Forest recreation sites provide accessible settings for everyday leisure while accommodating multiple, and often competing, uses, making zoning both a central planning challenge and solution. This study advances micro-zoning as a novel, site-scale extension of established recreation zoning concepts, examining how zoning principles can be operationalized within intensively used forest recreation areas. Data were collected from 302 visitors using a structured questionnaire on visit patterns, valued forest attributes, disturbances, and socio-demographic characteristics. Descriptive statistics and tests of association were used to identify needs, disturbances, and recurring combinations of use. The results show that these forests function as everyday recreation spaces for diverse group visits, with high importance placed on peacefulness, shade, cleanliness, natural scenery, and basic infrastructure, alongside frequent reports of disturbance from music, crowding, and litter. Building on these patterns, the study develops a micro-zoning framework that delineates three interpretive planning micro-areas: Drive-in Forest Recreation, representing high-intensity, infrastructure-oriented social use; Low-Intensity Recreation, a moderate-use, low-noise nature-oriented area prioritizing separation from disturbance; and Active Recreation Use, comprising movement-focused routes for walking, running, and cycling. The study illustrates how visitor survey data can guide evidence-based micro-zoning and adapt zoning frameworks to the fine spatial grain of intensively used forest recreation sites. Full article

To address the limitations of static and coarse-grained analysis in mining online tourism reviews, this study proposes a gated attention-based multi-model fusion framework for dynamic topic evolution and complaint-driven latent issue pattern mining. Using 300,000 reviews from Ctrip and Meituan, we fuse global semantics from Sentence-BERT with attention (SBERT-Attention), local features from Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers–Text Convolutional Neural Network (BERT-TextCNN), and topic distributions from the Biterm Topic Model (BTM) via a learnable gating mechanism. The fused model achieves an F1-score of 92.3% in review classification. We partition the corpus quarterly and apply Uniform Manifold Approximation and Projection (UMAP) followed by K-means++ clustering to the fused vectors, yielding interpretable topics, including Scenery, Transportation, Amenities, Management, Culture, and Value for Money, and enabling dynamic topic discovery over time. River map visualizations and negative review analysis reveal seasonal evolution patterns and recurring complaint patterns associated with specific topics. The framework enables dynamic, interpretable semantic mining, advancing intelligent processing of short-text user content and offering a generalizable approach for temporal knowledge discovery in smart tourism and beyond. Sui–Tang Luoyang represents a classic achievement in Chinese capital planning, yet research remains dominated by archaeological and historical–geographical approaches, lacking a unifying theoretical framework. This research addresses this gap by applying the Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) approach to systematically interpret the city’s integration of built form and natural landscape. This research developed a three-dimensional analytical scheme comprising spatial structure, visual axis, and borrowed scenery and implemented it using historical documents, archaeological data, GIS, and cross-validation methods. The results reconstruct the city’s triple spatial structure (Palace City, Imperial City, Outer City) and identify a near-north–south central axis that connects the palace with the Longmen Yique and Mount Mang, forming a dominant view corridor and ritual sequence. Further analysis examines how multi-layered borrowed scenery embodies and articulates the traditional “Harmony of Nature and Humanity” philosophy. This research supports the plausibility of the applicability of HUL to sites with scarce surface remains and provides a transferable framework for the holistic conservation, view-corridor management, and digital reconstruction of historic cities. Acoustically, Baroque theatres have prove remarkably appropriate for opera, and, in the past, little distinction was drawn in design between drama and opera use, except for the inclusion of an orchestra pit, because both music and words were audible and balanced, reverberation times being shorter than in concert halls but longer than in speech auditoria. In a drama configuration, scenery is set in the fly tower on stage, while for opera pieces, in most cases, the orchestra pit platform raises to the main floor level of the stalls to set additional seats rows. Considering the characteristics of the Opera di Roma (IT), the case study, the main physical parameters that contribute to the sound quality are evaluated and compared in relation to the pit position level, in order to understand the possible merits of the covering seats on the pit surface for drama representations and, more generally, for speech activities. Eight different configurations are compared and, to evaluate the acoustic parameters’ sensitivity, the JND (just noticeable difference) is analyzed. The parameters’ trend is described. Full article

The Chiuchiu Pond (CCP) is an inland brackish water body in a pre-Andean scenery in the Atacama Desert, northern Chile. Presently unprotected, the CCP is attractive for tourism and a notable geosite for wildlife characterized by maintaining a fixed water level and chemical composition without surface inlets/outlets. This paper aims to characterize factors accounting for its perennial character by gathering climatic, hydrogeochemical, and morphometric information and microbiological and functional characterization. The CCP is an isolated U-shaped doline with a maximum depth of 17.5 m and vertical walls with more than 80% of soluble salts (halite and calcite) under arid conditions characterized by constant seasonal variation patterns. This is a unique case in that no similar conditions among reported wetlands or ponds have been found in the world. From our studies, it was characterized as an oligotrophic, lentic oligomictic, well-mixed water body, without thermal stratification, stable water level and hydrochemical composition, with water balance conditions from underground flows. Analysis of the microbial community revealed a core composition dominated by Proteobacteria (43.1%), Bacteroidetes (23.5%), and Cyanobacteria (10%). We provide a multidisciplinary contribution to justify urgent actions for the CCP’s conservation, representing a model for other unprotected coastal and inland wetlands in northern Chile and drylands elsewhere. Self-similar sets are defined as compact attractors. Their interior structure, however, is revealed only by successive magnification. This requires the use of a computer. We describe a new and very simple algorithm which performs an unlimited magnification of self-similar sets. In the case of integer data, it works without numerical error propagation. In other words, the program visualizes the scenery flow introduced by Bedford and Fisher, and Hochman. An open-source MATLAB implementation of the program is provided as a starting point and invitation to computational work in fractals. Full article

