This study examines how parental legal status operates as a fundamental social determinant of health and educational equity, focusing on long-term outcomes among U.S.-born and foreign-born children of immigrants. We hypothesized that intergenerational stress and institutional exclusion associated with undocumented status would lead to lower educational attainment and poorer health. Using data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health), a nationally representative cohort, participants were classified by inferred parental legal status: native-born, documented immigrant, and undocumented immigrant. Outcomes included high school graduation, college enrollment, depression scores, and chronic health conditions. Children of undocumented parents exhibited the most adverse outcomes—lower graduation (63.8%) and college enrollment rates (39.9%), higher depression, and greater chronic illness. In models controlling for socioeconomic factors, parental undocumented status independently predicted reduced odds of college enrollment (OR = 0.61, p < 0.001) and increased odds of reporting fair/poor health (OR = 2.10, p < 0.001). Findings highlight legal precarity as a potent driver of intergenerational disadvantage and underscore the need for policies addressing the barriers faced by children in undocumented families to promote health and educational equity. Recent research has documented both questionable and responsible research practices in published psychology research, but it is unclear which research practices psychology students engage in when graduating from their master’s program. In this study, we documented the prevalence of responsible and questionable research practices in 300 psychology master’s theses from Tilburg University, the Netherlands, and associated these practices with supervisor’s grading of the theses. Compared to authors of published scientific manuscripts, master’s students seemed to engage more in responsible research practices, conducted more power analyses, used larger sample sizes, reported fewer statistically significant results, and provided more detailed reporting of their results. However, statistical reporting errors were almost as common in master’s theses as they are in the published literature. We found no relationship between thesis grades and any of the responsible or questionable research practices. We also found no relationships among practices, suggesting that there is no unidimensional construct of “responsible scientific behavior”. Full article

The gastronomic identity represents a blend of tradition, local resources, and cultural values that shape the authenticity and distinctiveness of a region’s gastronomy. Mačva, as an area in western Serbia, possesses an exceptionally rich gastronomic heritage whose tourism potential has not been sufficiently valorized. The subject of this research is the examination of the gastronomic identity of Mačva, and the purpose of the study is to determine how domestic tourists perceive the region’s gastronomic identity, which factors shape this identity, and the extent to which socio-demographic and perceptual characteristics influence the likelihood of purchasing traditional food products. The aim of this research is to develop an analytical framework to identify the key factors shaping the gastronomic identity of the Mačva region and to examine their influence on domestic tourists’ perceptions and consumer behavior related to the consumption and purchase of traditional food. The data were processed using exploratory factor analysis and binary logistic regression. The results indicate that respondents recognize the gastronomic culture of Mačva as an important component of the region’s cultural identity. The factor structure confirmed a three-dimensional model of gastronomic identity, comprising cultural–gastronomic heritage, authenticity and the promotion of gastronomy, and the region’s economic and social development. The results suggest that tourists’ intention to purchase traditional products is shaped by selected socio-demographic and perceptual factors, particularly gender and perceptions of gastronomy as a driver of economic and social development. The findings highlight the need for a differentiated approach to the development and positioning of the gastronomic offer, which may serve as a basis for formulating strategies for the development and branding of the Mačva region. This article interrogates how an everyday Facebook user in Nigeria adopts AI-generated images as a sustained mode of online and digital self-presentation. This study situates this practice within debates on posthumanity, aesthetic labour, and platform affordance. Drawing on a qualitative case study of a pseudonymised account (“Ada Alika”), this article analyses 25 AI-generated self-images posted between February and September 2025 alongside 25 non-AI-generated images. Using a triangulated methodological approach that combines media archaeology, online observation, and visual thematic analysis, the article describes how generative AI functions as an aesthetic and ontological collaborator in the construction of online selfhood. The results from the analysis are organised around three interconnected themes: “Posthuman and Hyperreal Self”, Aesthetic Labour and AI-mediated Persona”, and High Audience Engagement. The analysis indicates that AI-generated images produce a hyperreal self that exceeds naturalistic representation while remaining socially legible and desirable. These images demand sustained aesthetic labour and align closely with Facebook’s attention economy, resulting in markedly higher engagement than non-AI images. Audience interactions further reveal a level of visual literacy in which distinctions between the