Cover Story: Pandemic management is crucial, focusing on learning from COVID-19 for evidence-based infection prevention and control. Contact tracing is key to breaking transmission chains, identifying exposed individuals, and providing guidance on testing and self-isolation. This study aims to understand contact tracing technologies in healthcare to prevent nosocomial infections and improve healthcare safety. A systematic review of OvidSP databases from March to September 2022 analyzed 277 studies, with 14 included in the final review. Most studies examined proximity sensing technologies, showing promising results but limited by small sample sizes and confounding factors. Investment in new technologies is needed to enhance contact tracing capabilities. This review supports developing robust surveillance and infectious disease reporting systems. View this paper
