This study provides a bibliometric analysis of global research on surfactant applications in subsurface remediation over the period 2010–2025, with the objective of mapping the scientific development, knowledge structure, and emerging research fronts in this field. A total of 359 documents indexed in Scopus were examined in February 2025 using bibliometric methods, including citation analysis, total link strength (TLS), co-authorship networks, and keyword co-occurrence mapping and included English-language research articles, review papers, conference papers, and book chapters. Visualization and analytical outputs were generated using tools such as VOSviewer to interpret research patterns and relationships. The annual number of publications increased steadily throughout the study period, corresponding to an average yearly growth rate of 6.9%. The citation structure is highly uneven, where a relatively small number of publications and authors contribute disproportionately to overall citation impact. Review papers play a central role in consolidating knowledge and guiding research development, reflecting increasing consolidation of the field. Keyword analysis reveals a stable core focus on surfactant-enhanced remediation, alongside emerging topics such as PFAS contamination, biosurfactants, and integrated surfactant–oxidation treatment systems. Overall, this study offers a structured quantitative overview of the intellectual landscape of surfactant-based remediation research and identifies key trends, gaps, and future directions for advancing sustainable subsurface contamination management. Background: Diabetes mellitus remains one of the most extensively researched conditions in global health, with a rapidly growing body of literature addressing its prevention, management, and treatment. Characterising highly cited diabetes-related research helps identify research trends, shifts in scientific priorities, and factors associated with citation impact in diabetes research. Objective: This study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis of the top 100 most-cited diabetes-related records published between 2011 and 2022, in order to describe major scientific contributions and citation patterns in this field. Methods: The search was conducted in April 2023 using the Web of Science Core Collection, Science Citation Index Expanded. Records containing the term “diabetes” were retrieved using the topic field and ranked according to total Web of Science citation count. The top 300 records were screened, and the 100 eligible diabetes-related records were selected for detailed analysis. Extracted data included title, citation count, citation density, PubMed Central (PMC) citations, patent citations, h-index, journal, year of publication, country of origin, study type, funding sources, and authorship patterns. Descriptive and correlational analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics, version 27.0.1.0. Results: The 100 most-cited records accumulated 174,857 citations, with individual citation counts ranging from 832 to 5898. Most records were original research articles (68%), followed by reviews (27%). The most frequently represented journals were Diabetes Care (n = 21), New England Journal of Medicine (n = 20), and The Lancet (n = 9). The United States contributed 45% of the records. A strong positive correlation was observed between total Web of Science citations and PMC citations using both Pearson correlation (r = 0.863) and Spearman rank correlation (ρ = 0.834). The association between total citations and first-author h-index was weak and not statistically significant. Patent citation analysis showed that 41 records were cited in at least one patent. Most records acknowledged funding, with both public-sector and pharmaceutical funders represented among the most frequently reported sources. Conclusions: This study characterises highly cited diabetes-related research published from 2011 to 2022. The findings suggest that clinical trials, reviews, guidelines, collaborative research, patent citation activity, and publication in high-visibility journals were common features of highly cited diabetes-related records, although citation-based indicators should be interpreted with caution. Purpose: This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of AI integration in banking, mapping research trends, intellectual structures, and performance-related themes. While AI’s growing importance in financial services has attracted scholarly attention, bibliometric studies specifically focusing on the AI-banking-performance triad remain limited. This study addresses this gap by systematically mapping the research dynamics, intellectual structure, and thematic evolution of this domain. Materials and Methods: Publications were retrieved from the Scopus database using predefined search criteria, resulting in 891 articles published between 2014 and 2024. Bibliometric indicators were employed to examine publication trends, authorship patterns, and institutional contributions. VOSviewer (version 1.6.20) and the R-based Bibliometrix (version 4.3.3) package were used to construct co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrence maps, co-citation structures, and thematic maps. Results: Findings reveal exponential growth, particularly after 2018, with a peak of 277 articles in 2024. IEEE Access and Expert Systems with Applications are the leading sources, while Baesens B. emerges as a highly influential author. China and India dominate output, though European countries achieve higher per-article impact. Highly cited works focus on credit scoring, fraud detection, fintech, and financial inclusion. Conceptual mapping identifies five thematic clusters, with “AI in banking” as a motor theme, NLP as a niche, and credit detection as emerging. Conclusions: AI research in banking is rapidly expanding, interdisciplinary, and globally distributed. Theoretically, the findings are framed by TAM, TPB, DOI, and Dynamic Capabilities Theory, revealing that AI adoption represents a multi-level phenomenon spanning individual acceptance, institutional diffusion, and strategic reconfiguration. These theoretical lenses explain why fraud detection and credit scoring dominate as early adoptions while NLP and governance remain underdeveloped. The study highlights key contributors, emerging themes, and future research directions. However, findings are constrained by reliance on a single database (Scopus), exclusion of non-English and non-peer-reviewed sources, and inherent limitations of bibliometric methods. Full article

