Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The proposed Special Issue, Sustainable Logistics 4.0, aims to address the intersection of advanced digital technologies and sustainable logistics practices within the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Industry 4.0, characterized by integrating cyber–physical systems, IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence, is transforming traditional logistics operations, offering new opportunities and challenges for achieving sustainability goals in economic, environmental, and social dimensions.

As sustainable development and the circular economy gain prominence, sustainable logistics has attracted significant attention from both researchers and industry professionals worldwide. This growing emphasis compels companies to not only strengthen their economic competitiveness but also to prioritize the environmental impact and social responsibility of their logistics operations.

This Special Issue will explore how emerging technologies can support the development of sustainable logistics systems, optimize resource use, and drive innovation in supply chains. Key topics include smart logistics, sustainable supply chain management, digitalization for green logistics, circular economy approaches, and the impact of Industry 4.0 on logistics resilience and adaptability. This Special Issue will also address the implications of recent global disruptions, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which have highlighted the need for more robust, flexible, competitive, and sustainable logistics networks. The overarching aim is to contribute to the discussion of emerging challenges encountered by sustainable logistics in a new era and to present innovative solutions incorporating cutting-edge technologies and methods.

We invite original research articles, reviews, and case studies that investigate the theoretical frameworks, practical applications, and policy implications of sustainable logistics in the Industry 4.0 era. Contributions may draw from organizational theory, management science, engineering, and interdisciplinary perspectives to provide a comprehensive understanding of how digital transformation can advance sustainable development in logistics.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
