Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is time that scholars share with retailers the need to more systematically contribute to the urgent paradigm change required to embed sustainability in business models and marketing strategies. To this aim, the Special Issue will welcome papers covering a wide range of aspects related to the adoption of a sustainability perspective in the rethinking of retail marketing.

Many challenges and areas of enquiry arise from embracing sustainability in the management of the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of the retail ecosystem. They are all opportunities for progress. Accordingly, papers selected for this issue are invited to address the following (but also further) areas of enquiry:

  • The retail industry contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
  • Promoting healthy lives and equitable and sustainable wellbeing through retailing
  • Ecosystems marketing for sustainable retailing
  • Bio-economy, blue-economy, and circular economy solutions for sustainable retailing and green stores;
  • 3Rs (reduce–reuse–recycle) applications in retailing;
  • ICT solutions and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for sustainable retail marketing;
  • Service science management and engineering (SSME) applications for sustainable retail marketing;
  • Service-dominant (S-D) logic for sustainable retail marketing;
  • T-Shaped models for sustainable retailing;
  • High tech skills for sustainable retailing;
  • Educational aspects of sustainability in retail service;
  • Engaging retail customers with sustainable consumption;
  • Expanding the sustainability engagement along the supply chain;

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
