Background/Objectives: This study explores the perspectives of mental health professionals on tailoring the Mentis Plus intervention to enhance positive mental health (PMH) in individuals experiencing First-Episode Psychosis (FEP). Although the Mentis Plus Program has been previously implemented in other contexts, it has not yet been applied to FEP care. Therefore, this study aimed to adapt the intervention for future implementation through expert consultation. Methods: A qualitative exploratory-descriptive design was employed. Data were collected via three focus groups comprising multidisciplinary professionals experienced in FEP care. Qualitative content analysis was used to examine the data. Results: Participants viewed the tailored Mentis Plus intervention as a valuable, recovery-oriented tool. Key recommendations included a flexible, group-based format with eight weekly sessions. Suggested intervention components encompassed gratitude journaling, emotional regulation techniques, and collaborative problem-solving exercises. Group delivery was highlighted as essential for mitigating isolation and promoting peer support. Practical implementation strategies included phased session structures and routine emotional check-ins. Identified barriers to implementation included the need for specialized training, limited therapeutic spaces, and the heterogeneity of participant needs. Facilitators included a person-centered approach, institutional backing, and sufficient resources. Conclusions: The findings support the feasibility and clinical relevance of a tailored Mentis Plus FEP Program—Brief Version. Expert-informed insights provide a foundation for adapting mental health interventions to early-psychosis care and inform future research and implementation strategies. Full article

Diverging from conventional dephosphorization approaches, this study employs a novel pre-reduction and smelting separation (PR-SS) to efficiently co-recover iron and phosphorus from high-phosphorus oolitic iron ore, directly yielding Fe–P alloy, and the Fe–P alloy shows potential as feedstock for high-phosphorus weathering steel or wear-resistant cast iron, indicating promising application prospects. Using oolitic magnetite concentrate (52.06% Fe, 0.37% P) as feedstock, optimized conditions including pre-reduction at 1050 °C for 2 h with C/Fe mass ratio of 2, followed by smelting separation at 1550 °C for 20 min with 5% coke, produced a metallic phase containing 99.24% Fe and 0.73% P. Iron and phosphorus recoveries reached 99.73% and 99.15%, respectively. EPMA microanalysis confirmed spatial correlation between iron and phosphorus in the metallic phase, with undetectable phosphorus signals in vitreous slag. This evidence suggests preferential phosphorus enrichment through interfacial mass transfer along the pathway of the slag phase to the metal interface and finally the iron matrix, forming homogeneous Fe–P solid solutions. The phosphorus migration mechanism involves sequential stages: apatite lattice decomposition liberates reactive P2O5 under SiO2/Al2O3 influence; slag–iron interfacial co-reduction generates Fe3P intermediates; Fe3P incorporation into the iron matrix establishes stable solid solutions. Background: Anhedonia, defined as the diminished capacity to experience pleasure, represents a core negative symptom in first-episode psychosis (FEP) with profound implications for functional outcomes and long-term prognosis. Despite its clinical significance, comprehensive understanding of anhedonia prevalence, underlying mechanisms, and optimal intervention strategies in early psychosis remains limited. Objectives: To systematically examine the prevalence and characteristics of anhedonia in FEP patients, explore neurobiological mechanisms, identify clinical correlates and predictive factors, and evaluate intervention efficacy. Methods: Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we conducted comprehensive searches across PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, and Web of Science databases from January 1990 to June 2025. Studies examining anhedonia and negative symptoms in FEP patients (≤24 months from onset) using validated assessment instruments were included. Quality assessment was performed using appropriate tools for study design. Results: Twenty-one studies comprising 3847 FEP patients met inclusion criteria. Anhedonia prevalence ranged from 30% at 10-year follow-up to 53% during acute phases, demonstrating persistent motivational deficits across illness trajectory. Factor analytic studies consistently supported five-factor negative symptom models with anhedonia as a discrete dimension. Neuroimaging investigations revealed consistent alterations in reward processing circuits, including ventral striatum hypofunction and altered network connectivity patterns. Social anhedonia demonstrated stronger associations with functional outcomes compared to other domains. Epigenetic mechanisms involving oxytocin receptor methylation showed gender-specific associations with anhedonia severity. Conventional antipsychotic treatments showed limited efficacy for anhedonia improvement, while targeted psychosocial interventions demonstrated preliminary promise. Conclusions: Anhedonia showed high prevalence (30–53%) across FEP populations with substantial clinical burden (13-fold increased odds vs. general population). Meta-analysis revealed large effect sizes for anhedonia severity in FEP vs. controls (d = 0.83) and strong negative correlations with functional outcomes (r =·−0.82). Neuroimaging demonstrated consistent ventral striatum dysfunction and altered network connectivity. Social anhedonia emerged as the strongest predictor of functional outcomes, with independent suicide risk associations. Conventional antipsychotics showed limited efficacy, while behavioral activation approaches demonstrated preliminary promise. These findings support anhedonia as a distinct treatment target requiring specialized assessment and intervention protocols in early psychosis care. Full article