Background/Objectives: Burnout among healthcare professionals has emerged as a major occupational and organizational challenge with important implications for workforce sustainability, patient safety, and healthcare system performance. Although the scientific literature on burnout has expanded substantially, an integrated understanding of its global development, research structure, and scientific impact remains limited. This study aimed to examine the evolution, thematic development, and citation dynamics of burnout research among healthcare professionals through an integrated bibliometric approach combining science mapping, multilevel citation modelling, and critical literature synthesis. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection between 1987 and 2024. Science mapping techniques were applied using Bibliometrix and VOSviewer to evaluate publication trends, collaboration networks, thematic development, and citation patterns. In addition, a multilevel negative binomial regression model was used to identify publication characteristics associated with citation impact. Results: A total of 1232 publications were included in the analysis. Scientific production increased markedly after 2020, temporally coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic and growing scientific interest in healthcare workforce wellbeing. Research output was concentrated in high-income countries, particularly the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Physicians and nurses dominated the literature, while non-clinical healthcare workers remained underrepresented. The thematic analysis indicated an increasing emphasis on organizational and system-level determinants of burnout alongside the continued presence of individual-centered perspectives. The multilevel negative binomial model identified longer title length and a greater number of author-provided keywords as being associated with lower expected citation counts, whereas a greater number of Keywords Plus terms was associated with higher expected citation counts. Conclusions: Burnout research has evolved into a rapidly expanding and increasingly interdisciplinary field. However, important gaps persist regarding geographic representation, workforce diversity, methodological standardization, and organizational intervention research. Future studies should move beyond descriptive approaches and further evaluate organizational interventions and workforce-related strategies to strengthen the evidence base that may inform healthcare policy and organizational practice. Artificial intelligence is reshaping scientific research, yet its contribution may be associated with whether methods are matched to the types of research problems. This study investigates this question in medical informatics using 40,107 articles published during 2000–2024. Large language models are used to identify three AI method families—traditional machine learning, neural network methods, and generative AI—while a knowledge-distilled classifier groups studies into three problem types: comprehension-oriented, solution-oriented, and exploration-oriented. The study then examines how different problem–method combinations are associated with citation impact and recombinatorial novelty. AI use increased sharply after 2018 and became increasingly embedded in medical informatics. All three methods are positively associated with citation impact, with relatively stronger associations for generative AI. Associations vary by problem type: all three methods are positively associated with impact in solution-oriented studies; neural networks and generative AI are positively associated with impact in comprehension-oriented studies, whereas neural networks are negatively associated with impact in exploration-oriented studies. Traditional machine learning is positively associated with novelty in comprehension-oriented and solution-oriented studies, whereas neural networks are positively associated only in solution-oriented studies. These findings suggest that AI’s contribution to science is associated with specific problem–method combinations and that broad claims about AI’s role can obscure heterogeneity across research tasks. This study analyzed the structural evolution of the Ecuadorian publishing ecosystem indexed in Scopus during the period 2016–2025 using indicators of scientific production, bibliometric impact, quartile positioning, citation concentration, editorial persistence, and women’s participation. Bibliometric information was obtained from the SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR) database by constructing a longitudinal journal-year panel of Ecuadorian scientific journals. The results revealed a sustained expansion of the national publishing ecosystem, reflected in substantial growth in publication output, journal coverage, citation performance, and average SJR values. However, this expansion was not accompanied by equivalent improvements in quartile positioning, as journals classified in Q3 and Q4 continued to predominate throughout the study period. The analysis also identified a high concentration of bibliometric impact within a limited set of journals, along with significant disciplinary transformations, characterized by the growing participation of Engineering and STEM-related fields. Female participation increased over time, although heterogeneous patterns persisted across disciplinary areas. To provide an integrated perspective on ecosystem evolution, a Composite Indicator of Editorial Development (CIED) was constructed, combining dimensions of visibility, citation efficiency, editorial coverage, quartile positioning, and impact dispersion. Overall, the findings indicate that the Ecuadorian publishing ecosystem