In this study, a novel synthesis method for bandpass filters is proposed. The method relies on Richard’s transform and avoids approximations in circuit realizations. Thus, proper frequency responses are obtained for bandpass filters with bandwidths ranging from narrow to wide. In the presented approach, a method for removing the input and output inverters/transformers is proposed and is used to show how classic parallel-coupled resonator filters can be designed using the proposed method. Also, a degree of freedom is introduced that allows the overall impedance level of the fabricated filter to be tuned, which is used to tune the frequency response of the filter to the theoretical one. Both narrow-band and wideband solutions in terms of impedance inverter realization are discussed in the paper. The theoretical investigations are confirmed by an experimental realization of two bandpass filters with parallel-coupled shorted resonators. Full article

Singlet Oxygen-Mediated Micropollutant Degradation Using an FePc-Modified CNT Filter via Peroxymonosulfate Activation

Herein, we rationally designed a molecular catalytic filter for effective micropollutants decontamination via peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation. Specifically, iron phthalocanine (FePc) molecules with defined Fe–N4 coordination were immobilized onto carbon nanotubes (CNTs), forming a hybrid catalyst that integrated molecular precision with heterogeneous catalytic properties. The resulting CNT-FePc filter achieved a 98.4% removal efficiency for bisphenol A (10 ppm) in a single-pass operation system, significantly outperforming the CNT/PMS system without FePc (41.6%). Additionally, the CNT-FePc/PMS system demonstrated remarkable resistance to performance inhibition by common water matrix components. Unlike typical radical-dominated PMS activation processes, mechanistic investigations confirmed that the CNT-FePc/PMS system selectively promoted singlet oxygen (1O2) generation as the primary oxidative pathway. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that PMS exhibited stronger adsorption on FePc (−3.05 eV) compared to CNT (−2.86 eV), and that FePc effectively facilitated O–O bond elongation in PMS, thereby facilitating 1O2 generation. Additionally, seed germination assays indicated a significant reduction in the biotoxicity of the treated effluents. Overall, this work presents a catalyst design strategy that merges molecular-level coordination chemistry with practical flow-through configuration, enabling rapid, selective, and environmentally benign micropollutant removal. E-Learning is an emerging dominant phenomenon in education, making the development of robust models that can accurately represent the dynamic behavior of learners in MOOCs even more critical. In this article, we propose the Temporal Sparse Attention-Gated Recurrent Unit (TSA-GRU), a novel deep learning framework that combines TSA with a sequential encoder based on the GRU. This hybrid model effectively reconstructs student response times and learning trajectories with high fidelity by leveraging tthe emporal embeddings of instructional and feedback activities. By dynamically filtering noise from student interactions, TSA-GRU generates context-aware representations that seamlessly integrate both short-term fluctuations and long-term learning patterns. Empirical evaluation on the 2009–2010 ASSISTments dataset demonstrates that TSA-GRU achieved a test accuracy of 95.60% and a test loss of 0.0209, outperforming Modular Sparse Attention-Gated Recurrent Unit (MSA-GRU), Bayesian Knowledge Tracing (BKT), Performance Factors Analysis (PFA), and TSA in the same experimental design. TSA-GRU converged in five training epochs; thus, while TSA-GRU is demonstrated to have strong predictive performance for knowledge tracing tasks, these findings are specific to the conducted dataset and should not be implicitly regarded as conclusive for all data. More statistical validation through five-fold cross-validation, confidence intervals, and paired t-tests have confirmed the robustness, consistency, and statistically significant superiority of TSA-GRU over the baseline model MSA-GRU. TSA-GRU’s scalability and capacity to incorporate a temporal dimension of knowledge can make it acceptably well-positioned to analyze complex learner behaviors and plan interventions for adaptive learning in computerized learning systems. GPSs typically have an accuracy ranging from a few meters to several tens of meters. However, when corrected using various methods, they can achieve an accuracy of several tens of centimeters. In autonomous driving, a positioning accuracy of less than 50 cm is required for lane-level positioning, route generation, and navigation. However, in environments where GPS signals are blocked, such as tunnels and underground roads, absolute positioning is impossible. Instead, relative positioning methods integrating IMU, IVN, and cameras are used. These methods are influenced by numerous variables, however, such as vehicle speed and road conditions, resulting in lower accuracy. In this study, we conducted experiments on current vehicle navigation technologies using an autonomous driving simulation vehicle in the Suri–Suam Tunnel of the Seoul Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway. To recognize objects (lane markings/2D/3D) for position correction inside the tunnel, data on tunnel and underground road infrastructure in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province was collected, processed, refined, and trained. Additionally, a Loosely Coupled-based Kalman Filter was designed and applied for the fusion of GPSs, IMUs, and IVNs. As a result, an error of 113.62 cm was observed in certain sections. This suggests that while the technology is applicable for general vehicle lane-level navigation in ultra-long tunnels spanning several kilometers for public service, it falls short of meeting the precision required for autonomous driving systems, which demand lane-level accuracy. Therefore, it was concluded that infrastructure-based absolute positioning technology is necessary to enable precise navigation inside tunnels. Full article