Plains River networks are important natural ecosystems that play a vital role in storing, draining, conserving, and purifying water. This study selected the river network in the northern plain of Jiaxing as the research area. Samples were collected in October 2023. Sediments were collected using a sampler and divided into five layers according to the collection depth, namely the surface layer (5 cm), the second layer (15 cm), the third layer (25 cm), the fourth layer (35 cm), and the bottom layer (45 cm). This study analyzed the vertical distribution of each form of phosphorus, the vertical distribution of the microbial community, and the response between the two in the sediments of this plain river network. The results showed high sediment TP concentrations (633.9–2534.7 mg/kg) in this plain river network. The vertical distribution trend of Fe-P was almost the same as that of TP and had the highest concentration (134.9–1860.1 mg/kg). Ca-P is the second highest phosphorus content, which is also an inert phosphorus component, as well as Al-P, and both exhibit a relatively low percentage of surface layers. Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Actinobacteria showed heterogeneity in the vertical distribution of sediments. The river network sediments in the Plains River have a high potential for phosphorus release, with most sites acting as phosphorus “sources”. The sediments in the second of these layers show a strong tendency to release phosphorus. Bottom sediments have a low capacity to both adsorb and release phosphorus. The findings of this study will provide a theoretical foundation for the prevention and management of river networks in this plain. Full article

Background: Klebsiella variicola is a Gram-negative, capsulated, nonmotile, facultative anaerobic rod. It is one of the species belonging to the K. pneumoniae complex. The objective of this study was to gain insights into the antimicrobial resistance and virulence of K. variicola strains isolated from clinical samples from oncologic patients. Methods: Strain identification was performed using a mass spectrometry method. Whole genome sequencing was conducted for all analyzed strains. Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined using an automated method. The presence of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and genes encoding extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL) was assessed using the double-disc synergy test and genotypic methods. Results: All isolates were identified as K. variicola using mass spectrometry and whole genome sequencing (WGS). All isolates were ESBL-positive, and two of them harbored the blaCTX-M-15 gene. In our study, the blaLEN-17 gene was detected in all strains. Genome sequence analysis of the K. variicola isolates revealed the presence of virulence factor genes, including entAB, fepC, ompA, ykgK, and yagWXYZ. Two different plasmids, IncFIB(K) and IncFII, were identified in all of the analyzed K. variicola strains. The detected virulence factors suggest the ability of the bacteria to survive in the environment and infect host cells. All isolates demonstrated in vitro susceptibility to carbapenems. Conclusions: Further studies are needed to confirm whether multidrug-resistant K. variicola strains represent an important pathogen in infections among oncologic patients. Full article

Sternal bursitis is an underexplored lesion in poultry, often overlooked in microbiological diagnostics. In this study, we characterized 36 Escherichia coli isolates recovered from sternal bursitis in broiler chickens, combining phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing, PCR-based screening, and whole genome sequencing (WGS). The genetic analysis revealed a diverse population spanning 15 sequence types, including ST155, ST201, and ST58. Resistance to tetracycline and ciprofloxacin was common, and several isolates carried genes encoding β-lactamases, including blaTEM-1B. Chromosomal mutations associated with quinolone and fosfomycin resistance (e.g., gyrA p.S83L, glpT_E448K) were also identified. WGS revealed a high number of virulence-associated genes per isolate (58–96), notably those linked to adhesion (fim, ecp clusters), secretion systems (T6SS), and iron acquisition (ent, fep, fes), suggesting strong pathogenic potential. Many isolates harbored virulence markers typical of ExPEC/APEC, such as iss, ompT, and traT, even in the absence of multidrug resistance. Our findings suggest that E. coli from sternal bursitis may act as reservoirs of resistance and virulence traits relevant to animal and public health. This highlights the need for including such lesions in genomic surveillance programs and reinforces the importance of integrated One Health approaches. Full article

