Mobile Banking Adoption: A Multi-Factorial Study on Social Influence, Compatibility, Digital Self-Efficacy, and Perceived Cost Among Generation Z Consumers in the United States

The introduction of mobile banking is essential in today’s financial sector, where technological innovation plays a critical role. To remain competitive in the current market, businesses must analyze client attitudes and perspectives, as these influence long-term demand and overall profitability. While previous studies have explored general adoption behaviors, limited research has examined how individual factors such as social influence, lifestyle compatibility, financial technology self-efficacy, and perceived usage cost affect mobile banking adoption among specific generational cohorts. This study addresses that gap by offering insights into these variables, contributing to the growing literature on mobile banking adoption, and presenting actionable recommendations for financial institutions targeting younger market segments. Using a structured questionnaire survey, data were collected from both users and non-users of mobile banking among the Gen Z population in the United States. The regression model significantly predicts mobile banking adoption, with an intercept of 0.548 (p < 0.001). Among the independent variables, perceived cost of usage has the strongest positive effect on adoption (B=0.857, β=0.722, p < 0.001), suggesting that adoption increases when mobile banking is perceived as more affordable. Social influence also has a significant positive impact (B=0.642, β=0.643, p < 0.001), indicating that peer influence is a central driver of adoption decisions. However, self-efficacy shows a significant negative relationship (B=0.343, β=0.339, p < 0.001), and lifestyle compatibility was found to be statistically insignificant (p=0.615). These findings suggest that reducing perceived costs, through lower fees, data bundling, or clearer communication about affordability, can directly enhance adoption among Gen Z consumers. Furthermore, leveraging peer influence via referral rewards, Partnerships with influencers, and in-app social features can increase user adoption. Since digital self-efficacy presents a barrier for some, banks should prioritize simplifying user interfaces and offering guided assistance, such as tutorials or chat-based support. Future research may employ longitudinal designs or analyze real-life transaction data for a more objective understanding of behavior. Additional variables like trust, perceived risk, and regulatory policies, not included in this study, should be integrated into future models to offer a more comprehensive analysis. Full article

Background/Objectives: Early experiences can significantly influence brain development, particularly when they occur during specific time windows known as sensitive or critical periods. Therefore, the early promotion of neurodevelopmental functions is crucial in children at risk for neurodevelopmental disabilities, such as those with cerebral palsy. This article introduces AMIRA (A Multidimensional and Integrated Rehabilitation Approach), a rehabilitative framework designed for infants at risk of neurodevelopmental disabilities. Methods: AMIRA is intended to guide clinical–rehabilitation reasoning rather than prescribe a rigid sequence of predetermined activities for the child. The theoretical foundation and structure of AMIRA are presented by formalizing its criteria, objectives, tools, and intervention procedures. The framework comprises four distinct sections, each supported by adaptive strategies to facilitate access to materials and to promote play-based interactions among the child, their environment, and communication partners. Particular attention is given to optimizing both micro- and macro-environments for children with, or at risk of, co-occurring visual impairment. Each rehabilitative section includes three progressive phases: an initial observation phase, a facilitation phase to support the child’s engagement, and an active experimentation phase that gradually introduces more challenging tasks. Results: The intervention pathways in AMIRA are organized according to six core developmental domains: behavioral–emotional self-regulation, visual function, postural–motor skills, praxis, interaction and communication, and cognitive function. These are outlined in structured charts that serve as flexible guidelines rather than prescriptive protocols. Each chart presents activities of increasing complexity aligned with typical developmental milestones up to 24 months of age. For each specific ability, the corresponding habilitation goals, contextual recommendations (including environmental setup, objects, and tools), and suggested activities are provided. Conclusions: This study presents a detailed intervention approach, offering both a practical framework and a structured set of activities for use in rehabilitative settings. Further studies will explore the efficacy of the proposed standardized approach. Full article

Depression and Anxiety Changes Associated with Matched Increases in Physical Activity in Education-, Self-Regulation-, and Self-Regulation Plus Relaxation-Based Obesity Treatments in Women: A Pilot Study Investigating Implications for Controlling Emotional Eating

