Topic Information

Dear Colleagues,

The journals Environments, Processes, Separations, Water, JETA and ChemEngineering have launched a multi-disciplinary Research Topic on “Advanced Processes and Technologies for Wastewater: Collection, Treatment, and Resource” and are inviting researchers, experts, and professionals from global research institutions, universities, and organizations to contribute their latest research achievements in this field. This Topic focuses on wastewater collection and transport (e.g., drainage system, sewer pipeline, harmful gas, corrosion, water quality, hydrodynamics, or sediment), wastewater treatment (e.g., separation, biodegradation, sedimentation, or adsorption), and wastewater resources (e.g., anaerobic fermentation or wastewater reuse). Manuscripts related to monitoring, modeling, prediction, and system optimization are also welcome. In this Topic, we aim to share the latest research achievements to promote the development of drainage and wastewater treatment systems. The submission of original research and review papers is particularly encouraged.

In particular, Environments focuses on advances, issues, and challenges related to environmental systems, welcoming submissions on water and wastewater management.

Processes focuses on the engineering and optimization of chemical, biological, and physical processes, welcoming submissions that advance process intensification, reactor design, and system integration for wastewater treatment and resource recovery applications.

Separations specializes in separation science and technology, inviting contributions on processes, adsorption, extraction, and other separation techniques crucial for pollutant removal, water purification, and resource recovery from wastewater streams.

Water addresses the broad spectrum of water science and management, encouraging submissions on wastewater systems, environmental impact assessment, and integrated water resource strategies within wastewater collection, treatment, and reuse systems.

JETA (Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Analyses) contributes its specific focus on experimental and theoretical methodologies, welcoming submissions that advance the understanding of analytical techniques—such as monitoring systems, sensor-based approaches, and predictive modeling—applied to the complex challenges of wastewater collection, treatment, and resource recovery.

ChemEngineering emphasizes chemical engineering principles and their practical applications, welcoming research on transport phenomena, reaction engineering, and process design innovations for wastewater treatment and valorization technologies.

Preprints.org is a multidisciplinary platform offering a preprint service designed to facilitate the early sharing of your research. It supports and empowers your research journey from the very beginning.

MDPI Topics is collaborating with Preprints.org and has established a direct connection between MDPI journals and the platform. Authors are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by posting their preprints at Preprints.org prior to publication:

  1. Share your research immediately: disseminate your ideas prior to publication and establish priority for your work.
  2. Safeguard your intellectual contribution: Protect your ideas with a time-stamped preprint that serves as proof of your research timeline.
  3. Boost visibility and impact: Increase the reach and influence of your research by making it accessible to a global audience.
  4. Gain early feedback: Receive valuable input and insights from peers before submitting to a journal.
  5. Ensure broad indexing: Web of Science (Preprint Citation Index), Google Scholar, Crossref, SHARE, PrePubMed, Scilit and Europe PMC.
