Reviewer 2 Report

This is an important article; don't rush it.  It will have a higher impact if it is reviewed and edited with the following points in mind:

Advantages

Clear presentation of what Islamic finance is & useful information about its size and characteristics. Bad word choices, however, do distract readers.  Line 155 inculcate (which means instill) makes no sense; calculate was the word you needed. A very balanced sense of the internal and external challenges to Islamic finance, including the tendency toward stratagems (a well-meaning, yet destructive, internal challenge) and pressures from global capital toward the achievement of bottom line goals. Innovative method; steering away from the meaningless obsession with quantitative data to the benefit of listening to those who understand Islamic financial processes. Overall, an attentive reader will understand how ‘tawidh’ (which also ought to be explained at first appearance) differs from simple infliction of interest with the passage of time. This is the centerpiece of any conceptual analysis of how Islamic finance handles the impact of time on money.

Disadvantages

Language issues, eg. line 137: ‘The banks owns’ should either be the bank owns or the banks own; line 119 comprises does not need of; lines 54-5: ‘there are misconceptions exist’ should become either ‘misconceptions exist’ or ‘there are misconceptions;’ lines 40 & 53: definite articles missing; line 48: fiancé should be finance----review for other grammar and style deficiencies AAOIFI is never even once identified as the 1991 standards for Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions; BNM should also be spelled out as Bank Negara Malaysia at its first appearance. Review all acronyms.
