Unlike static comments, which are typically located below online videos, live comments affect consumers’ video-watching experiences in real time and may influence their evaluation of the video in distinct ways. Despite the significance of live comments, few studies have explored the differentiated effects of live comments vs. static comments on user evaluation of online videos. Utilizing a dataset comprising approximately two million pieces of textual data from a leading Chinese online video platform, our findings reveal substantial differences between the effects of live and static comments, with these effects varying by video type (informational versus emotional) and showing notable changes during health threats. This study examines the differential impact of live vs. static comments, providing empirical evidence for distinct information processing pathways under varying time constraints. Our results shed light on the underlying mechanisms responsible for the diverse effects of different forms of social interaction, offering valuable theoretical insights. They also have managerial implications regarding how online video platforms can facilitate engagement among viewers and between video creators and their audiences. Full article

The proliferation of the Internet and mobile devices has made it increasingly easy to propagate rumors on social media. Widespread rumors can incite public panic and have detrimental effects on individuals. In recent years, researchers have found that both the spatial structure of rumor diffusion and the temporal features of propagation can be effective in identifying rumors. However, existing methods tend to focus on either spatial structure or temporal information in isolation, and few models can effectively capture both types of information. Additionally, most existing methods treat continuously changing temporal information as static snapshots, neglecting the precise timing of propagation. Moreover, as users repost and comment, background knowledge associated with the posts also evolves dynamically, which is often ignored. To address these limitations, we propose CGNKP (Continuous-time Dynamic Graph Networks integrated with Knowledge Propagation), a model that jointly captures the spatial structure and continuous-time features of post propagation to fully understand the dynamics of background knowledge. Specifically, we introduce a novel method for encoding continuous-time dynamic graphs, modeling the propagation process through two dynamic graphs: a temporal propagation graph (for posts diffusion) and a temporal knowledge graph (for knowledge diffusion). Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that CGNKP significantly outperforms multiple strong baselines, achieving accuracies of 0.861 on the Twitter15 dataset and 0.903 on the Twitter16 dataset. Sport Vision is a speciality of multidisciplinary interest aimed at improving the performance of the visual system to achieve benefits in practiced sports, as well as in daily life and in preventive care. The type of training practiced by the athlete, his or her physical condition, cognitive level, and level of fatigue condition affects the speed of the reaction time and, consequently, the speed of motor response. Specific orthoptic exercises, the use of technological devices, the recovery of static and dynamic postural stability by using unstable platforms and the dual-task paradigm can help to achieve the expected results. The aim of this systematic review of Sport Vision was to assess the overall existing literature on Sport Vision, paying particular attention to the effects of visual training and its application in different sports and in rehabilitation and preventive settings. We analysed published English language studies about the role of sport vision in athletic performance from 1950 to 2023. We searched through the Medline database. The PRISMA 2020 checklist was used to assess the transparency and reproducibility of this review. The enrolled papers were evaluated with the Jadad Scale, Amstar 2 Scale and Newcastle–Ottawa Scale. 25 (16 studies, 5 reviews, 2 comments, 1 editorial, 1 descriptive paper) out of 476 studies met the inclusion criteria. Due to the variability in the age of the samples, the different techniques, the treatments among the participants in the studies and the finding of non-evaluable articles, a meta-analysis was not conducted. The limitations of this review are the single database research, the studies analyzed contain a non-statistically representative sample size and the lack of a control group. There is no standardized test to measure performance. It was shown that the development of visual skills can benefit athletes in injury prevention, and can lead to improved sports performance and motor function at any age, acquiring adaptive motor behaviour even when the visual system is impaired, due to task repetition and familiarity of the gesture. We intended to identify a multidisciplinary approach and a manual treatment scheme to optimize the circuitry involved in sport vision in order to increase the results that are achieved, but further studies will be needed to this end. This study aimed to improve an existing static benchmarking tool for the economic sustainability of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the wine sector to develop and elevate it into a dynamic online dashboard decision support system (DSS) for economic sustainability. Development was conducted in line with a user-centered-development process in four main steps. In the first step, producers’ expectations for an optimal tool were elicited using a qualitative approach of 24 in-depth interviews with long-term users of the existing PDF reports. Among the 10 requirements, producers requested an overall summary assessment of the most important KPIs of their business (including the provision of ideal values), intuitive visual presentations, long-term time developments, flexible reference groups, and short comments. Based on the wine producers’ systemized responses, the first version of the online benchmarking tool was designed and implemented in cooperation with experienced online designers and programmers. In the third step, a usability test was conducted to elicit options for further improvements that were implemented before the fourth step, the release of the final version to the industry. The systematic development process outlined and established here and the released DSS tool that is publicly available with open access provide valuable insights for institutions planning similar future dashboards for other sectors, particularly for SMEs. This constitutes an important step toward the development of more holistic support tools for sustainability performance measurement across all pillars of sustainability moving forward. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the DSS developed represents the first online dashboard tool for economic sustainability for SMEs globally and in the wine sector. Full article

