Symmetric quantum calculus offers a dynamic framework for investigating the various classes of functions. However, the symmetric quantum operators become inconclusive at certain points. To overcome the limitations of existing calculi, operators over finite intervals have been extensively explored. To develop a more general and applicable setup, we introduce the symmetric quantum derivative and integral operators governed by an arbitrary point. Furthermore, we discuss structural properties of the newly developed operators and special cases to relate to the existing literature. Then, by applying the concepts of general symmetric quantum operators, convexity, Lipschitzian property, and Korkine’s identity, we derive a new set of inequalities, including Hermite–Hadamard, Ostrowski, Hólder, Minkowski, and Gruss-type inequalities, respectively. The proposed inequalities are useful to derive the bounds of generalized symmetric quantum integrals. Furthermore, the newly developed operators can be applied to study the impulsive difference equations and their dynamics. Additionally, a feed-forward ANN model is established to approximate the analytic expressions involved in inequalities and to observe the consistency of integral bounds. The results of the ANN analysis suggest a significant agreement between analytical solutions and approximations. Lastly, we focus on an applicable analysis of our derived results. The generic nature of operators will lead to new developments in quantum calculus. The hybrid approach evolved in this study will bring new applicable insights to the mathematical analysis. Since the late 1960s, project management researchers have studied the factors contributing to project success, with Dr. Barnes introducing the “Iron Triangle” concept in 1969. Initially composed of scope, time, and cost, subsequent interpretations have varied, with quality, stakeholder satisfaction, risk management, and sustainability proposed as additional vertices. However, it is difficult to reach a consensus on the definitive concepts of the Iron Triangle. This study proposes a new Iron Triangle that incorporates the concept of “value” along with cost and schedule, consistent with Lean Construction principles. Through a comprehensive literature review and critical analysis, the study identifies systematically excluded dimensions of the traditional Iron Triangle, emphasizing stakeholder satisfaction, sustainability, and innovation. The research aims to understand how these dimensions enhance traditional project management models by integrating Lean Construction principles. The results reveal a dynamic relationship among cost, schedule, and value, challenging the traditional assumption of inverse proportionality. The proposed model emphasizes the importance of value generation, promoting customer focus, eliminating waste, and continuous improvement. It encourages a holistic approach to project assessment, recognizing the multifaceted nature of success. This new paradigm suggests further research into strategies that assess cost, schedule, and value in construction projects. Full article

This article explores Christian mission and Islamic daʿwah fī sabīl Allāh as two distinct yet structurally comparable forms of theological engagement with the world. While both concepts have traditionally been studied in relation to religious transmission, doctrinal fidelity, and institutional expansion, contemporary scholarship increasingly recognizes their broader significance as practices of ethical responsibility, public witness, and interreligious encounter. The study proposes a comparative theological framework that goes beyond descriptive comparisons to examine the underlying structures that shape mission and daʿwah. Both traditions are approached as embodied practices through which religious communities cultivate specific forms of moral agency, religious subjectivity and interaction with others. From this perspective, mission and daʿwah are not merely understood as communicative activities, but as expressions of lived socio-ethical and theological commitments. The article posits that both traditions are organized around three interconnected dimensions: divine agency, human mediation, and epistemic orientation. These dimensions provide a common analytical framework while preserving the theological distinctiveness of Christianity and Islam. By developing this comparative axis, the study contributes to comparative theology in three ways: it offers a new conceptual framework for analysis; it highlights the dynamic and self-reflective nature of both traditions; and it demonstrates how mission and daʿwah can serve as platforms for interreligious understanding, fostering meaningful dialogue and deepening theological self-awareness through engagement with religious diversity. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) and aerobic vaginitis (AV) are usually described as distinct forms of vaginal dysbiosis. BV is characterized by depletion of lactobacilli, overgrowth of anaerobic microorganisms, and biofilm formation, whereas AV is associated with inflammatory changes, epithelial disruption, and predominance of aerobic bacteria. Over the past two decades, this distinction has profoundly influenced the understanding, diagnosis, and management of vaginal disorders. Despite their apparent differences, the relationship between BV and AV remains incompletely understood. Growing evidence indicates that many women exhibit microbiological and microscopic patterns that cannot be readily classified within existing diagnostic frameworks. Intermediate Nugent scores, mixed vaginitis, transitional ecological states, post-treatment microbiota reconstitution, physiological hypoestrogenic conditions, and uncommon inflammatory patterns all challenge the traditional view of BV and AV as strictly separate entities. This narrative review examines the historical evolution of BV and AV concepts, compares their microbiological, immunological, and epithelial characteristics, and evaluates the diagnostic paradigms currently used to identify vaginal dysbiosis. The strengths and limitations of clinical and diagnostic approaches are discussed together with the extent to which contemporary international guidelines reflect current biological knowledge. Particular emphasis is placed on intermediate, mixed, and overlapping states that blur the boundaries between established diagnostic categories. The available evidence supports the clinical usefulness of distinguishing BV and AV as separate clinicopathological entities. However, it also indicates that vaginal ecosystem disturbances frequently extend beyond rigid dichotomous classifications. Current diagnostic categories remain valuable tools for clinical practice, yet they may only partially capture the complexity and dynamic nature of vaginal dysbiosis. Understanding how microbial communities, host responses, epithelial integrity, and physiological factors interact remains a major challenge for future research and clinical interpretation. Ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability depends heavily on preserving soil health, a process fundamentally governed by humic substances (HSs) and their vital physicochemical and biological functions. However, because intensive farming rapidly degrades natural HSs reserves, external replenishment has become essential, driving the expansion of the humic preparations market. This article constitutes a comprehensive review of the entire technological chain of humic preparations: from the identification of raw materials, through advanced extraction techniques, up to agrochemical mechanisms in the soil–plant system. Both traditional fossil deposits (leonardite, brown coal, peat) and renewable waste sources fitting into the concept of the circular economy were discussed. Classical alkaline extraction was confronted with green methods such as ultrasound-assisted (UAE), microwave-assisted (MAE) or high voltage electrical discharge (HVED) extraction, which allow for shortening the operation time and reducing the consumption of reagents. Strategies of integrating HSs with mineral fertilizers (coating, liquid formulas, organo-mineral products) and their direct impact on improving nutrient use efficiency (NUE), mitigating plant abiotic stress, agricultural performance, and environmental impact were described in detail. Research perspectives were also presented, including, among others, economic aspects of scaling up humic technologies and an assessment of the development potential of innovative nanofertilizers functionalized with HSs. This study examines how Perumal Murugan’s Seasons of the Palm and Pyre represent the relationship between caste, ecology, and psychological suffering through the concept of solastalgia. While solastalgia is often understood in relation to environmental destruction or climate-related loss, this study argues that Murugan’s narratives expand its meaning by showing how ecological distress can also arise from caste-based exclusion, spatial control, and the denial of belonging within one’s own surroundings. In these narratives, rural landscapes are not neutral settings but socially organised environments shaped by labour, hierarchy, surveillance, and everyday forms of violence. Through the experiences of Shorty and Saroja, the study shows how nature functions as a space that both sustains life and regulates access to it. From Dalit psycho-ecological perspectives, the study argues that ecological suffering in Murugan’s narratives is inseparable from the caste structures. The study further suggests that environmental justice in the Indian context must account for caste as a central force shaping ecological experience. Ultimately, Murugan’s narratives highlight that ecological grief is also social grief and that questions of land, place, and belonging are deeply tied to the structures of power, calling for a more inclusive understanding of ecological thought that recognises these entangled realities. Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide, and currently available antidepressants are limited by delayed therapeutic onset, inadequate efficacy in some patients, and adverse effects. G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), the largest family of membrane receptors in the central nervous system, regulate neurotransmission, neuroplasticity, neuroinflammation, stress responses, and reward processing, and are therefore important targets for antidepressant drug development. Natural products are a rich source of structurally diverse bioactive compounds, many of which show antidepressant-like effects through the modulation of GPCR-mediated signaling pathways. In this narrative review, we summarize the roles of major GPCR families implicated in depression and provide an updated overview of natural products that modulate these receptors. We particularly emphasize receptor-specific mechanisms, downstream signaling networks, and the pharmacological actions of representative natural compounds. We also highlight emerging concepts in GPCR biology, including receptor heteromerization, signaling bias, and allosteric modulation, that may create new opportunities for antidepressant discovery. Finally, we discuss current challenges related to target validation, pharmacokinetics, and clinical translation. Collectively, these insights support further investigation of natural product-derived GPCR modulators as potential leads for next-generation antidepressant development. Full article

The rapid deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) devices across smart cities, healthcare systems, industrial automation, transportation networks, smart grids, and cyber-physical infrastructures has expanded the modern cyberattack surface. IoT devices are often constrained by limited processing capacity, memory, battery power, and communication bandwidth, making conventional security mechanisms difficult to deploy consistently at scale. Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) provide an important defensive layer; however, many machine-learning-based IDSs are developed under static assumptions and may experience performance degradation as traffic distributions evolve due to firmware changes, device onboarding, protocol updates, user behavior variation, or adaptive attacks. This paper presents a hybrid IDS framework that integrates supervised Random Forest classification, unsupervised Isolation Forest anomaly monitoring, and Kolmogorov–Smirnov (KS)-based concept drift monitoring. In the experimental pipeline, Isolation Forest is trained exclusively on benign traffic to ensure that the anomaly detector models normal behavior rather than an attack-dominated training distribution. The evaluation uses a large-scale chronologically sampled subset of the CICIoT2023 dataset containing 3,890,621 records while preserving the natural class distribution of 2.35% benign traffic and 97.65% attack traffic. The chronological 80/20 train/test split is established first at the file level, followed by systematic sampling within each split to reduce the risk of leakage across the evaluation boundary. On the 746,094-record test set, the proposed hybrid IDS achieved 99.73% accuracy, 99.89% precision, 99.83% recall, 99.86% F1-score, and a false positive rate of 4.77%. The corresponding confusion matrix contains TN = 16,683, FP = 836, FN = 1205, and TP = 727,370, yielding 95.23% specificity and 97.53% balanced accuracy. Standalone Random Forest marginally outperformed the hybrid model in raw accuracy and false positive rate; therefore, the contribution of the proposed framework is centered on deployment-oriented anomaly monitoring, drift awareness, and generalization rather than absolute superiority in static classification metrics. A leave-one-attack-family-out experiment withholding MITM-ArpSpoofing from training showed that the hybrid model detected 85.26% of the unseen attack-family samples, compared with 85.18% for Random Forest alone and 7.05% for Isolation Forest alone. These findings provide initial evidence of generalization to one held-out attack family but should not be interpreted as proof of broad zero-day detection capability. The framework is therefore positioned as a competitive IDS that combines supervised detection with anomaly monitoring and concept drift awareness for deployment-oriented IoT security. Full article

Background/Objectives: Patient education (PE) is a key component in the management of chronic conditions, including living with an entero-urostomy. Exploring patients’ and caregivers’ experiences may inform the development of tailored educational interventions. This study aimed to explore the perceptions, experiences, and needs of adult oncology patients with entero-urostomies and their caregivers as part of the patient education process. Methods: A descriptive qualitative study was conducted at a single Italian cancer centre using two focus group sessions integrated with PE activities. Discussions were audio-recorded and analysed through thematic analysis following the framework described by Dawadi. NVivo was used to support data management and facilitate the assessment of data saturation. Results: A total of 28 participants (15 patients and 13 caregivers) were recruited. Three main themes emerged: translational patient education as a co-constructed educational process, time as a protective and regulatory resource in everyday stoma management and living with a stoma requires adaptation and meaning-making. The first theme describes a dynamic integration of clinical, peer, and relational