Background/Objectives: Improvements in depression and anxiety, associated with moderate increases in physical activity, might induce reductions in emotional eating, especially in women with obesity, where emotion-driven eating is highly problematic. This pilot, field-based study sought to assess whether physical activity increase, itself, primarily predicts improved mood (biochemical theories) or if psychosocial factors associated with cognitive–behavioral treatment are principal correlates (behavioral theories). An aim was to inform improved treatment processes. Methods: Women with obesity participated in 6-month community-based behavioral obesity treatments emphasizing either: (a) standard education in weight-reduction methods (n = 28), (b) eating-related self-regulation methods (n = 24), or (c) self-regulation + relaxation training (n = 24). They completed a series of behavioral and psychological self-reports at baseline and Months 3 and 6. Results: Findings confirmed no significant difference in 3-month increases in physical activity, by group. There were significantly greater overall improvements in depression, emotional eating, self-regulation, and self-efficacy across the two self-regulation-focused groups (ps < 0.02), with anxiety improvement not reaching significance (p = 0.055). Separate significant paths from 3-month changes in depression and anxiety → self-efficacy change → emotional eating change were found. The same significant path was detected emanating from 6-month anxiety change; however, the hypothesized path of 6-month changes in depression → self-regulation → self-efficacy → emotional eating was, rather, significant. Weight reduction was considerably greater in the two self-regulation-based groups (~6% reduction), with simultaneously entered changes in self-regulation and self-efficacy significant predictors of those weight changes. Conclusions: Findings suggested viability in behavioral theory-driven explanations of the physical activity-mood improvement relationship. Future treatment foci on self-regulatory skills development leading to improvements in eating-related self-efficacy, emotional eating, and weight were suggested to extend the findings of this pilot study. Background: Intermediate care units face growing complexity due to aging populations and chronic illnesses. Non-technical skills such as empathy and communication are crucial for quality care. We aimed to examine the relationship between communication skills, self-efficacy, and sense of coherence among intermediate care nurses. Methods: We conducted an observational, cross-sectional study with 60 intermediate care nurses from three units in a Catalan hospital, Spain. Participants engaged in high-fidelity simulation using geriatric end-of-life scenarios with an ultra-realistic manikin representing a geriatric patient at the end of life. NTSs were measured using validated tools: the Health Professionals Communication Skills Scale (HP-CSS), the General Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Sense of Coherence Questionnaire (OLQ-13). Sessions followed INACSL standards, including prebriefing, simulation, and debriefing phases. Results: Post-simulation outcomes revealed significant gains in interpersonal competencies, with men reporting higher assertiveness (p = 0.015) and greater satisfaction with both the simulation experience (p = 0.003) and the instructor (p = 0.008), underscoring gender-related perceptions in immersive training. Conclusions: Ultra-realistic clinical simulation is effective in enhancing NTS among intermediate care nurses, contributing to improved care quality and clearer professional profiles in geriatric nursing. Objective: To explore the experiences and self-efficacy of parent-caregivers providing care for a child with a tracheostomy tube. Study Design: Parent-caregivers completed surveys and participated in semi-structured interviews about their experiences learning to care for their child with a tracheostomy tube. Survey data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed thematically through coding. Results: Fifteen parent-caregivers participated in the survey, 13 of whom completed an interview. After receiving a tracheostomy, children were hospitalized a median of 6 months prior to discharge home. At the time of our study, children had been home for a median of 3.5 years. Parent-caregivers felt more prepared to perform routine daily care compared to triaging a change in medical status. Parent-caregiver self-efficacy in performing tracheostomy care skills improved with experience at home. Four themes were identified from interviews: new identity formation, enduring education, child and family biopsychosocial support, and establishing normalcy. Parent-caregivers shared that education was more than just acquiring skills; it also involved discovering diverse ways of learning and building confidence in one’s own abilities to fulfill the many types of roles they serve to successfully care for and keep their child safe while supporting their social and emotional needs as parent-caregivers. Conclusions: Parent-caregivers’ reflections on their experiences provide critical insight into their psychosocial needs and challenges in providing care to children with tracheostomies. Further investigation of lived experiences is vital to shaping a community that can support families of medically complex children. Full article