has strengthened its editorial development and international visibility over the last decade, while persistent asymmetries in quartile distribution and citation concentration continue to pose important challenges to broader integration into the global structure of scientific communication. Background/Objectives: Assessing respiratory mechanics is essential for detecting early airway abnormalities. The Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT) and Impulse Oscillometry (IOS) have gained increasing recognition as complementary, effort-independent tools used in both research and clinical practice. This study aimed to provide a novel, comprehensive bibliometric overview of global research trends, impact, and emerging themes in FOT/IOS research. Methods: A systematic search of English-language articles and review articles related to FOT/IOS was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection to identify publications related to FOT and IOS. Data were analyzed using VOSviewer, Microsoft Excel, and Biblioshiny to examine publication trends, citation patterns, collaboration networks, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic evolution. In addition, manual data extraction was performed for the top 100 most-cited papers to describe their methodological, population, and technical characteristics. Results: A total of 1072 studies published between 1976 and 2025 were included after screening. Research activity increased markedly after 2005, peaking in 2022 and reflecting sustained growth over time. The United States and Australia were the leading contributing countries. Frequently occurring keywords, including “Asthma”, “Forced oscillation technique”, “Impulse oscillometry”, “Lung-function”, and “Spirometry”, emerged as major research themes. Thematic development over time revealed a transition from methodological and pediatric-focused themes to more clinically relevant and practical applications, highlighting the growing clinical significance of oscillometry. Conclusions: Global research on oscillometry has increased significantly over the past five decades, reflecting the growing recognition of FOT and IOS as complementary tools to conventional pulmonary function tests for small airway assessment. Future research directions include continued standardization, population-specific reference values, and the evaluation of oscillometry across diverse clinical settings. Full article

Natural, synthetic, and modified zeolites are widely recognized as versatile materials for environmental remediation due to their high capacity for cation-exchange, adjustable pore structure, and strong chemical stability. These properties enable their effective application in removing diverse contaminants, including heavy metals, ammonium ions, dyes, and various organic pollutants, making them highly relevant in water, wastewater, and soil treatment systems. However, although research in this field has expanded considerably, the overall global development patterns and knowledge structure of zeolite-related studies have not been thoroughly quantified. This study conducts a bibliometric assessment of global research on zeolite applications in water, wastewater, and soil remediation covering the period from 2010 to 2024, using a dataset of 203 peer-reviewed Scopus-indexed publications. The analysis was carried out using VOSviewer to examine publication trends, leading authors, productive countries and institutions, as well as thematic clusters and emerging research directions. The findings indicate a consistent increase in scientific output over the study period, with China, India, Malaysia, and the United States emerging as the most influential contributors in terms of both publication volume and citation impact. Key journals publishing in this area include the Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemosphere, and Science of the Total Environment. Keyword co-occurrence mapping reveals dominant research themes such as adsorption processes, ion exchange mechanisms, heavy metal remediation, nanostructured materials, and advanced oxidation technologies, highlighting a clear shift toward integrated and hybrid remediation approaches. Overall, the results emphasize the growing significance of modified and composite zeolite materials in enhancing pollutant removal efficiency and supporting sustainable environmental management. This bibliometric evaluation provides a structured overview of the research landscape and offers insights into future directions for zeolite-based remediation technologies. Full article

Nutritional deterioration in adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) may be present at diagnosis and may evolve rapidly during intensive chemotherapy, lower-intensity treatment, and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT). This structured narrative review critically examines nutritional screening and diagnostic instruments, anthropometry and body composition, laboratory-derived composite indices, and objective physical-function measures. PubMed was searched for publications from 1 January 2015 through 13 July 2026; Google Scholar and reference lists were used foradditional citation searching. Of 292 records screened, 52 full-text reports were assessed and 34 empirical studies were included. Methodological limitations were appraised with the 2018 Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Evidence was heterogeneous and predominantly observational. PG-SGA and NRS-2002 identified nutritional risk and nutrition-impact symptoms, but their classifications were not interchangeable with GLIM diagnosis, body-composition phenotyping, or prognostic indices. BMI alone did not capture muscle depletion. CT, quantitative CT, BIA-derived phase angle, skeletal muscle indices, and repeated anthropometry detected clinically relevant changes, although thresholds varied and fluid shifts may bias BIA. Albumin-based indices, including CONUT, sCONUT, NRI, GNRI, PNI, and the C-reactive protein/albumin ratio, were associated with outcomes in several retrospective cohorts, but largely reflect inflammation, disease burden, and treatment effects as well as nutrition; no head-to-head evidence establishes superiority. SPPB, gait speed, walking tests, chair stands, and grip strength provided prognostic information in selected older and transplant cohorts, including patients treated with hypomethylating agents plus venetoclax. The evidence supports repeated, multimodal assessment, while remaining insufficient to prove that any single tool or tool-guided intervention improves survival. Future studies require standardized definitions, sex-stratified validation, contemporary treatment cohorts, and trials integrating nutrition, symptom control, and exercise. Full article