knowledge co-constructed by nurses, patients, and caregivers. The second theme referred to the perception of time and care contexts, including telenursing, as protective spaces supporting anticipatory coping and daily life planning. The last theme captured the embodied and psychological adaptation to living with a stoma, characterised by heterogeneous processes of acceptance and meaning-making. Conclusions: PE emerges as a relational and interactive process that supports self-care, emotional adjustment, and quality of life. The concept of translational patient education, as part of the patient education process, offers a novel framework for integrating multiple forms of knowledge within educational practices, strengthening the person-centred nature of PE programmes. These findings support the development of tailored, person-centred PE interventions that incorporate the dynamic educational ecosystem involving patients, caregivers, and stoma care nurses. They also highlight the need for further research to validate this conceptual model across diverse settings and populations. Full article

This study analyzes peer mentoring as an institutional mechanism that may support students’ transition to higher education, addressing a gap in the literature regarding how mentoring might influence academic affiliation, sense of belonging and social inclusion, simultaneously. Based on an integrated analytical framework that combines the concepts of the “student’s craft,” belonging and mentoring for social inclusion, the research adopts a mixed-methods approach grounded in methodological triangulation, including quantitative data from questionnaires applied to mentors and mentees, as well as qualitative evidence from sharing sessions and observation. In the context studied, results suggest that peer mentoring functions as a form of institutional mediation through which students access and interpret the norms and practices of university life, with relational support appearing central to translating that knowledge into meaningful engagement. Within the mentoring program in question, participation was also associated with students’ reported sense of belonging and academic affiliation, as interrelated processes whose perceived impact varied across students’ diverse trajectories, particularly among international students. Furthermore, the study highlights the reciprocal nature of mentoring, promoting development and participation among both mentees and mentors. Peer mentoring is not an isolated intervention, but rather part of a broader institutional ecosystem that can impact student inclusion, participation and success. Full article

Background: White brined cheese represents one of the most important traditional fermented dairy products in Bulgaria. Its microbiological quality is commonly evaluated through the detection of foodborne pathogens; however, such an approach provides limited information regarding production hygiene and the natural microbial ecosystem of the product. Methods: The present study performed an integrated microbiological assessment of 100 Bulgarian white brined cow’s milk cheese samples (50 artisanal and 50 industrial) by simultaneously evaluating hygiene indicator microorganisms (Escherichia coli and coagulase-positive staphylococci), major foodborne pathogens (Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella spp.), and the natural yeast microbiota using standardized ISO methods. Yeast species were identified by MALDI–TOF MS, and statistical analyses were performed using Fisher’s exact test and the Mann–Whitney U test. Results: Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp., and coagulase-positive staphylococci were not detected in any cheese sample. Escherichia coli was detected in only two samples (2.0%), with no significant difference between artisanal and industrial cheeses (p > 0.05). In contrast, yeasts were detected in 99% of the samples, and nine yeast taxa were identified. Significant differences in yeast species distribution were observed between production systems, with Torulaspora delbrueckii predominating in artisanal cheeses and Debaryomyces hansenii in industrial products (p < 0.001). Conclusions: The results demonstrate that artisanal white brined cheese is not inherently associated with a higher microbiological risk when good manufacturing and hygienic practices are applied. This paper explores the relationship between John Cage’s seminal work 4′33″ and the philosophies of Zen and Mahāyāna Buddhism, while reflecting on the limitations of Western philosophical frameworks in cross-cultural musical analysis. Existing scholarship has primarily focused on musical structure, performance practice, audience perception, and interpretations through Western theories such as those of Ludwig Wittgenstein and postmodernism, with limited attention to the influence of Eastern philosophy on Cage’s creative thought. Drawing on Mahāyāna concepts including emptiness, dependent origination, and the Two Truths, this study argues that the work’s use of silence encourages contemplation of the impermanence and relational nature of all phenomena. The paper further critiques the tendency to impose Western theoretical models upon Eastern thought, advocating instead for an experience-centred approach to cross-cultural analysis. It contends that 4′33″ is not merely an experimental musical work, but also a practical manifestation of Zen philosophy at the auditory and perceptual levels. Full article

