Sustainable Energy Technologies for Eco Cities and Environment—Papers from the 18th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies (SET2019)

Dear Colleagues,

People often find the biggest and best opportunities in cities. This is driving increasing levels of urbanisation around the world. In fact, more than 1.4 billion people are expected to be living in cities by 2050. When considering the challenges of climate change and the need to cut carbon around the world, cities are currently responsible for 70% of the global greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption. Fortunately, today there is enormous potential to reduce these emissions through cost-effective energy efficiency measures delivering immediate cost and carbon savings and, at the same time, strengthening the local economy and creating a better place to live. As urban populations have continued to grow and become more economically prosperous, their consumption of energy and of key resources in the cities have correspondingly increased. This means that when it comes to sustainability, the biggest and best opportunities are also most often found in cities. Alongside urbanisation there has been a period of remarkable economic growth, leading to an explosion of energy demand and carbon emissions. Thus, it has become essential to find more efficient and effective ways to implement green technology for future eco cities.

The 18^th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies (SET2019) was held on 20–22 August, 2019, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The theme of the Conference was Sustainable Energy Technologies towards the New Revolution.

The SET2019 Conference focused on topics such as energy technology and renewables, energy storage and conversion, low carbon buildings and sustainable cities, and policies and management.

Authors who presented high-quality papers at the SET2019 conference are invited to submit follow-up articles extending their presented research for this Special Issue. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