Improving the quality of healthcare services is of the utmost importance in healthcare systems. Patient experience is a key aspect that should be gauged and monitored continuously. However, the measurement of such a vital indicator typically cannot be carried out directly, instead being derived from the opinions of patients who usually express their experience in free text. When it comes to patient comments written in the Arabic language, the currently used strategy to classify Arabic comments is totally reliant on human annotation, which is time-consuming and prone to subjectivity and error. Thus, fully using the value of patient feedback in a timely manner is difficult. This paper addresses the problem of classifying patient experience (PX) comments written in Arabic into 25 classes by using deep learning- and BERT-based models. A real-world data set of patient comments is obtained from the Saudi Ministry of Health for this purpose. Features are extracted from the data set, then used to train deep learning-based classifiers—including BiLSTM and BiGRU—for which pre-trained static word embedding and pre-training vector word embeddings are utilized. Furthermore, we utilize several Arabic pre-trained BERT models, in addition to building PX_BERT, a customized BERT model using the PX unlabeled database. From the experimental results for the 28 classifiers built in this study, the best-performing models (based on the F1 score) are found to be PX_BERT and AraBERTv02. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to tackle PX comment classification for the Arabic language. Full article

As an ancient performing art, the puppet show was popular entertainment for early civilians. However, with the advance of media technology, traditional puppetry declined gradually, and old puppets became relics displayed in museums. In this study, an interactive role-play system for learning and sustaining traditional glove puppetry is proposed. Constructed with RFID and multimedia techniques to replace the traditional static displays of puppetry, the proposed system allows in-person experiencing of operating real puppets of famous roles. Statistical analyses of the comments collected from expert interviews and the users’ answers to a questionnaire survey lead to the following findings: (1) it is easy to understand and operate the puppets as physical interfacing with the system; (2) the interactive system design conforms to the 3E indicators of easiness, effectiveness, and enjoyableness; (3) the users’ experiences of role-plays emulating experts’ puppet shows help learn the knowledge and skills of the traditional puppetry; (4) in-person operations of real puppets and experiences of RFID-based interactive interfacing bring the users feelings of pleasure and senses of achievement as puppet performers; and (5) the content designs and operations of the puppet characters can turn into a fine material for learning the traditional puppetry. Recent developments in modeling and analysis of nanostructures are illustrated and discussed in this paper. Starting with the early theories of nonlocal elastic continua, a thorough investigation of continuum nano-mechanics is provided. Two-phase local/nonlocal models are shown as possible theories to recover consistency of the strain-driven purely integral theory, provided that the mixture parameter is not vanishing. Ground-breaking nonlocal methodologies based on the well-posed stress-driven formulation are shown and commented upon as effective strategies to capture scale-dependent mechanical behaviors. Static and dynamic problems of nanostructures are investigated, ranging from higher-order and curved nanobeams to nanoplates. Geometrically nonlinear problems of small-scale inflected structures undergoing large configuration changes are addressed in the framework of integral elasticity. Nonlocal methodologies for modeling and analysis of structural assemblages as well as of nanobeams laying on nanofoundations are illustrated along with benchmark applicative examples. Full article

