Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This study investigated the white meat supply networks, value chains, and both small-scale and large-scale white meat industries in Dubai. The study obtained data from documents, publications, and surveys to discuss the challenges and opportunities for Dubai’s white meat supply. The authors further provide recommendations to improve the chicken production and food security in Dubai.

Page 6: For Table 2,3,4, is it possible to include another column to present the frequency of each topic that was discussed by the interviewer? This would help audiences to easily understand the priority of each topic.

Page 7: in figure 1. There are 2 repeatable boxes named “Ministry of Climate Change and Environment/Dubai Municipality” by each other. Is one of these mislabeled? If not, could the author further explain why having two same boxes by each other?

Page 16: Could the author give the definition of chilled poultry in terms of the temperature? It would provide a more clear comparison between chilled poultry and frozen chicken.

Page 17: Is there a correlation between the micronutrient deficiencies and the chicken meat consumption in Dubai? Other food resources may contain higher micronutrients than chicken meat, therefore, it may not be appropriate to discuss the micronutrient deficiencies due to the chicken consumption.

Page 25: In 3.8, the authors listed many bullet points to address the challenges. Are these challenges ranked in the order of the listing? If not, I would recommend arranging them by the order of priority.

Reviewer 2 Report

After reading through this article, I feel that the logic is rigorous, the content is rich, and the argument is sufficient. The analysis of the development prospect of white meat factory is very in place. There may be some grammatical problems that need to be improved, but they are all minor ones.