Background: Extended reality (XR) technologies, including augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR), are increasingly used in craniomaxillofacial (CMF) surgery; yet, no study has systematically mapped the global development of this research. This study provides the first comprehensive evidence mapping of XR and related computational technologies in CMF surgery, identifying research trends, collaborative networks, and future directions. Methods: A systematic search of the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection (data extracted April 2025) combined XR terms (AR, MR, VR, image-guided surgery, and computer-assisted surgery) with CMF surgery terminology. After applying the inclusion criteria, 778 English-language articles published between 1988 and 2024 were analyzed using performance analysis and science mapping tools, including HistCite and VOSviewer. Results: Publication output grew exponentially, accelerating markedly after 2010. The Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery led in both volume and internal citation impact. The USA, Germany, and China accounted for most of the output, with Germany showing a disproportionately high internal citation impact relative to its publication volume. Three developmental phases were identified: foundational computer-assisted surgery (1990s–2000s), technological development and validation (2000s–2010s), and clinical application optimization centered on AR and VR (2010s–present). Co-authorship networks revealed strong regional clusters with limited cross-cluster connectivity. No publications were identified from African countries other than Egypt. Conclusions: XR research in CMF surgery has grown substantially over 36 years, with a clear shift toward AR and VR applications. Geographic concentration limited international collaboration, and a focus on technical rather than patient-centered outcomes remains a key challenge. Future work should prioritize global participation, comparative clinical evidence, and patient-reported outcomes to support wider surgical adoption. Full article

Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (CYPs/P450s) are versatile heme-containing enzymes involved in drug metabolism, steroidogenesis, secondary metabolite biosynthesis, and biotechnology. Although African researchers have contributed to P450 research for nearly four decades, no comprehensive assessment of African-led research has been conducted. This study presents a historical and bibliometric analysis of African-led P450 research published between 1987 and 2025 using PubMed and Web of Science. Of 1382 retrieved articles, 558 had African corresponding authors, and 149 included African co-authors. Research output increased markedly after 2011, with South Africa contributing 64% of African-led publications. Corresponding authors represented 31 African countries, while collaborations extended to 54 non-African countries, demonstrating strong international integration. Drug metabolism, pharmacology, and toxicology dominated the research landscape, followed by molecular biology, genomics, enzymology, and structural biology. African researchers have made important contributions to pharmacogenomics, steroidogenesis, insecticide resistance, microbial biotechnology, biosensors, and natural-product metabolism. Collectively, African-led publications have received more than 20,500 citations on Google Scholar, highlighting their global scientific impact. Despite this progress, important gaps remain in large-scale pharmacogenomics, structural biology, systems biology, industrial biotechnology, and omics-based studies. Overall, African researchers have made substantial contributions to global cytochrome P450 research and have created opportunities for future scientific growth and collaboration. Full article

This article presents a comprehensive ranking of popular Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methods, assessed across six dimensions of visibility and usage: general web presence, academic mentions, number of academic publications, citation impact, reported academic applications, and real-world (industrial and public sector) use cases. Rather than evaluating theoretical performance or methodological robustness, this study focuses on visibility and adoption, the extent to which an MCDA method has achieved prominence through name recognition, dissemination, academic use, and documented practical application. The observed ranking patterns are consistent with the possibility that method popularity is partly shaped by branding, dissemination dynamics, and cumulative visibility, rather than by demonstrated methodological superiority alone. AHP emerges as the most dominant method across all six criteria, followed by TOPSIS, PROMÉTHÉE, and VIKOR. Newer or more recently visible methods such as BWM demonstrate rapid academic growth, while software-supported methods such as PAPRIKA illustrate how dedicated tools can strengthen practical visibility. By contrast, established methods like ÉLECTRE and MACBETH, while academically respected, exhibit more niche or regionally concentrated use. The study also touches on the meta-cognitive irony that MCDA methods, designed to reduce bias and promote rational deliberation, may themselves be adopted in ways consistent with mechanisms such as availability, familiarity, and brand recognition. This raises concerns about the criteria by which methodological choices are made, particularly in academic modelling and industrial decision-support contexts. Ultimately, the findings