Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In the submitted paper entitled “Exploring the Weekly Travel Patterns of Private Vehicles Using Automatic Vehicle Identification Data: A Case Study of Wuhan, China” a weekly travel patterns of private vehicles were used to classify spatial traffic hot spots by camera locations. The proposed results are relatively new and the topic will be interesting for the audience. Authors gave a good oerwiev of the literature, and the method is adequately described. However, some additional comment and explanation are missing. Reviewer suggest minor revision. All comments are listed bellow

Author neglect four of the six days for the reason of the overcast. Unfortunately, bad weather, primarily rain are the reasons to people to use private vehicles instead of public transport. This can affect transport dynamics and analyzed results. Authors should comment the Ethical issue related to the data management. Authors should comments the advantages of the proposed techniques and compare it advantages/disadvantages with other recently proposed in the literature, as well as the benefit of using its combination with a others techniques that include public traffic, taxi GPS or similar.

Reviewer 2 Report

Interesting and well organized papers.

It combines traditional clustering methods with the availability of traffic data to detect travel behaviours in still little explored urban areas.

The paper presenting interesting elements and suggestion and it is, other than well structured, also reinforced by a sound literature review on the topics.