real, artificial, and aspirational are fluidly negotiated. By foregrounding a non-Western and non-influencer context, this article extends existing scholarship on AI-mediated selfhood and demonstrates how AI-generated images on Facebook reshapes everyday practices of self-representation and visibility in online digital culture. The acceptance of, perceived advantages to, and skepticism toward the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in undergraduate education is investigated in this paper. In this study, a total of 675 students from six Romanian universities answered a self-administered online questionnaire evaluating three main aspects: AI acceptance, AI benefits, and AI skepticism. While AI skepticism has a modest but substantial negative influence (β = −0.113, p = 0.001), results show that AI benefits favorably predict AI acceptance (β = 0.541, p = 0.001). Whereas AI skepticism negatively correlates with AI acceptance (r = −0.124, p = 0.001), correlational analysis reveals a high positive association between AI acceptance and AI benefits (r = 0.544, p = 0.001). Despite concerns about its limitations, the regression model suggests that students’ willingness to embrace AI in education is mostly driven by its perceived advantages. This explains 30.8% of the variance in AI acceptance (R2 = 0.308, F(2, 641) = 142.909, p < 0.001). These results highlight the importance of techniques that improve perceived benefits while addressing uncertainty since they offer insightful analysis of student attitudes regarding artificial intelligence integration in higher education. By guiding policy decisions and educational activities meant to maximize AI-driven learning environments, this study adds to the current conversation on artificial intelligence adoption in education. The article presents an analysis of the mechanisms used by a vocational high school in Bulgaria to develop dual training and implement it sustainably. It focuses on the school management’s leadership role in the network of different stakeholders, demonstrating the importance of this aspect in the entire process of developing dual education. Apart from the case analysis of the Bulgarian vocational high school’s successful implementation of dual learning, the research strategy includes examining regulatory documents, evaluation reports and publications in media and by companies, as well as analyzing the attitudes among key stakeholders. An overview of the challenges facing dual education in Bulgaria is also provided. Based on the case study findings, the factors supporting the implementation and sustainability of the dual system have been identified. We conclude that the long-term development of the dual education model depends on the understanding that the formation of professional skills is a dynamic process, requiring attention to the needs of the local environment, adaptability to current changes and active participation by all stakeholders. The role of school leadership—with regard to both its motivation and activity—has proven to be essential, and therefore it should not be overlooked when creating state incentives to support dual training. Background/Objectives: Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) require contextual approaches emphasizing family roles. Parents of children with NDDs face a complex socio-emotional reality. They may experience high levels of stress, fatigue, depression, and feelings of guilt and uncertainty, and they are often left feeling isolated and unsupported. All of these factors increase their socio-emotional vulnerability and affect their children’s wellbeing. A significant part of the available evidence has focused on parents of typically developing children or on a single construct. For these reasons, and considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the aim of this study was to review interventions targeting the improvement of the socio-emotional wellbeing of parents of children with NDDs, in order to characterise recent research, the specific constructs addressed, and the effectiveness of interventions. Methods: No prior protocol/registration. ERIC and Web of Science databases (selected for their broad multidisciplinary coverage in psychology and social sciences) were searched from 2020–2025 (last search: 7 September 2025), limited to English/Spanish publications. Inclusion criteria encompassed parents/primary family caregivers of children with NDDs receiving socio-emotional programs. Two independent reviewers screened the titles/abstracts and full texts, resolving disagreements through discussion. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic review employed narrative synthesis without risk-of-bias assessment and included 16 studies (approximately, 1100 participants). Results: The analysis indicated a scarce but growing scientific output, with a complex methodological landscape showing promising preliminary convergence in intervention outcomes. Interventions effects appeared mediated by cultural suitability, accessibility, and contextual alignment. Conclusions: Future work should pursue multisystemic approaches engaging diverse societal contexts and agents to optimize child and family wellbeing. Full article

