The development and application of new-generation information technology, such as big data and artificial intelligence, have provided strong support for sustainable development. Computer technology has led the third scientific and technological revolution and effected great development worldwide. The new generation of digital technology is leading the fourth scientific and technological revolution in the entire industry and is bringing sustainable and higher-quality development to the world.
In terms of enterprises, the development and application of the new generation of information technology not only promotes the development of enterprises, but also a change of their management modes. The use of the new generation of information technology for improving sustainable development ability has become the main subject of enterprise development and innovation. Enterprises can develop and utilize various information resources through digitalization and intelligence and use this as a means to promote research and development, production and management to a higher level. This will play a vital role in enhancing participation in the global market competition and improving economic efficiency and sustainable development ability.
We hope this Special Issue in Sustainability will provide an advanced forum for research related to the applications of big data and artificial intelligence in sustainable development.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- The application of new-generation information technology in sustainable development;
- The application of big data in sustainable development;
- The application of artificial intelligence in sustainable development;
- Green supply chain management;
- Any other areas related to this Special Issue.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
