Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Apart from being buzzwords, Industry 4.0, Internet 3.0 and the newly Sustainability 2.0 are paradigm shifts for the business world. Substantial volumes of data (aka Big Data), blockchain, mobile transactions, measures to reduce environmental impact and climate change are all elements to be considered by a company trying to stay on the market for a medium to long time.

Today’s business environment faces a new challenge to develop both the capability and the capacity to understand and interpret all these elements coming from a world of algorithms. How does the business world with all its shades of grey fit into a paradigm of 1s and 0s? There is a steady pressure on companies to be resilient and competitive, by employing all tools at their disposal in order to be innovative, implement resilient business models and provide value to shareholders and stakeholders.

The Special Issue focuses on the way the technology is shaping up the narrative regarding resilience, from risk management (in an operational perspective) to environmental sustainability. The focus is on either technological solutions or shifts in business models, stemmed from innovations, which may lead to an increased resilience in organizations worldwide.