The mental distress experienced by ethnic minority students studying at predominantly White institutions is well documented. These institutions and their spaces can be hostile environments for ethnic minority students and staff, leading to low retention, engagement and poor mental health. Often posited through a deficit lens, we challenge models that situate the experiences of what we call the resilient minority (ReM)—racialised ethnic groups—into categories to be fixed. By deploying qualitative research into Black and White university student experiences of racial inclusion, we explore alternative views to building stronger, more resilient communities. By further theorising interracial anxiety (the increased levels of anxiety felt by White people when interacting with ReM or experienced by ReM in predominantly White contexts), we highlight how decolonisation, built on representation and recognition, not only generates important discussions about interracial anxiety but also creates opportunities for change. We evidence how the representation of ReM groups through a Black feminist and decolonial critique in predominantly White contexts can reduce anxiety, promote wellbeing and potentially foster interracial inclusivity in higher education. Informal STEM education programs (ISEs) can be a successful vehicle for addressing the underrepresentation of girls in STEM by expanding their views of what constitutes science and debunking stereotypes related to who succeeds in STEM careers. Research has demonstrated how in-person ISEs provide opportunities for girls to engage in hands-on, authentic science experiences, interact with diverse women role models, and understand the real-world application of STEM to improve their STEM identity development (i.e., STEM competence, performance, self and external recognition, and sense of belonging within STEM). But few studies have focused on STEM identity development in online spaces. Our study addresses this gap through a mixed methods study that investigates how an online program (Brite), held in 2023, influenced the STEM identities of the participating girls. Our results highlight the aspects of the online program that improved the STEM identity for participants as well as lessons learned for future programs. The influential programmatic pieces were role model interactions and the supportive Brite community that included program educators, the other girls, and the Brite facilitators, which helped girls feel inspired and motivated to continue along their STEM identity trajectories. Background/Objectives: Family members are the principal providers of home-based care for migrant older adults. Linguistic, cultural, and structural barriers within health systems exacerbate the caregiver burden across emotional, physical and financial domains. Although home healthcare services may alleviate this burden, variability in access, cultural safety, and care coordination can also intensify it. This scoping review maps the evidence on the burden experienced by family caregivers who deliver home-based healthcare to migrant older adults and examines how these arrangements affect caregivers’ health and well-being. It synthesizes the literature on facilitators and barriers—including access, cultural-linguistic fit, coordination with formal services, and legal/immigration constraints—and distills implications for policy and practice to strengthen equitable, culturally responsive home care. Method: The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) scoping review framework was used to conduct the review. A comprehensive search was performed across six databases (CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, MEDLINE and Sociological Abstracts) for articles published between 2000 and 2025. Studies were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria focusing on the family caregiver burden in providing home healthcare for migrant older adults. Data extraction and thematic analysis were conducted to identify key themes. Results: The review identified 20 studies across various geographical regions, highlighting four key themes: (1) Multidimensional Caregiver Burden, (2) The Influence of Gender, Family Hierarchy, and Migratory Trajectories on Caregiving, (3) Limited Access to Formal and Culturally Appropriate Support, and (4) Health Outcomes, Coping, and the Need for Community-Based Solutions. Conclusions: System-level reforms are required to advance equity in home healthcare for aging migrants. Priorities include establishing accountable cultural-safety training for providers; expanding multilingual access across intake, assessment, and follow-up; and formally recognizing and resourcing family caregivers (e.g., navigation support, respite, training, and financial relief). Investment in community-driven programs, frameworks and targeted outreach—co-designed with migrant communities—can mitigate isolation and improve uptake. While home healthcare is pivotal, structural inequities and cultural barriers continue to constrain equitable access. Addressing these gaps demands coordinated policy action, enhanced provider preparation, and culturally responsive care models. Future research should evaluate innovative frameworks that integrate community partnerships and culturally responsive practices to reduce the caregiver burden and improve outcomes for migrant families. Background/Objectives: People living with depression often experience consistent disruptions in their experience of time, which further contributes to their suffering. We present a scoping review on virtual reality (VR)-based interventions for depression, addressing temporal processing and subjective experiences of time. The paper aims to explore the extent to which therapeutic interventions using VR target the temporal dimension of patients’ experiences. Methods: We conducted a scoping review using the PRISMA 2020 standard. The literature search was further extended using Research Rabbit and by examining the reference lists of relevant articles. Seventeen papers were selected for final analysis. Results: Our scoping review indicates that temporality in VR-based therapeutic interventions for depression remains underrepresented. Of the seventeen papers reviewed, only two explicitly deal with this issue, while the rest