Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Since the beginning of the 21st century, the important contribution of the fisheries and aquaculture sector to global food security and nutrition has been increasingly recognized. Water quality safety in aquaculture is key to ensuring the quality of aquatic products. In addition, the environmental risks that are caused by the discharge of aquaculture tail water have also become a key issue restricting the healthy development of aquaculture. This Special Issue focuses on the safety of aquaculture water. The thematic areas covered include, but are not limited to, the following: the pollution characteristics of typical aquaculture water bodies, the construction and evaluation of aquaculture water quality models, physical/chemical/biological control technologies of the water environment during aquaculture, and purification technology of aquaculture tail water. The purpose of this Special Issue is to establish a theoretical and practical framework for environmental security in aquaculture water in order to meet the growing global demand for aquatic product safety.
The difference between this Special Issue and the existing literature is that it focuses on the environmental safety of water that is used in the aquaculture industry. This will directly affect the healthy development of the aquaculture industry and is also an effective strategy to deal with the global water pollution and food crises.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