Introduction: The usefulness of neuroimaging in patients with first-episode psychosis (FEP) remains controversial. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and types of structural abnormalities on neuroimaging in patients with FEP and identify the most frequently used imaging modalities in a real-world setting. Methodology: A retrospective observational study based on a consecutive series of patients admitted to our institution with FEP was conducted. We analyzed the imaging tests performed, the presence of specific lesions, the degree of cortical atrophy (Global Cortical Atrophy, GCA scale), medial temporal atrophy (Medial Temporal lobe Atrophy, MTA scale) and non-specific white matter lesions (Fazekas scale). Descriptive and bivariate analyses were performed according to previously established age cut-offs. Results: A total of 105 patients were included (median age: 36 years; 52.4% men). The most frequently used neuroimaging test was computed tomography (CT) (92.4%). GCA scores that were out of the age range were found in 32.4% of patients, being more frequent in those older than 65 years (p < 0.001). Out-of-range MTA scores were found in 36.2% of patients, especially in patients older than 75 years (p < 0.001). Out-of-range Fazekas scores were found in 4.3% of patients, especially in patients older than 70 years (p = 0.157). Finally, only one specific structural lesion (right frontal cavernoma) was identified in one patient (1%). Overall, at least one non-age-matched abnormality was found in 46.7% of patients. Conclusions: Although non-specific alterations not in accordance with age exist in a significant percentage of patients with FEP, the prevalence of specific lesions is very low. This suggests that neuroimaging tests could be restricted in patients with FEP, especially CT, due to the risks associated with ionizing radiation. However, further prospective and controlled studies are needed to validate our results. Full article

Contact electrification (CE), or triboelectrification, is an electron transfer phenomenon occurring at the interface between dissimilar materials due to differences in polarity, holding significant research value in tribology. The microscopic mechanisms of CE remain unclear due to the complex coupling of multiple physical processes. Recently, with the rise of triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) technology, solid–liquid contact electrification has demonstrated vast application potential, sparking considerable interest in its underlying mechanisms. Emerging experimental evidence indicates that at water–polymer CE interfaces, the process involves not only traditional ion adsorption but also electron transfer. Halogen-containing functional groups in the solid material significantly enhance the CE effect. To elucidate the microscopic mechanism of water–polymer CE, this study employed first-principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations, simulating the interfacial electrification process using unit cell models of water contacting polymers. We systematically and quantitatively investigated the charge transfer characteristics at interfaces between water and three representative polymers with similar backbones but different halogen-functionalized (F, Cl) side chains: fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), focusing on evaluating halogen’s influence and mechanism on interfacial electron transfer. The results reveal that electron transfer is primarily governed by the energy levels of the polymer’s lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) and highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO). Halogen functional groups modulate the material’s electron-donating/accepting capabilities by altering these frontier orbital energy levels. Consequently, we propose that the critical strategy for polymer chemical modification resides in lowering the LUMO energy level of electron-accepting materials. This study provides a novel theoretical insight into the charge transfer mechanism at solid–liquid interfaces, offers guidance for designing high-performance TENG interfacial materials, and holds significant importance for both the fundamental theory and the development of advanced energy devices. Social media influencers have made materialism more accessible and desirable, shaping how followers view success, self-worth, and consumption. This study investigates the influence of materialistic messages promoted by lifestyle influencers on their followers’ emotions, self-concept, and consumer behavior, using Symbolic Interactionism as the theoretical framework. The research addresses three key questions: motivations for follower engagement, emotional effects of materialistic content, and how such messages appear to influence purchasing decisions. Using a qualitative approach, the study focuses on 15 Malaysian young adults who actively engage with lifestyle influencers. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis framework. Six key themes emerged: (1) admiration and aspiration; (2) feelings of inadequacy and envy; (3) rationalization of impulsive purchases; (4) symbolic consumption and self-identity; (5) emotional ambivalence; and (6) distancing and self-regulation. The findings suggest that influencers serve not only as marketing agents but as symbolic figures whose lifestyles become templates for success and self-worth. Participants engaged with this content in emotionally complex ways, simultaneously admiring and resisting the ideals presented. Their consumption behaviors appeared to be shaped by perceived social meanings attached to material goods. The study provides implications for media literacy programs, influencer marketing practices, and platform-level interventions that consider the emotional and identity-based dimensions of materialistic consumption. Excessive application of phosphate fertilizers exacerbates water pollution, while the low phosphorus availability in acidic soils results in diminished phosphorus utilization efficiency of crops. This study conducted a maize pot experiment to investigate the effects of soybean fermentation broth value-added phosphorus fertilizer (SFB-VAPF) on soil phosphorus availability and microbial communities in acidic lateritic red soils during the 31-day seedling stage to determine its growth promotion efficacy. Conducted in Guangzhou, China, under greenhouse conditions, the experimental design comprised 11 treatments: CK (no fertilizer), treatments with P alone at two levels (0.05 and 0.15 g·kg−1), and eight SFB-VAPF treatments combining each P level with four dilutions of soybean fermentation broth (SFB; 100-, 300-, 500-, and 700-fold dilutions). Each treatment had five replications. Application of SFB-VAPF significantly improved the soil chemical attributes, enzyme activities, and promoted maize growth and nutrient accumulation. Compared to the high-P treatments (0.15 g·kg−1 P), low-P SFB-VAPF demonstrated superior enhancement of the soil organic matter (SOM), available nutrients, maize biomass, and nutrient accumulation. The treatment combining 0.05 g·kg−1 P and 100-fold diluted SFB significantly increased the acid phosphatase activity (ACP) by 28.01% and the AP content by 69.63%, while achieving the highest maize biomass. Although SFB-VAPF application reduced the microbial species richness, the combinations of low P with high SFB and high P with low SFB enhanced both the community structural diversity and distribution evenness. SFB-VAPF application reduced the abundance of Alphaproteobacteria, while the Gammaproteobacteria abundance significantly increased in the low-P SFB-VAPF groups. The microbial beta diversity analysis demonstrated that combining 0.05 g·kg−1 P with SFB significantly altered the microbial community structure. The key driving factors included soil EC and SOM, AP, Al-P, and Fe-P contents, with AP content exerting an extremely significant influence on the bacterial community composition and structure (p ≤ 0.001). This study demonstrates that SFB-VAPF enhances soil phosphorus availability, and improves the structural diversity and distribution evenness of microbial communities, thereby promoting crop growth. Critically, SFB synergistically enhances the efficiency of low-concentration phosphorus fertilizers. Full article

