Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Digital technologies are fundamentally reshaping how firms organize operations, coordinate supply chains, manage information flows, and create sustainable value. The rapid development of information systems, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, digital platforms, blockchain, the Internet of Things, and intelligent decision-making tools has created new opportunities for improving operational efficiency, supply chain resilience, green innovation, risk management, and sustainable business transformation. At the same time, digital transformation also raises important challenges related to data security, privacy protection, algorithmic transparency, interorganizational trust, digital inequality, technology adoption, and the environmental costs of digital infrastructures.

This Special Issue, “Sustainability in the Digital Age: Synergizing Information Technology, Learning Analytics, and Digital Transformation”, aims to advance interdisciplinary research on how digital technologies enable sustainability-oriented transformation in supply chains, operations, information systems, and business ecosystems. We welcome theoretical, empirical, methodological, and review studies that examine the mechanisms, boundary conditions, and managerial implications through which digital technologies contribute to economic, environmental, and social sustainability. Particular attention will be given to studies that connect digital transformation with sustainable operations, supply chain resilience, green innovation, responsible information management, and technology-enabled organizational change.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to: digital transformation and sustainable supply chain management; information systems and sustainable operations; artificial intelligence and data analytics for green decision-making; blockchain, traceability, and supply chain transparency; digital platforms and sustainable business ecosystems; smart manufacturing and sustainable production; supply chain resilience, risk management, and crisis response in the digital age; cybersecurity, privacy protection, and responsible digital governance; big data analytics and sustainable value creation; digital technology adoption in firms and supply chains; human–technology interaction in digital operations; digital innovation and circular economy practices; interorganizational information sharing and collaborative sustainability; and the role of digital capabilities in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

We encourage submissions using diverse methods, including quantitative analysis, econometric modeling, survey research, experiments, qualitative inquiry, case studies, mixed methods, design science, bibliometric analysis, systematic literature reviews, and machine-learning-based approaches. Contributions that provide actionable implications for managers, policymakers, supply chain partners, platform operators, and technology developers are particularly welcome.