All individuals hold beliefs about their ability to successfully perform specific tasks. These beliefs, known as self-efficacy, play a key role in guiding and motivating human behavior. In education, both teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs and the collective efficacy shared by teachers within a school have been linked to improved performance, well-being, and job satisfaction among students and educators. While these constructs have been widely studied in various countries and contexts, little is known about them in Mexico, the country with the largest Spanish-speaking population worldwide. This study is the first to examine the relationship between teacher self-efficacy (TSE), collective efficacy, and other teacher- and school-level variables in Mexico. Given the absence of psychometrically robust instruments to assess collective efficacy among Spanish-speaking teachers, the Collective Teacher Beliefs Scale (CTBS) was first adapted into Spanish, and its psychometric properties were evaluated. Subsequently, multilevel analyses incorporating teacher- and school-level factors revealed that professional development on multicultural communication, classroom autonomy, and collaboration, at the teacher level, and collective efficacy and stakeholder participation, at the school level, were significant predictors of TSE. Based on ecological systems theory, adolescents’ school climates can influence family interactions. In this study, it was tested whether associations between adolescents’ and parents’ perceptions of school climate in 7th grade (Wave 1) and adolescents’ later psychological functioning in 11th grade (Wave 4) were partially mediated by parental self-efficacy and parenting practices when the adolescents were in 8th grade (Wave 3). Path analyses were conducted in MPlus v. 7.4. Among 660 Black American families from the Maryland Adolescent Development in Context Study, adolescents’ positive perceptions of school climate were directly related to fewer internalizing and externalizing symptoms, higher resourcefulness, and higher self-esteem. Adolescents’ perceptions of school climate were also indirectly related to their externalizing symptoms through parent–adolescent communication and conflict. Adolescents who reported more positive school climates reported higher parent–adolescent communication and lower parent–adolescent conflict. Adolescents’ reports of school climate were also indirectly associated with self-esteem. Parents’ perceptions of school climate were not directly related to adolescents’ psychological functioning but were directly related to parental self-efficacy and parent–adolescent communication. They were also indirectly related to adolescents’ externalizing symptoms through parental self-efficacy. Parental self-efficacy was positively related to parent–adolescent communication and parents’ home-based school involvement. Overall, the findings highlight the role of school context in adolescents’ psychological functioning and family processes. Full article