touch upon it briefly or implicitly. The studies suggest that VR’s main advantage in modifying the experience of time in depression is its potential to generate immersion and to scaffold imagination through visualization. The main limitations are methodological: most of the available research is exploratory, reports short-term effects, and utilizes a broad variety of empirical designs and therapeutic approaches. We examine complex inequities that emerge when race, gender, and first-generation college status are treated as interdependent, rather than independent statuses, for assessing student outcomes at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Drawing on student-level administrative data from two public HSIs in the U.S. Southwest, we analyze four-year graduation and placement in developmental English and mathematics. Using continuing-generation college white women as the reference group, we estimate marginal effects and then construct linear combinations for twenty intersectional social locations defined by race, gender, and first-generation college status. Our findings show that first-generation American Indian men, first-generation college Black men, and first-generation college Hispanic men experience some of the largest achievement gaps in both graduation and developmental placement, gaps that would remain obscured in conventional reporting by race, gender, or class alone. We argue that quantitative intersectionality, grounded in critical race and intersectionality scholarship, offers a value-added approach to state-based institutional analytics that can inform equity metrics, accountability systems, and resource allocation at HSIs and beyond. We conclude with recommendations for redesigning data infrastructures, reporting practices, and equity initiatives to better align HSI servingness with the lived realities of structurally marginalized students. Background: Aging is a multidimensional process influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. Social support contributes to cognitive reserve by reducing stress, promoting mental engagement, and reinforcing a sense of belonging. Objective: To examine the association between perceived social support and cognitive functioning among older adults, and to investigate whether social support mediates the relationship between living arrangements and cognitive performance. Methods: The sample included 265 older adults aged 65 years and above, recruited using snowball sampling between March and July 2025 in rural communities. Instruments included the Montreal Cognitive Assessment for cognitive function and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support for social support. Results: In this study, higher perceived social support from family, friends, and significant others was associated with better cognitive performance. Multiple regression showed that all three dimensions of social support significantly predicted MoCA scores, with the strongest effect from friends’ support. Mediation analysis revealed that perceived social support mediated the relationship between living arrangements and cognitive functioning, while the direct effect of cohabitation alone was not significant. Conclusions: These results highlight the importance of perceived social support in preserving cognitive health in older adults. Full article

Background/Objectives: African American women are less likely to breastfeed in general and to breastfeed exclusively for the first six months of infancy. Racial and ethnic breastfeeding disparities are especially pronounced in the South, particularly in rural communities. These differences are attributed largely to structural lactation impediments that include less breastfeeding support in healthcare settings, workplaces, and communities. While a great deal of research has explored racial differences in breastfeeding, minimal attention has been paid to the social correlates and racial disparities associated with the 2022 U.S. infant formula shortage. Our study explores racial distinctions in the formula shortage’s effect on breastfeeding support among Gulf Coast Mississippians. Methods: We use data from the second wave of the Mississippi REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) Social Climate Survey to determine if racial differences are evident in the formula shortage’s influence on breastfeeding support. We predict that the infant formula shortage will have prompted African American respondents to become much more supportive of breastfeeding than their White counterparts, net of sociodemographic controls. This hypothesis is based on the lower prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding among African Americans, thereby indicating a greater reliance on formula. The study uses a general population (random digit dial) sample and purposive (exclusively African American) oversample to analyze validated data from a cross-sectional survey. Sampling took place between September and December 2023, with a sample population of adult male and female Mississippians. A series of binary logistic regression models were employed to measure the association of race with breastfeeding support changes resulting from the infant formula shortage. Results: The study results support the hypothesis, as seen by a positive association between African Americans and increased breastfeeding support directly related to the infant formula shortage. Further, the baseline statistical model reveals African American respondents to be five times more likely than White respondents (p < 0.001) to report that the formula shortage increased their support of breastfeeding. Conclusions: We conclude by discussing this study’s implications and promising directions for future research. Full article