Introduction: This study aimed to explore the clinical and psychosocial characteristics associated with functional non-remission in young adults involuntarily hospitalized for a first episode of psychosis (FEP), focusing on the role of duration of untreated psychosis (DUP) and contextual vulnerabilities. Material and method: We conducted a retrospective monocentric study including 123 patients aged 18–30 who were involuntarily admitted between 2013 and 2023 for a first psychotic episode. Sociodemographic, clinical, and care-related data were extracted from medical records. Functional remission was defined as a Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) score ≥70 at discharge. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were used to identify predictors of functional non-remission. Results: Only 48.8% of patients achieved functional remission at discharge. Social isolation, low socioeconomic status, unemployment, lack of structured activities, and a DUP ≥ 4 weeks were significantly associated with functional non-remission. After multivariate logistic regressions, DUP ≥ 4 weeks remained an independent predictor of functional non-remission. Conclusions: Involuntary admission per se was not a direct predictor of poor outcome. Our findings highlight the critical role of prolonged DUP and psychosocial vulnerability in the trajectory of early psychosis. Early detection strategies, psychosocial support integration, and individualized care planning are essential to improve outcomes among young people experiencing FEP under compulsory admission. Economic Policy Uncertainty and China’s FDI Inflows: Moderating Effects of Financial Development and Political Stability