To address the issues in existing 3D point cloud facet generation networks, specifically, the tendency to produce a large number of empty facets and the uncertainty in facet count, this paper proposes a novel deep learning framework for robust facet segmentation. Based on the generated facet set, two exploratory applications are further developed. First, to overcome the bottleneck where inaccurate empty-facet detection impairs the downsampling performance, a facet-abstracted downsampling method is introduced. By using a learned facet classifier to filter out and discard empty facets, retaining only non-empty surface facets, and fusing point coordinates and local features within each facet, the method achieves significant compression of point cloud data while preserving essential geometric information. Second, to solve the insufficient precision in organ segmentation within crop point clouds, a facet growth-based segmentation algorithm is designed. The network first predicts the edge scores for the facets to determine the seed facets. The facets are then iteratively expanded according to adjacent-facet similarity until a complete organ region is enclosed, thereby enhancing the accuracy of segmentation across semantic boundaries. Finally, the proposed facet segmentation network is trained and validated using a synthetic dataset. Experiments show that, compared with traditional methods, the proposed approach significantly outperforms both downsampling accuracy and instance segmentation performance. In various crop scenarios, it demonstrates excellent geometric fidelity and semantic consistency, as well as strong generalization ability and practical application potential, providing new ideas for in-depth applications of facet-level features in 3D point cloud analysis. Transformers have been extensively utilized as encoders in medical image segmentation; however, the information that an encoder can capture is inherently limited. In this study, we propose MINTFormer, which introduces a Heterogeneous encoder that integratesCSWin and MaxViT to fully exploit the potential of encoders with different encoding methodologies. Additionally, we observed that the encoder output contains substantial redundant information. To address this, we designed a Demodulate Bridge (DB) to filter out redundant information from feature maps. Furthermore, we developed a multi-Scale Sampling Decoder (SSD) capable of preserving information about organs of varying sizes during upsampling and accurately restoring their shapes. This study demonstrates the superior performance of MINTFormer across several datasets, including Synapse, ACDC, Kvasir-SEG, and skin lesion segmentation datasets. Full article

In this paper, we study the classification problem of short-time-window steady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEPs) and propose a novel deep convolutional network named EEGResNet based on the idea of residual connection to further improve the classification performance. Since the frequency-domain features extracted from short-time-window signals are difficult to distinguish, the EEGResNet starts from the filter bank (FB)-based feature extraction module in the time domain. The FB designed in this paper is composed of four sixth-order Butterworth filters with different bandpass ranges, and the four bandwidths are 19–50 Hz, 14–38 Hz, 9–26 Hz, and 3–14 Hz, respectively. Then, the extracted four feature tensors with the same shape are directly aggregated together. Furthermore, the aggregated features are further learned by a six-layer convolutional neural network with residual connections. Finally, the network output is generated through an adaptive fully connected layer. To prove the effectiveness and superiority of our designed EEGResNet, necessary experiments and comparisons are conducted over two large public datasets. To further verify the application potential of the trained network, a virtual simulation of brain computer interface (BCI) based quadrotor control is presented through V-REP. Full article

Accelerating High-Frequency Circuit Optimization Using Machine Learning-Generated Inverse Maps for Enhanced Space Mapping