This paper introduces an approach that leverages large language models (LLMs) to convert detailed descriptions of an Operational Design Domain (ODD) into realistic, executable simulation scenarios for testing autonomous vehicles. The method combines model-based and data-driven techniques to decompose ODDs into three key components: environmental, scenery, and dynamic elements. It then applies prompt engineering to generate ScenarioRunner scripts compatible with CARLA. The model-based component guides the LLM using structured prompts and a “Tree of Thoughts” strategy to outline the scenario, while a data-driven refinement process, drawing inspiration from red teaming, enhances the accuracy and robustness of the generated scripts over time. Experimental results show that while static components, such as weather and road layouts, are well captured, dynamic elements like vehicle and pedestrian behavior require further refinement. Overall, this approach not only reduces the manual effort involved in creating simulation scenarios but also identifies key challenges and opportunities for advancing safer and more adaptive autonomous driving systems. Choosing a rural destination today often comes down to one thing: how authentic it feels. In countries like Romania, where tradition is still woven into daily life, travelers are looking for something real and sustainable—but what exactly does that mean? And how can we measure it? This study takes a different approach. We created an Authenticity Index using fuzzy logic, a method that makes space for in-between answers and soft boundaries. It helped us capture how people actually perceive things like local food, architecture, and natural scenery—without forcing their opinions into rigid categories. We tested the index with real guest feedback from rural accommodation. The results showed that guests consistently valued sensory experiences—like nature and food—more than activities that required deeper cultural involvement, such as workshops or folk demonstrations. Instead of just producing a number, the index turned out to be a guide. It gives hosts a better idea of what really matters to their guests—even when those preferences are not always easy to define. More than that, it brings together what theory says with what visitors actually feel, supporting more sustainable tourism practices. And in rural tourism, that connection can make all the difference. Background: Cutaneous lichen planus (CLP) is a chronic inflammatory T cell-mediated disease driven by a mixed Th1 and Th2 lymphocyte population, for which many of the currently available treatments have poor efficacy. Aim: The aim of this study was to indicate the clinical success of dupilumab administration after two years of treatment in a case of longstanding CLP and to perform a review of the medical literature related to the use of dupilumab in different dermatologic settings and in CLP. Case presentation: One 26-year-old woman with a previous history of atopic dermatitis had a long-lasting skin condition, referred to as a suspected lichen, which started when she was 7 years old. Her disease exhibited a relapsing–remitting course with severe bouts of pruritus over a very long period. The final histological diagnosis of CLP was confirmed at the age of 26. Starting dupilumab (injected subcutaneously at a dose of 600 mg followed by a maintenance dose of 300 mg every two weeks) resolved the skin scenery of this patient, who is currently in full remission. Conclusions: The remarkable recovery from CLP obtained via treatment with dupilumab in this single-patient case study emphasizes the potential therapeutic implications of targeting the Th2 pathway in this skin disorder. The COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted Japan’s inbound tourism, but recent recovery trends highlight the growing importance of Chinese tourists. Understanding their motivations is crucial for revitalizing the industry. Building on our previous framework, this study applies Transformer-based natural language processing (NLP) models and principal component analysis (PCA) to analyze large-scale user-generated content (UGC) and identify key motivational factors influencing Chinese tourists’ visits to Hokkaido. Traditional survey-based approaches to tourism motivation research often suffer from response biases and small sample sizes. In contrast, we leverage a pre-trained Transformer model, RoBERTa, to score motivational factors like self-expansion, excitement, and cultural observation. PCA is subsequently used to extract the most significant factors across different destinations. Findings indicate that Chinese tourists are primarily drawn to Hokkaido’s natural scenery and cultural experiences, and the differences in these factors by season. While the model effectively aligns with manual scoring, it shows limitations in capturing more abstract motivations such as excitement and self-expansion. This research advances tourism analytics by applying AI-driven methodologies, offering practical insights for destination marketing and management. Future work can extend this approach to other regions and cross-cultural contexts, further enhancing AI’s role in understanding evolving traveler preferences. Full article

