Dear Colleagues,
A warm welcome from the editorial team of this Special Issue of Water. Water (H2O) is an integral and essential part of life in the biosphere, and this journal explores essential research aspects of water, covering areas such as resource management, governance, scarcity, food risk, water quality, recycling and more. In its wide scope, the current Special Issue will focus on developments in optical and electrochemical sensing platforms for water quality and contamination. Aquatic pollution is a major global concern that causes water scarcity, food risk, and health risks to all living species. Key aquatic pollutants range from organic aromatics, organometallics, heavy metals, plastics and drugs to organic and inorganic fertilizers, pesticides, etc. There is, therefore, an immense need to develop straightforward and economical analytical platforms for the rapid analysis of water quality, for the present and the future. The scope of this Special Issue is to promote novel optical and electroanalytical platforms proposed for assaying water quality in environmental and food samples. With this scope, we are inviting original papers and mini-reviews tackling novel research ideas and sustainable commercial values for publication in this Special Issue

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
