Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Many cities and communities have made efforts to capitalize on the recent innovative technological instrumentation for the enhancement of urban development and prosperity. Around the world, smart city landscapes are shaped by the urban development stages (growing or shrinking), local characteristics, and priorities. This Special Issue reinforces discussions about the integration of state-of-the-art geoinformation technologies and data as emerging resources to study and understand neighborhood dynamics for building healthy and inclusive communities.

This Special Issue welcomes contributions worldwide that engage the leading-edge ‘smart’ technology and data to drive positive and desirable city and neighborhood changes on housing and neighborhood development, public services, transportation, and public participation to foster and preserve neighborhood vitality, such as, but not limited to:

  • Information and communications technology (ICT) applications;
  • Big data representation and visualization;
  • Big data and information models and the adoption of open standards.