Aiming at the problem that the existing Point of Interest (POI) recommendation model in social network big data is difficult to extract deep feature information, a POI recommendation model based on deep learning in social networks and big data is proposed in this article. The input data are all gathered through intelligent sensors to apply some raw data pre-processing tasks and thus reduce the computational burden on the model. First, a POI static feature extraction method based on symmetric matrix decomposition is designed to capture the geographical location and POI category features in Location-Based Social Networking (LBSN). Second, the improved Continuous Bags-of-Words (CBOW) model is used to extract the semantic features in the user comment information, and realize the implicit vector representation of POI in geographic, category, semantic and temporal feature space. Finally, by adaptively selecting relevant check-in activities from the check-in history to learn and change user preferences, the Geographical-Spatiotemporal Gated Recurrent Unit Network (GSGRUN) can distinguish the user preferences of different check-in. Experiments show that when the length of the recommendation list is 15, the precision of the proposed algorithm on the loc-Gowalla data set is 0.0686, the recall is 0.0769, and the precision on the loc-Brightkite data set is 0.0659, the recall is 0.0835, both of which are better than the comparative recommendation methods. Therefore, compared with the comparison methods, the proposed method can significantly improve the performance of the POI recommendation system. Full article

This paper presents the results of a research study and analysis conducted to determine the degree of anisotropy of asphalt concrete in terms of its initial elastic properties. The analysis of asphalt concrete was focused on determining the effective constrained stiffness modulus in three mutually perpendicular directions based on the finite element method. The internal structure of the asphalt concrete was divided into the mortar phase and the mineral aggregate phase. Static creep tests using the Bending Beam Rheometer were conducted for the mortar phase to fit the rheological model. The aggregate arrangement and orientation were analysed using an image analytical technique for the mineral phase. The Finite Element Method (FEM) meshes were prepared based on grey images with an assumption of plane strain in 2D formulation. Using the FEM model, the tension/compression tests using selected characteristic directions were conducted, and the effective constrained stiffness moduli were estimated. This study showed a dominant horizontal direction for all coarse aggregates resulting from the normal force of the road roller and paving machines during laying and compaction on a road site. Depending on the values of the mortar’s mechanical parameters and the load direction, the effective stiffness modulus might differ by ±20%. Based on the FEM analysis, this result was proven and commented on through an effective directional modulus evaluation and a presentation of internal stress distribution. Depending on the shape and orientation of the aggregates, it was possible to observe local “stress bridging” (transferring stresses from aggregate to aggregate when contacting). Moreover, the rheological properties of the mortar were considered by assuming two limiting situations (instantaneous and relaxed moduli), determining the bands of all possible solutions. In the performed FEM analysis, the influence of the Poisson ratio was also considered. The analysed asphalt concrete tends to be isotropic when the Poisson’s mortar ratio is close to the value of 0.5, which agrees with the physical expectations. The obtained results are limited to particular asphalt concrete and should not be extrapolated to other asphalt mixture types without prior analysis. Full article

In the present paper, a procedure is presented for the evaluation of the safety factor and the limit conditions of masonry arches subject to gravity loadings. The proposed procedure can be considered an extension of Heyman’s method for determining the geometrical safety factor. At variance with Heyman’s method, herein, the analysis of the static safety condition for the arch is performed by means of modified kinematic configurations of the arch obtained by encompassing settlements at the arch constraints. Furthermore, the procedure allows the identification of the critical locations of the hinges in the arch at the limit conditions. Moreover, the present procedure allows the determination of the geometrical vertical displacement that the crown of the arch can accommodate at the safety limit conditions. Finally, the proposed procedure is applied to a real case in order to show its effectiveness. Numerical results are reported and commented on in order to clarify the application of the proposed procedure for the definition of the safety factor of the arched structure and the evaluation of the critical geometrical configuration compatible with the limit conditions of the arch. The Carbon Emissions Effect of China’s OFDI on Countries along the “Belt and Road”