Eye movement features of pilots are critical for aircraft landing, especially in low-visibility and windy conditions. This study conducts simulated flight experiments concerning aircraft approach and landing under three low-visibility and windy conditions, including no-wind, crosswind, and tailwind. This research collects 30 participants’ eye movement data after descending from the instrument approach to the visual approach and measures the landing position deviation. Then, a random forest method is used to rank eye movement features and sequentially construct feature sets by feature importance. Two machine learning models (SVR and RF) and four deep learning models (GRU, LSTM, CNN-GRU, and CNN-LSTM) are trained with these feature sets to predict the landing position deviation. The results show that the cumulative fixation duration on the heading indicator, altimeter, air-speed indicator, and external scenery is vital for landing position deviation under no-wind conditions. The attention allocation required by approaches under crosswind and tailwind conditions is more complex. According to the MAE metric, CNN-LSTM has the best prediction performance and stability under no-wind conditions, while CNN-GRU is better for crosswind and tailwind cases. RF also performs well as per the RMSE metric, as it is suitable for predicting landing position errors of outliers. Full article

This study investigates the influence of experiential programs (EPs) on enhancing consumer experience offerings at luxury resorts. EPs encompass a variety of activities, amenities, and services designed to immerse consumers in the local culture, scenery, and authenticity. The research focuses explicitly on EPs related to fitness, evening entertainment, children’s activities, and personalized experiences. By analyzing data from 30 resorts, significant trends and typologies within each category of EP emerged, highlighting the diverse ways in which resorts meet consumers’ desires for immersive and status-enhancing experiences. Valuable insights were gained through semi-structured interviews with two hoteliers, providing a deeper understanding of the strategic integration of EPs. Fitness EPs highlight activities, including hiking and yoga, whereas evening entertainment encompasses experiences like mixology, music, and astronomy education. For children, EPs prioritize cultural immersion through hands-on experiences, while personalized EPs—including romance packages and private dining—allow for consumer exclusivity. The research underscores how these EPs align with contemporary trends in conspicuous consumption, where luxury resorts leverage unique, high-quality, and culturally rich experiences to reinforce affluence and societal standing. The findings emphasize that EPs are a vital strategy for luxury resorts to differentiate themselves in a competitive market, enhancing consumer satisfaction, loyalty, and positive self-image. Smoke tree (Cotinus coggygria) is an important component of the urban landscape and represents red-leaf scenery in Beijing; however, Verticillium wilt, caused by Verticillium dahliae, has caused high mortality of smoke trees. Traditional control methods, such as chemical root irrigation and trunk injection, are problematic due to environmental pollution and potential plant damage. This study aimed to explore effective prevention and control methods for Verticillium wilt of smoke tree across different regions of red-leaf scenery in Beijing. In 2023, 240 smoke trees from the Pofengling Park of Beijing were selected for the study. Four different fungicides, a plant growth regulator and a biocontrol agent were tested. Three application methods (root irrigation, trunk spraying, and a combination of both) were used in the different trials. Based on the results of the 2023 trial, control trials were conducted under the disease classification in 2024 at key red-leaf scenery regions, such as Xiangshan Park, Xishan Park, and Pofengling Park. The bioagents of Bacillus subtilis root irrigation combined with the trunk spraying treatment group showed the best disease control effects. Calculated by the change in disease index in the treatment and blank groups, the corrective control effect in the treatment group reached 104.55%, and 60% of the plants remained healthy, indicating that this method of disease control was the most effective. Propiconazole root irrigation also had a significant effect on diseased smoke trees. Furthermore, validation experiments conducted in 2024 confirmed that various combinations of root irrigation and trunk spraying provided strong preventive and therapeutic effects on Verticillium wilt. In conclusion, the graded control measures demonstrated effective control of wilt at different disease index grades. This study offers an effective and practical solution for controlling Verticillium wilt, benefiting both environmental sustainability and landscape health. Full article

Health and wellness tourism is a rapidly expanding segment of the global tourism industry, driven by increasing consumer awareness of well-being and lifestyle enhancement. As the demand for wellness travel grows, destinations are expected to offer high standards of safety, hygiene, rehabilitation, and holistic experiences. This study aims to identify and evaluate the key attributes and determinants for developing health and wellness tourism destinations by applying the 6As Tourism Development framework: Attractions, Accessibility, Amenities, Activities, Available Packages, and Ancillary Services. A multi-criteria decision-making approach, specifically the TOPSIS, was employed to assess destination potential through a case study of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand. The results indicate that Attractions, Accessibility, and Amenities are the top three priorities for wellness tourists. Sub-criteria such as natural scenery, cultural significance, accessibility for all, safety, and accommodation quality are particularly influential. Three districts in Nakhon Ratchasima were found to exhibit distinct strengths—Pak Chong is best suited for rehabilitative tourism (e.g., aroma and water therapy), aligning with mind and nutrition wellness components; Wang Nam Khiao is ideal for ecotourism and cultural experiences, supporting environmental and nutritional dimensions; while Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima excels in sports tourism, supporting physical and nutritional well-being. The study offers practical insights for policymakers and tourism stakeholders to design sustainable, visitor-centered wellness destinations.
