Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global hospitality and tourism industry has undergone significant transformation in recent decades, particularly in response to mounting environmental concerns and changing consumer preferences towards sustainable practices. Scientific research has demonstrated that these sectors collectively contribute approximately 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions, primarily through transportation, facility operations, and resource consumption. This has led to a paradigm shift where sustainability has evolved from a peripheral consideration to a core business imperative. Organizations across these industries are now implementing various environmental management systems, adopting renewable energy solutions, minimizing waste through circular economy principles, and developing green building initiatives. The integration of sustainable practices not only addresses environmental challenges but also responds to the growing demand from environmentally conscious consumers, who increasingly factor sustainability into their purchasing decisions. Studies have shown that businesses implementing comprehensive sustainability programs often experience improved operational efficiency, creating a compelling business case for sustainable development in these interconnected sectors. The aim of the Special Issue is to highlight cutting-edge research and review articles that are tackling the industry’s most pressing issues.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Food Waste Management;
- Sustainable Kitchen Operations;
- Sustainable Venue Selection;
- Transportation and Logistics;
- Community Impact;
- Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience;
- AI Integration;
- Energy Management and Renewable Energy Solutions.
I look forward to receiving your contributions.