The optimization of high-frequency circuits remains a computationally intensive task due to the need for repeated high-fidelity electromagnetic (EM) simulations. To address this challenge, we propose a novel integration of machine learning-generated inverse maps within the space mapping (SM) optimization framework to significantly accelerate circuit optimization while maintaining high accuracy. The proposed approach leverages Bayesian Neural Networks (BNNs) and surrogate modeling techniques to construct an inverse mapping function that directly predicts design parameters from target performance metrics, bypassing iterative forward simulations. The methodology was validated using a low-pass filter optimization scenario, where the inverse surrogate model was trained using electromagnetic simulations from COMSOL Multiphysics 2024 r6.3 and optimized using MATLAB R2024b r24.2 trust region algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach reduces the number of high-fidelity simulations by over 80% compared to conventional SM techniques while achieving high accuracy with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.0262 (0.47%). Additionally, convergence efficiency was significantly improved, with the inverse surrogate model requiring only 31 coarse model simulations, compared to 580 in traditional SM. These findings demonstrate that machine learning-driven inverse surrogate modeling significantly reduces computational overhead, accelerates optimization, and enhances the accuracy of high-frequency circuit design. This approach offers a promising alternative to traditional SM methods, paving the way for more efficient RF and microwave circuit design workflows. Full article

The low-cost Strapdown Inertial Navigation System (SINS)/Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is widely used in autonomous vehicles for positioning and navigation. Initial alignment is a critical stage for SINS operations, and the alignment time and accuracy directly affect the SINS navigation performance. To address the issue that low-cost SINS/GNSS cannot effectively achieve rapid and high-accuracy alignment in complex environments that contain noise and external interference, an adaptive multiple backtracking robust alignment method is proposed. The sliding window that constructs observation and reference vectors is established, which effectively avoids the accumulation of sensor errors during the full integration process. A new observation vector based on the magnitude matching is then constructed to effectively reduce the effect of outliers on the alignment process. An adaptive multiple backtracking method is designed in which the window size can be dynamically adjusted based on the innovation gradient; thus, the alignment time can be significantly shortened. Furthermore, the modified variational Bayesian Kalman filter (VBKF) that accurately adjusts the measurement noise covariance matrix is proposed, and the Expectation–Maximization (EM) algorithm is employed to refine the prior parameter of the predicted error covariance matrix. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly reduces alignment time and improves alignment accuracy. Taking heading error as the critical evaluation indicator, the proposed method achieves rapid alignment within 120 s and maintains a stable error below 1.2° after 80 s, yielding an improvement of over 63% compared to the backtracking-based Kalman filter (BKF) method and over 57% compared to the fuzzy adaptive KF (FAKF) method. This paper presents the design, implementation, and experimental validation of a Condition Monitoring (CM) circuit for SiC-based Power Electronics Converters (PECs). The paper leverages in situ drain–source resistance (Rds,on) measurements, interfaced with cloud connectivity for data processing and lifetime assessment, addressing key limitations in current state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods. Traditional approaches rely on expensive data acquisition systems under controlled laboratory conditions, making them unsuitable for real-world applications due to component variability, time delay, and noise sensitivity. Furthermore, these methods lack cloud interfacing for real-time data analysis and fail to provide comprehensive reliability metrics such as Remaining Useful Life (RUL). Additionally, the proposed CM method benefits from noise mitigation during switching transitions by utilizing delay circuits to ensure stable and accurate data capture. Moreover, collected data are transmitted to the cloud for long-term health assessment and damage evaluation. In this paper, experimental validation follows a structured design involving signal acquisition, filtering, cloud transmission, and temperature and thermal degradation tracking. Experimental testing has been conducted at different temperatures and operating conditions, considering coolant temperature variations (40 °C to 80 °C), and an output power of 7 kW. Results have demonstrated a clear correlation between temperature rise and Rds,on variations, validating the ability of the proposed method to predict device degradation. Finally, by leveraging cloud computing, this work provides a practical solution for real-world Wide Band Gap (WBG)-based PEC reliability and lifetime assessment. Full article

