderates the BI-SF relationship based on prior empirical evidence. # Some paragraphs seem disjointed - improve flow and connection between sections. Focus on studies relevant to the research objectives. Methodology: # For instrument development, cite original sources of scale items rather than referring to "different studies". Report reliability values from prior studies. Results and Discussion: # Interpret statistical results in relation to the hypotheses and research objectives. Compare findings with prior studies - do they align or diverge? # The discussion is very general. Relate back directly to the conceptual framework and research gap identified earlier. What new insights have been gained? Conclusion: # Summarize key findings and contributions of the study. Recommend concrete actions for telecom companies based on the findings. Acknowledge limitations of the research methodology and sample. Suggest future research directions.

With some refinement and additions as outlined above, this article will present a more robust scholarly study that delivers clear theoretical and empirical insights. I believe the article has strong potential for publication in this journal after minor revision.

Response to the first Reviewer

  1. Introduction:

Introduction:  The introduction provides a good background on the telecom sector in Jordan and the need for future planning and sustainability. However, the research problem and objectives can be more clearly defined.

In response to these comments: The introduction has been revised to provide a clearer definition of the research problem and objectives. The authors aim to examine the impacts of Business Intelligence on Sustainable Performance and the moderating role of Knowledge Management in the context of the telecom sector in Jordan. The specific research gap is now explicitly stated by adding a new paragraph: this study aims to address the gap in understanding how BI influences SF in this particular industry, and how KM moderates this relationship. By doing so, this research will contribute new insights compared to prior studies in the field.

  1. Literature Review:

Literature Review: # The literature review covers studies on the main concepts of BI, SF and KM. However, the linkages between these concepts can be further expanded and synthesized to build a stronger conceptual framework. # More recent studies on how BI provides inputs and insights for SF could be incorporated. Discuss how KM moderates the BI, SF relationship based on prior empirical evidence. # Some paragraphs seem disjointed - improve flow and connection between sections. Focus on studies relevant to the research objectives.

In response to these comments: The literature review has been improved by expanding and synthesizing the linkages between BI, SF, and KM adding recent studies on how BI provides inputs and insights for SF have been incorporated by adding new paragraphs, and the role of KM in moderating the BI, and SF relationship is discussed based on prior empirical evidence. The flow and connection between sections have been enhanced to provide a more coherent review, with a focus on studies directly relevant to the research objectives.

Methodology:

Methodology: # For instrument development, cite original sources of scale items rather than referring to "different studies". Report reliability values from prior studies.

In response to these comments: In the methodology section, the authors have now cited the original sources of scale items used for instrument development, providing greater transparency. Reliability values from prior studies have been reported for reference, ensuring the rigor of the research.

Results and Discussion:

Results and Discussion: # Interpret statistical results in relation to the hypotheses and research objectives. Compare findings with prior studies - do they align or diverge? # The discussion is very general. Relate back directly to the conceptual framework and research gap identified earlier. What new insights have been gained?

In response to these comments: The results and discussion section has been amended to interpret statistical findings in relation to the hypotheses and research objectives. Comparisons with prior studies have been made, highlighting alignments of findings. The discussion now directly relates to the conceptual framework and research gap, elucidating the new insights gained from the study.

Conclusion:

Conclusion: # Summarize key findings and contributions of the study. Recommend concrete actions for telecom companies based on the findings. Acknowledge the limitations of the research methodology and sample. Suggest future research directions.

In response to these comments: The conclusion section has been updated to summarize key findings and contributions of the study. Concrete actions for telecom companies based on the findings have been recommended. Acknowledgement of the limitations of the research methodology and sample has been included, along with suggestions for future research directions.

Reviewer 2 Report

The research presented in the article is a form of examining variables that enable strategic planning in an organisation. I understand the theoretical assumptions of the researchers, although I see rather limited possibilities of such research on the development of management science because of geographical (one country), industry (one industry) and the random sample as limitations.

The authors understand that the main weakness of their research is the research sample conducted in one country and in one industry. Therefore, this research should be treated as an introduction to future research carried out in other countries and in other industries.

The authors developed hypotheses based on the known literature, as well as conducted the questionnaire survey appropriately, and, in my opinion, used suitable analytical methods for the verification of the hypotheses. Without knowing the detailed data, the accuracy of the calculations cannot be confirmed, but the information presented allows me to conclude that they were performed correctly.

In summary, I recommend the article for publication because the research discussed is an important way to find the relationship between contemporary technological requirements and organisational performance. However, it should be noted that the proposed model should be further tested to be considered scientifically significant.

Response to the 2nd reviewers’ comments

Thank you for your thoughtful evaluation of the paper. Your feedback is valuable and provides valuable insights into the strengths and limitations of the research. I will address your points accordingly:

Reviewer comment 1: The authors understand that the main weakness of their research is the research sample conducted in one country and in one industry. Therefore, this research should be treated as an introduction to future research carried out in other countries and in other industries.

In response to these comments: I appreciate your concern regarding the geographical and industry limitations of the study. It is indeed a valid point that such constraints could limit the generalizability of the findings. The authors added this limitation and suggested that this research should be seen as an initial step, paving the way for future studies in different countries and industries.

Reviewer comment 2:  In summary, I recommend the article for publication because the research discussed is an important way to find the relationship between contemporary technological requirements and organisational performance. However, it should be noted that the proposed model should be further tested to be considered scientifically significant.

In response to these comments: Your recommendation for publication, with the caveat that further testing is needed for scientific significance, is well-considered. Publishing the research, especially as an introduction to a broader field of study, can contribute to the academic discourse and inspire future research. We highlighted the need for additional testing underscores the importance of this study as a stepping stone in the research domain.