Background: Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is a neurodegenerative disease characterised by progressive impairment of speech and language abilities. Intensive speech and language teletherapy combined with remotely supervised, self-administered transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) may be suited to remove barriers to accessing potentially effective treatments, but there is only limited evidence on the feasibility of this combined approach. Methods: This pilot case series investigated the feasibility, tolerability and preliminary efficacy of a novel telerehabilitation programme combined with home-based, self-administered tDCS for people with primary progressive aphasia (pwPPA). The intervention programme was co-developed with pwPPA and their caregivers, to reflect their priorities regarding treatment content and outcomes (i.e., naming, functional communication). Results: Two pwPPA successfully completed the telerehabilitation intervention with daily naming training and communicative-pragmatic therapy paired with tDCS, over 10 consecutive workdays. Caregivers assisted in the setup of equipment required for teletherapy and home-based tDCS. Participants successfully completed the programme with a 95% completion rate. Home-based tDCS was well tolerated. Both participants showed improvements in naming and communication, suggesting preliminary efficacy of the intervention. Conclusions: Overall, this study demonstrates the feasibility and potential benefit of a novel, easily accessible and patient-relevant telerehabilitation intervention for pwPPA, which requires confirmation in a future larger-scale exploratory trial. Social media applications (SMAs) stand at the forefront of emerging technologies in language education due to their transformative potential to enhance English speaking skills. Unlike traditional tools, SMAs leverage features like real-time communication, multimedia integration, and global connectivity, fostering authentic, meaningful interactions in socially engaging environments. Although learning management systems (LMSs) such as Brightspace have been predominantly used to conduct English language learning activities, including peer feedback, SMAs like Facebook offer unique affordances that may further promote student engagement and confidence. Developing public speaking skills is critical for effective communication in English language education; however, many students struggle with self-efficacy, speaking anxiety, and providing meaningful feedback to peers. Given the potential benefits of SMAs, this study explored their comparative impact on three dimensions of English language learning: English public speaking self-efficacy, peer feedback self-efficacy, and English speaking performance. This quasi-experimental study used a pretest–posttest design with undergraduate students (n = 15) at a large Midwestern university in the United States. Independent sample t-tests were conducted to compare outcomes between the Facebook and Brightspace groups. The results revealed that both SMAs and LMSs were equally effective platforms for peer feedback activities, with no significant differences found between groups across the three targeted areas of learning. This study presents the guideline and preliminary results of a randomized controlled community trial of group-based nutrition interventions for obesity management in Brazilian Primary Health Care (PHC), occurring between 2022 and 2023. Belo Horizonte PHC units were randomly sampled and allocated to the control (CG) or intervention group (IG). Participants were those in preparation with high self-efficacy, action, or maintenance stages of change for weight reduction who were willing to participate in groups. CG participants received usual care, while IG participants were allocated into two therapeutic groups (TGs): non-severe (TG1) or severe obesity (TG2). We analyzed demographics data, stages of change and self-efficacy for weight reduction, and intervention adherence. The six-month theory-based interventions included face-to-face groups (TG1:7; TG2:9) and phone messages and postcards delivered (TG1:4; TG2:5). There were 1120 participants. Most were women, with a median age of 61.4 years; 45.4% were in the maintenance stage of change for weight reduction, and 76.1% had high self-efficacy. A total of 350 groups were held, 13,473 phone calls made, and 1973 postcards delivered. The median adherence was 52.4%. The reach and adherence to groups demonstrate their viability and scalable potential for the treatment of obesity in Brazilian PHC, contributing to the strengthening of chronic disease management actions. As organizations become increasingly projectified, safeguarding the resilience of project professionals and teams emerges as a critical organizational challenge. Adopting a systems lens, we investigate how agile mindsets and agile practices function as systemic antecedents of resilience at the individual and team levels. Eleven semi-structured interviews with experienced project managers, product owners, and team members from diverse industries were analyzed through inductive thematic coding and system mapping. The findings show that mindset supplies psychological resources—self-efficacy, openness and a learning orientation—while practices such as team autonomy, iterative delivery and transparent communication provide structural routines; together they trigger five interlocking mechanisms: empowerment, fast responsiveness, holistic team dynamics, stakeholder-ecosystem engagement and continuous learning. These mechanisms reinforce one another in feedback loops that boost a project system’s adaptive capacity under volatility. The synergy of mindset and practices is especially valuable in hybrid or traditionally governed projects, where cognitive agility offsets structural rigidity. This study offers the first multi-level, systems-based explanation of agile antecedents of resilience and delivers actionable levers for executives, transformation leaders, project professionals, and HR specialists aiming to sustain talent performance in turbulent contexts. While handgrip strength (HGS), fall efficacy, and balance confidence have individually been associated with fall risk, their combined predictive value is still underexplored, particularly in physically active older adults. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between HGS, fall efficacy, and balance confidence and their association with fall risk in community-dwelling older adults engaged in regular exercise programs; A cross-sectional study was conducted with 280 participants aged 55 and over from community exercise programs near Lisbon, Portugal. Fall risk was assessed through self-reported falls in the past 12 months. HGS was measured with a dynamometer, fall efficacy using the Falls Efficacy Scale-International (FES-I), and balance confidence using the Activities-specific Balance Confidence (ABC) Scale. Statistical analyses included Spearman correlations and binary logistic regression. Results: Falls were reported by 26.4% of participants. Fall efficacy and balance confidence were significantly associated with fall history, while HGS was not. Fall efficacy was significantly associated with increased fall risk, as indicated by the odds ratio (OR = 3.37, p < 0.001), while balance confidence was negatively associated (OR = 0.95, p < 0.001). HGS was positively correlated with balance and confidence but not with fall incidence. Conclusions: Psychological factors, particularly fall efficacy and balance confidence, play a critical role in fall risk among physically active older adults. However, this study included physically active middle-aged and older adults living in the community, which should be considered when interpreting the generalizability of the results. These findings support the integration of simple, validated psychological assessments into fall prevention strategies in community settings. Full article

