Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Industrial production requires the use of many and very diverse technologies, equipment and raw materials to be able to convert raw materials into products ready for consumption. The entire production process must be carried out under supervision. The choice of all technological and operational needs must follow fairly rigorous standards in order to avoid economic, social and environmental consequences that can harm the sustainable development of organizations, regardless of their size. The rigor of companies is not always there. Also, the choice, integration and use of new technologies, equipment or products are still not well enough studied. In addition, the management of the different phases of industrial projects is not perfect and the prioritization of certain economic interests can dominate over other essential aspects such as health, safety and well-being at work. Organizations, even with sophisticated structures, face significant risks and uncertainties at all levels from development to operations. The identification, evaluation and control of all these hazards are very difficult problems to solve in the context of sustainable development. This special issue will focus on recent research and applications concerning the sustainable development of industrial organizations around the world. This special issue is oriented towards the socio-economic evaluation of industrial projects, the management of risks and uncertainties, the analysis of the repercussions related to the choice of technologies, equipment, processes or raw materials, the analysis of the value chain, industrial portfolio management and other related topics.