With the continuous practice of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the countries along the “Belt and Road” have achieved rapid social and economic development. However, environmental problems have become increasingly prominent. Around the world, there are comments that China’s “Belt and Road” initiative is a result of resource plundering, transfer of backward production capacity, and environmental degradation of countries along the line. This study quantitatively evaluated the static, dynamic, linear, and non-linear effects of China’s foreign direct investment on the carbon emissions of countries along the line. The results showed that: (1) The direct effect of China’s foreign direct investment on the carbon emissions of countries along the route was significantly negative. (2) The economic scale and industrial structure effects of China’s foreign direct investment increased the carbon emissions of countries along the route. The production technology effect suppressed the carbon emissions of countries along the route and played a leading role. (3) The estimation results of the system generalized method of moments showed that the carbon emissions of countries along the route were significantly affected by the lag period, but the impact was small. (4) The results of the threshold regressive model showed that the GDP and proportion of industrial added value had significant threshold effects on the carbon emissions effect of China’s outward foreign direct investment. When the GDP of countries along the route exceeded 7.2696, China’s outward foreign direct investment carbon emissions reduction effect could not be realized; when the proportion of the industrial added value of countries along the route was lower than 4.0106, China’s outward foreign direct investment carbon emission reduction effect could not be realized. Based on the research conclusion, we concluded that China and countries along the “Belt and Road” should strengthen cooperation on carbon emissions reduction, jointly promote low-carbon construction of industrial parks, accelerate cooperation on green energy projects, and establish a green development fund to achieve sustainable development of the countries along the “Belt and Road”. The main aim of the study includes research concerning the strength of samples printed out of 316L steel in the form of laminates and the creation of reflective simulation models with regard to the results obtained during the research. In addition, the tests addressed the effect of the arrangement of the printed layers on the final strength of the object. Static tensile tests allowed the material constants of 316L steel in the form of dimensionally printed laminate to be determined. Tests were conducted on samples with different printed angles. The tests also covered the impact of the printing envelope on samples with the printing angles. Based on the determined material constants, simulation models for calculations using the finite element method were created. Furthermore, the study includes analytical and simulation calculations of plain laminate in order to verify the accuracy of the Composite Layup module in Abaqus CAE software. The study was summarized by compiling and commenting on the results obtained from the conducted research. Tests showed that there is a possibility of simulating the strength of the printouts from 316L steel using the FEM calculations. It was shown that the FEM model results are similar to those obtained in the tests. The calculated errors were from 3.6 to 14.4%. The linear model describes well the first part of the stress–strain curve, but in further research, it is strongly recommended that a proper and checked nonlinear anisotropic one is presented. Background. As a new medical service model, the online health community can integrate various medical resources to the maximum extent and improve the accessibility and utilization rate of hospital high-quality medical resources. Objective. Research based on the characteristics of doctors can enable doctors to display themselves on the network platform better, provide better services for patients, and improve the quality of medical services for doctors. Method. By crawling the characteristic data of doctors in Good Doctor Online, using dynamic analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, this study explores the relationships between each characteristic data and online consultation volume. Results. The doctor’s title and city level representing the static characteristics of the doctor have a weak impact on the doctor’s online consultation volume, and the doctor’s dynamic characteristics such as the number of patient completions, the number of gifts received, and the number of published articles can have a positive impact on the doctor’s online consultation volume. However, the recommended heat will negatively affect the online consultation volume, and the comment text has no significant impact on the doctor’s online consultation volume. Conclusion. Therefore, doctors should actively publicize and show their professional level and constantly optimize their dynamic characteristics, increasing the number of online consultations and thus improving their influence. The article considers stationary and dynamic distributions of news by the number of comments. The processing of the observed data showed that static distribution of news by the number of comments relating to that news obeys a power law, and the dynamic distribution (the change in number of comments over time) in some cases has an S-shaped character, and in some cases a more complex two-stage character. This depends on the time interval between the appearance of a comment at the first level and a comment attached to that comment. The power law for the stationary probability density of news distribution by the number of comments can be obtained from the solution of the stationary Fokker-Planck equation, if a number of assumptions are made in its derivation. In particular, we assume that the drift coefficient μ(x) responsible in the Fokker-Planck equation for a purposeful change in the state of system x (x is the current number of comments on that piece of news) linearly depends on the state x, and the diffusion coefficient D(x) responsible for a random change depends quadratically on x. The solution of the unsteady Fokker-Planck differential equation with these assumptions made it possible to obtain an analytical equation for the probability density of transitions between the states of the system per unit of time, which is in good agreement with the observed data, considering the effect of the delay time between the appearance of the first-level comment and the comment on that comment. We discuss the process of particle creation in the case of a scalar quantum field confined to a small cavity, initially at rest, which is suddenly dropped in a static gravitational field. We show that, due to the transition from a Schwarzschild to a Minkowski background, as perceived by a comoving observer, field particles are excited out of the quantum vacuum. The density of the created quanta depends on the proper gravitational acceleration as well as on a parameter α1/Δt, with Δt representing the typical time duration of the transition. For the specific acceleration profile considered, the energy spectrum of the created quanta roughly resembles a two-dimensional Planckian distribution, whose equivalent temperature mimics the Hawking-Unruh temperature, with the detector acceleration (or the black hole surface gravity) replaced by the parameter cα. We briefly comment on possible issues related to local Lorentz symmetry. Full article