Pathways Linking ICT Use to Chronic Disease Self-Management Among Older Adults with Comorbidities in Shanghai, China

Background: The mechanisms through which information and communication technology (ICT) use influences chronic disease self-management remain unclear. Method: This cross-sectional investigation examined the mediating effects of health literacy, social support, and self-efficacy on the association between ICT use and self-management behaviors among older adults (≥60 years) with comorbidities in China (n = 520). The participants were recruited from a tertiary hospital in Shanghai (July 2023–June 2024), and data on sociodemographics, self-management, health literacy, social support, self-efficacy, and ICT use were collected via structured questionnaires. Results: Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed a significant association between ICT use, health literacy, social support, self-efficacy, and chronic disease self-management (p < 0.001). Multiple mediation modeling revealed a direct positive effect of ICT use on self-management (b = 1.3314, 95% CI = 0.6629, 2.0002). Furthermore, significant indirect effects were observed, mediated independently by both health literacy and social support. Additional serial mediation pathways included health literacy → social support, health literacy → self-efficacy, social support → self-efficacy, and a comprehensive pathway from health literacy through social support to self-efficacy. Conclusions: These findings collectively indicate that ICT use directly enhances chronic disease self-management among older adults with comorbidities. Moreover, ICT use indirectly improves self-management by enhancing health literacy, augmenting social support, and bolstering self-efficacy. Full article

Background/Objectives: Breast cancer (BCA) is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. Screening has been linked to up to a 33% reduction in breast cancer-related deaths by helping detect tumors at an early stage. The successful implementation of community-based breast cancer screening programs depends on understanding the attitudes of women within the target community. This study aims to systematically review the literature to assess the association between women’s attitudes toward breast cancer screening and their life satisfaction and general attitudes toward life. We also aimed to examine women’s attitudes toward breast cancer screening recommendations and the factors that influence these attitudes. Methods: A systematic review of English-language literature was carried out. PubMed and Scopus were searched up to November 2024 for studies that met the predefined inclusion criteria. Methodologic quality was assessed using the adapted Newcastle–Ottawa Scale for cross-sectional studies and the corresponding scale for cohort studies. Results: Eleven studies met the inclusion criteria. The percentage of women who had undergone at least one breast cancer screening ranged from 8.3% to 94.5%. Women’s attitudes toward and participation in breast cancer screening were linked to psychological, social, and demographic factors. Lower levels of life satisfaction, self-efficacy, and perceived control or mastery in life, along with higher levels of non-work-related stress, and higher levels of optimism, were associated with a lower likelihood of participating in breast cancer screening. Background/Objectives: This study assessed teacher self-efficacy in school-based asthma management in two southern states in the United States. Current literature focuses primarily on supporting school-based asthma management, but few studies have focused on teacher self-efficacy in the asthma management process. Methods: With data collected from a two-state survey of a randomly selected group of teachers in grades kindergarten to grade eight (n = 379), teachers’ demographic variables, general opinions about asthma management practices, and their self-perceptions on the Teacher Asthma Management and Information Seeking Scale, which assesses self-efficacy, were examined. Results: Teachers’ self-efficacy in managing asthma and seeking information was significantly higher among teachers who had completed in-service professional learning sessions and those who had access to community resources or links to community agencies. Additionally, teachers with personal experience of chronic illness, asthma, or allergies and those who had students with chronic illnesses in their classrooms reported higher self-efficacy scores. Conclusions: Findings suggest that providing professional learning about asthma for teachers, offering access to asthma action plans and community resources, and increasing awareness of chronic conditions and training for handling medical emergencies can enhance teachers’ self-efficacy and improve outcomes for students with chronic illnesses.