In this paper, a joint Matching Field Processing (MFP) Algorithm based on horizontal uniform circular array (UCA) is proposed for three-dimensional position of underwater wrecked targets. Firstly, a Marine search and rescue position model based on Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) and matching field quadratic joint Algorithm was proposed. Secondly, an MVDR beamforming method based on pre-Kalman filtering is designed to refine the real-time DOA estimation of the desired signal and the interference source, and the sound source azimuth is determined for prepositioning. The antenna array weights are dynamically adjusted according to the filtered DOA information. Finally, the Adaptive Matching Field Algorithm (AMFP) used the DOA information to calculate the range and depth of the lost target, and obtained the range and depth estimates. Thus, the 3D position of the lost underwater target is jointly estimated. This method alleviates the angle ambiguity problem and does not require a computationally intensive 2D spectral search. The simulation results show that the proposed method can better realise underwater three-dimensional positioning under certain signal-to-noise ratio conditions. When there is no error in the sensor coordinates, the positioning error is smaller than that of the baseline method as the SNR increases. When the SNR is 0 dB, with the increase in the sensor coordinate error, the target location error increases but is smaller than the error amplitude of the benchmark Algorithm. The experimental results verify the robustness of the proposed framework in the hierarchical ocean environment, which provides a practical basis for the deployment of rapid response underwater positioning systems in maritime search and rescue scenarios. To address the degradation in localization accuracy caused by insufficient robustness of filter parameters and inefficient multi-trajectory data fusion in dynamic environments, this paper proposes a Kalman filter-based localization calibration method optimized by reinforcement learning and information matrix fusion (RL-IMKF). An actor–critic reinforcement learning network is designed to adaptively adjust the state covariance matrix, enhancing the Kalman filter’s adaptability to environmental changes. Meanwhile, a multi-trajectory information matrix fusion strategy is introduced, which aggregates multiple trajectories in the information domain via weighted inverse covariance matrices to suppress error propagation and improve system consistency. Experiments using both simulated and real-world sensor data demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms traditional extended Kalman filter approaches in terms of localization accuracy and stability, providing a novel solution for cooperative localization calibration of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarms in dynamic environments. This paper proposes a compact, broadband, and low-profile filtering antenna designed for Sub-6 GHz communication. By applying characteristic mode analysis to the radiating elements, the operational mechanism of the antenna is clearly elucidated. The current cancellation among different radiating elements results in two radiation nulls in the primary radiation direction, effectively enhancing the filtering effect. The antenna achieves a wide operational bandwidth (S1110 dB) of 35.9% (4.3–6.4 GHz), making it highly suitable for Sub-6 GHz communication systems. Despite its compact size of 25 × 25 mm2, the antenna consistently maintains stable broadside radiation patterns, with a peak gain of 6.14 dBi and a minimal gain fluctuation of less than 1 dBi at 4.6–6.45 GHz. This design ensures reliable and robust communication performance for V2V systems operating in the designated frequency band. Full article

We introduce I-fp convergence (ideal convergence in fuzzy paranormed spaces) and develop its core theory, including stability results and an equivalence to I*-fp convergence under the AP Property. Building on this foundation, we design an adaptive base-stock policy for a single-echelon inventory system in which weekly demand is expressed as triangular fuzzy numbers while holiday or promotion weeks are treated as ideal-small anomalies. The policy is updated by a simple learning rule that can be implemented in any spreadsheet, requires no optimisation software, and remains insensitive to tuning choices. Extensive simulation confirms that the method simultaneously lowers cost, reduces average inventory and raises service level relative to a crisp benchmark, all while filtering sparse demand spikes in a principled way. These findings position I-fp convergence as a lightweight yet rigorous tool for blending linguistic uncertainty with anomaly-aware decision making in supply-chain analytics. Full article

Carbon dots (CDs) have attracted much attention as new types of luminescent carbon nanomaterials in recent years because of their tunable fluorescence, good biocompatibility, high stability, and low cost. In this review, the classification of CDs is overviewed based on their differences in structure. Subsequently, the latest research progress of CDs in fluorescence sensing is systematically summarized and various sensing principles are elucidated in detail, including fluorescence resonance energy transfer, aggregation-induced emission, aggregation-caused quenching, electron transfer, and the inner filter effect. Finally, the challenges and future direction of CD fluorescent probes are discussed in detail. The purpose of this review is to stimulate the design of advanced CD fluorescent probes and achieve the accurate and reliable measurement of analytes in complex samples. Full article