This paper investigates the impact of global EPU and China’s EPU on China’s FDI inflows, examining whether financial development and political stability moderate these relationships. Using panel data from 212 countries spanning 2009 to 2022, we first establish causal direction through Granger causality tests, then employ instrumental variable estimation to address endogeneity concerns, while conducting heterogeneity analysis across development levels and Belt and Road Initiative participation. We find that both global and domestic EPU significantly reduce China’s FDI inflows, with a 1% increase in China’s EPU leading to a 0.083% decrease in FDI inflows. However, political stability and financial development serve as effective moderators, reducing EPU’s negative impact by up to 60% and 70%, respectively. The effects vary substantially across investor countries: non-developed countries show ten times stronger sensitivity to EPU than developed countries, while Belt and Road Initiative countries demonstrate 86% lower sensitivity than non-BRI countries. This research advances EPU–FDI theory by demonstrating how institutional quality creates “policy buffers” against uncertainty and provides policymakers with evidence that strengthening political stability and financial development can maintain investor confidence during uncertain periods, while strategic international partnerships can insulate investment flows from policy volatility. Friston proposed the Minimum Free Energy Principle (FEP) based on the Variational Bayesian (VB) method. This principle emphasizes that the brain and behavior coordinate with the environment, promoting self-organization. However, it has a theoretical flaw, a possibility of being misunderstood, and a limitation (only likelihood functions are used as constraints). This paper first introduces the semantic information G theory and the R(G) function (where R is the minimum mutual information for the given semantic mutual information G). The G theory is based on the P-T probability framework and, therefore, allows for the use of truth, membership, similarity, and distortion functions (related to semantics) as constraints. Based on the study of the R(G) function and logical Bayesian Inference, this paper proposes the Semantic Variational Bayesian (SVB) and the Maximum Information Efficiency (MIE) principle. Theoretic analysis and computing experiments prove that RG = FH(X|Y) (where F denotes VFE, and H(X|Y) is Shannon conditional entropy) instead of F continues to decrease when optimizing latent variables; SVB is a reliable and straightforward approach for latent variables and active inference. This paper also explains the relationship between information, entropy, free energy, and VFE in local non-equilibrium and equilibrium systems, concluding that Shannon information, semantic information, and VFE are analogous to the increment of free energy, the increment of exergy, and physical conditional entropy. The MIE principle builds upon the fundamental ideas of the FEP, making them easier to understand and apply. It needs to combine deep learning methods for wider applications. Full article

Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Associated with Risk of Urosepsis—Genetic, Proteomic, and Metabolomic Studies

In the absence of fully effective therapies and preventive strategies against the development of urosepsis, a deeper understanding of the virulence mechanisms of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) strains is needed. UPEC strains employ a wide range of virulence factors (VFs) to persist in the urinary tract and bloodstream. UPEC strains were isolated from patients with sepsis and a control group without sepsis. PCR was used to detect 36 genes encoding various groups of virulence and fitness factors. Profiling of both intracellular and extracellular bacterial proteins was also included in our approach. Bacterial metabolites were identified and quantified using GC-MS and LC-MS techniques. The UpaG autotransporter, a trimeric E. coli AT adhesin, was significantly more prevalent in urosepsis strains (p = 0.00001). Iron uptake via aerobactin and the Iha protein also appeared to be predictive of urosepsis (p = 0.03 and p = 0.002, respectively). While some studies suggest an association between S fimbriae and the risk of urosepsis, we observed no such correlation (p = 0.0001). Proteomic and metabolomic analyses indicated that elevated levels of bacterial citrate, malate, coenzyme Q10, pectinesterase (YbhC), and glutamate transport proteins, as well as the regulators PhoP two-component system, CpxR two-component system, Nitrate/nitrite response regulator protein NarL, and the Ferrienterobactin receptor FepA, may play a role in sepsis. These genetic biomarkers, proteins, and metabolites derived from UPEC could potentially serve as indicators for assessing the risk of developing sepsis. Full article

In this paper, we propose the threshold successive cancellation flip (Th-SCF) decoding algorithm for polar codes, which enhances the performance of the SC decoder while maintaining low complexity. Theoretical analysis reveals that Th-SCF asymptotically delays the first error position (FEP, the first part where the SC decoder fails) with probability 1, ensuring high decoding performance. Simulation results show that the Th-SCF algorithm achieves performance comparable to the dynamic SC flip (D-SCF) algorithm, but with a reduction in complexity by eliminating the need for sorting operations. A key contribution of this work is the rigorous theoretical framework supporting the Th-SCF algorithm, distinguishing it from existing SC flip (SCF) decoding methods. This theoretical foundation not only explains the performance improvements but also provides insights into the underlying mechanisms of flipping. The proposed Th-SCF algorithm demonstrates strong performance across a wide range of code lengths and rates, and its performance remains stable within a certain threshold range, indicating its practical applicability in real-world communication systems. These results offer valuable perspectives for the design of efficient flip decoding strategies in 5G and future networks. Full article
