Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is a well written manuscript that presents results of an important study. It demonstrates that managing forests for trees and mushrooms is possible, and provides forest managers good insights on how to do that. I have a few minor suggestions to improve the document.

The location of the study needs clarification: line 24 states northern, line 104 - Northwestern and line 336 - northern, Please be consistent

Keywords, alphabetize and add "nonwood forest products'

line 60 and line 119 -- no need for 'in order' to; just state 'to'...

line 122 -- how many plots were established in 2014.

Line 131 -- what is the year of the study? in line 109 from 2003 to 2014. Then line 122 2014/

line 154 - the last sentence states the obvious; either change it or get rid.

line 184 -- ending the sentence with 'was looked for' is bad grammar. Rewrite this sentence

line 185 -- LMM is not defined

Lines 189-202 -- check lower cases, subscripts and superscripts. Line 195 "TSPs' should be TsPs?

line 211-215 -- fix subscripts

line 256 -- redundancies 'Correlation analysis indicated significant correlations'

lines 297 - 309 -- this was said once (lines 225-239) Perhaps there is a better way to state this, again

Figures 2 and 3 -- not readable. too small? perhaps in the final version the text will come across better, but the way the figures are presented they are not readable

line 312 - caption for figure 3 - where did explanation for (I) go?

These minor changes will make this a much better manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

Lines 88 – 93: Add common names for the reader (if known).

Line 108: Please clarify who performed sample collection. If sampling required permission please add information regarding the sampling permit.

Line 115: Include who identified the samples to the genus or species level and add if

any taxonomic keys that were used.

Line 143: Also clarify here who performed sampling.

Line 346 and then throughout the text. Placing the reference at the beginning of the sentence made me think that sentences are incomplete. Perhaps this can be improved by adding actual author names?

Figures: Increase font size of text and numbers at X and Y axes.

I'll leave comments regarding the productivity model to fellow peer reviewres with proper practical expertise in this field.