In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to limiting the use of nitrates and nitrites in meat products due to concerns regarding their potential health implications. Despite their important technological role in ensuring microbiological safety, oxidative stability, and the development of sensory characteristics of meat products, their use raises health concerns among consumers. These concerns are primarily associated with the potential formation of N-nitrosamines, some of which have been classified possible human carcinogens. In this context, there is growing interest in natural functional additives consistent with the clean-label concept and the zero-waste approach, including raw materials derived from fruit-processing by-products. Fruit-processing by-products, especially berry pomace, are a rich source of phenolic compounds with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Current evidence indicates that the bioactive compounds present in berry pomaces effectively reduce lipid oxidation and exhibit antimicrobial potential, which may contribute to inhibiting the growth of undesirable microorganisms in meat products. However, the effectiveness of this activity depends on several factors, including the type of berry pomace, its phenolic profile, the form of application (e.g., powder, extract, or freeze-dried material), the concentration applied, the type of meat product and the storage conditions. Consequently, berry pomaces should be regarded as natural ingredients supporting nitrite reduction strategies in meat products rather than as complete substitutes for nitrites. Furthermore, although berry pomaces exhibit considerable functional potential, their effectiveness in reducing nitrite levels depends on the type of meat product, its formulation, and the applied processing conditions. Among berry pomaces, red currant pomace (Ribes rubrum) has recently attracted increasing scientific interest because of its rich phenolic profile and promising functional properties. However, compared with chokeberry, blueberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant pomaces, relatively few studies have investigated its application in meat products. Therefore, further research is needed to confirm its technological functionality, antimicrobial efficacy, and potential contribution to nitrite-reduction strategies under different meat-processing conditions. Natural products remain a major source of structurally diverse and biologically active small molecules, yet traditional activity-guided discovery is labor-intensive and prone to rediscovery, while untargeted genome mining often lacks efficient prioritization criteria for biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs). Self-resistance-gene guided discovery has emerged as a powerful strategy to address this limitation. In producing organisms, toxic metabolites are typically accompanied by genetically encoded self-protection mechanisms, such as resistant target homologs, duplicated housekeeping genes, detoxification enzymes, repair systems, or transporters. When co-localized with BGCs, these determinants serve as functional markers for predicting bioactivity and, in some cases, molecular targets prior to compound isolation. Over the past decade, this concept has evolved into a target-directed genome mining framework supported by tools and databases including ARTS, FunARTS, antiSMASH, and MIBiG. This review summarizes the biological basis, workflow, representative advances, and limitations of this strategy. Self-resistance genes can thus be viewed as functional beacons for accelerating bioactive natural product discovery. Full article

Trained immunity refers to the functional reprogramming of innate immune cells—such as monocytes, macrophages, and natural killer cells—those results in a modulated, and often heightened, response to secondary stimuli. This phenomenon challenges the traditional view that immunological memory is restricted to the adaptive immune system and has emerged as a concept linking host defense, vaccination, and inflammatory disease. This review synthesizes current evidence on the molecular basis of trained immunity, including chromatin remodeling, histone modifications, and metabolic rewiring, and examines how bacteria, viruses, and fungi induce, evade, or exploit these programs. The dual contribution of trained immunity to protective host defense and to immunopathology is discussed, along with its implications for vaccine design—including heterologous protection reported after BCG vaccination—and its potential as a therapeutic target in infectious and inflammatory disease. Key gaps, particularly the duration and reversibility of the trained state, the distinction between trained immunity and related processes such as innate tolerance, and the need for validated biomarkers, are highlighted, together with priorities for future translational research.
