the paper discusses a very old issue whereas there are many similar analysis in the literature with no new contribution

Undoubtedly, changes in irradiance are an important factor affecting the efficiency of a photovoltaic system, while there are many ways to achieve greater efficiency of power generation in these systems.

What is missing in this paper is a comparison of other methods to increase the efficiency of a photovoltaic system. This should at least be mentioned and some works should be cited.

Also missing, in my opinion, is an assessment of how strongly the prepared algorithm improves efficiency compared to other similar solutions.

It should also be mentioned what happens in the literature when it comes to P&O algorithms and what other solutions are used. In my opinion, this issue is not clearly explained.

I also think that the analysis of the obtained results itself is too short and in some places very confusing, it should be clarified.

I also think that the literature itself that has been used is very well chosen, as there is no shortage of papers from the Q1 quartile.

I believe that the paper, after modifications, should be published.

The authors study the Effect of Irradiance Variability on the Performance Efficiency of the maximum power point tracking algorithm. The article is relevant and although the objectives are very well stated and the results are rigorous; the authors should make some improvements to increase the quality of the article; most of the improvements are related to the structure of the article.

1. The abstract has many sentences starting with "we": the authors should start their sentences with expressions such as "It was improved or has been improved"; "it was studied or has been studied".

2. The introduction is rather poor. Authors should be reinforced in impact articles such as:

Kabir, E., Kumar, P., Kumar, S., Adelodun, A. A., & Kim, K. H. (2018). Solar energy: Potential and future prospects. Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews. Elsevier Ltd. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rser.2017.09.094

Biyik, E., Araz, M., Hepbasli, A., Shahrestani, M., Yao, R., Shao, L., ... Atlı, Y. B. (2017). A key review of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems. Engineering Science and Technology, an International Journal. Elsevier B.V. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jestch.2017.01.009

3. I am curious to know how the hardware components influence the quantification of losses. Justify this answer in the results.

4. A discussion of the results is missing; where the authors can compare the results obtained in this article with those achieved by other researchers. For example:

Kumar, N. M., Sudhakar, K., & Samykano, M. (2019). Performance comparison of BAPV and BIPV systems with c-Si, CIS and CdTe photovoltaic technologies under tropical weather conditions. Case Studies in Thermal Engineering, 13. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.csite.2018.100374. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.csite.2018.100374

Jately, V., Azzopardi, B., Joshi, J., Venkateswaran V, B., Sharma, A., & Arora, S. (2021, October 1). Experimental Analysis of hill-climbing MPPT algorithms under low irradiance levels. Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews. Elsevier Ltd. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rser.2021.111467

5. The conclusions should be reinforced not only by highlighting the milestones achieved, but also the lines of research that this research opens up.

6. Justify well what relationship exists between irradiance variability and the efficiency of the P&O MPP tracking algorithm. Justify the divergence of the algorithm that leads to a systematic decrease in efficiency. Give examples of wrong choices of algorithm parameters and module tilt and quantitatively how this can affect the efficiency on highly variable days.

7. By enriching the introduction and creating a section for discussion of the results, the impact literature references should be enriched; they are a bit low.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

I appreciate authors response but even the variability issues as well as the impact of sudden change on system’s performance is also discussed about 15 years ago in many papers

Reviewer 2 Report

In my opinion, all required corrections have been made.

The work shows in a very good way the effect of irradiance on the efficiency of a photovoltaic system.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors have made the corrections indicated to them and have defended their views with arguments.

The article has gained in quality and I have nothing more to add.