suggest that while branding plays a legitimate role in method dissemination, it should not overshadow considerations of methodological transparency, theoretical coherence, and decision-context fit. By distinguishing between methodological performance and visibility/adoption, this article contributes to a more reflective discourse on the selection, teaching and development of MCDA methods and techniques. The ranking should therefore be interpreted as a comparative map of visibility and adoption, not as an assessment of methodological quality, theoretical soundness, or decision-analytic performance. Targeted Protein Degradation (TPD) has emerged as a transformative paradigm in drug discovery, offering a robust strategy to address “undruggable” targets. This study presents the first 25-year longitudinal scientometric analysis (2001–2025) of the TPD field, integrating data from 2750 publications across the Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, and PubMed to map the global research landscape and therapeutic innovations. The results indicate that TPD research entered an explosive growth phase post-2016. China leads in publication volume (1247 papers), while the USA maintains dominance in citation impact (H-index = 80) and foundational leadership. The Chinese Academy of Sciences and Harvard University were identified as core institutions, with Craig M. Crews confirmed as a pivotal scholar. Thematic analysis reveals a systematic evolution from foundational ubiquitin-proteasome mechanisms to the clinical translation of advanced modalities, including Proteolysis-Targeting Chimeras (PROTACs), molecular glues, and non-ubiquitin-dependent platforms like LYTACs and AUTACs. Clinical viability is evidenced by the FDA approval of the agent ARV-471 for oncology. Despite this progress, critical challenges remain regarding E3 ligase expansion, molecular design optimization, and off-target toxicity. This review provides a data-driven roadmap for future TPD development, bridging the gap between academic output and real-world translational science to guide researchers, clinicians, and industry partners in navigating this dynamic therapeutic frontier. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have undergone a remarkable transformation over the past two decades, evolving from a laboratory curiosity into one of the most actively investigated solvent platforms in green chemistry. Yet, despite this rapid expansion, and although the field is well served by numerous topical reviews, it still lacks a corpus-wide, cross-disciplinary synthesis capable of guiding strategic research priorities, identifying critical knowledge gaps, and informing policy and industrial investment decisions. The present work addresses this need through a thorough analysis of global DES research from 2003 to 2025, based on a deduplicated corpus of 17,757 publications retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus following PRISMA-adapted screening guidelines. The analysis maps temporal publication dynamics, geographic and institutional contributions, thematic evolution, journal landscape, component usage patterns, international collaboration networks, market projections, and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The results document an exponential growth trajectory—from a single publication in 2004 to 3954 in 2025 (CAGR > 30%)—and reveal a clear thematic transition from early electrochemistry-dominated research toward extraction, pharmaceutical, and environmental applications, with machine-learning-assisted design and hydrophobic DES formulations emerging as the most dynamic current frontiers. China leads global output with 6819 publications (38.4%), while the United States and Malaysia achieve the highest citation-per-publication ratios among the leading nations (≈46.7 and ≈38.9, respectively, versus ≈27.6 for China), and Spain pairs a comparatively modest output with a high h-index, indicating that impact is large relative to volume. Type III DESs and NADESs collectively account for approximately 69% of the literature, with choline chloride present in 72% of reported formulations. The global DES market, valued at approximately USD 166 million in 2024, is projected to reach USD 370 million by 2030. Despite this progress, critical translational barriers persist: fewer than 0.3% of publications include techno-economic or life cycle assessment analysis, standardized characterization protocols remain absent, and toxicological datasets are systematically incomplete. This panoramic analysis is intended to serve as an evidence-based reference for researchers prioritizing future directions, for funding agencies assessing the maturity and needs of the field, and for industrial stakeholders evaluating the readiness of DES technologies for scale-up. This study presents a bibliometric review of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications in Industrial Engineering, based on a literature search covering the period 2010–2025. Scopus and Web of Science yielded 2137 initial records, of which 1702 came from Scopus and 435 from Web of Science. After removing duplicates and applying exclusion criteria based on document type, language, and publication period, the final dataset consisted of 247 peer-reviewed journal articles. The analysis was conducted using Bibliometrix 5.3.0 in R 4.6.0, focusing on scientific production, source distribution, authorship patterns, country and institutional contributions, citation impact, and thematic evolution. The results show a sustained increase in scientific production on GIS applications in Industrial Engineering, especially after 2018, with recurring topics related to supply chain management, logistics, facility location, optimization, spatial analysis, sustainability, pollution, and environmental impact. The thematic structure indicates that GIS, supply chain management, and optimization management form the basic themes of the field, while impact appears as a motor theme. Overall, the findings show that GIS has evolved into a strategic tool for operational optimization, sustainable planning, and data-driven industrial decision-making. Full article
