Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The circular economy (CE) has become a crucial issue worldwide due to legal and corporate requirements. The transition from a linear to a more circular economy is an ongoing process. In the food sector, CE can be supported at the organizational level by standards developed for this purpose, such as the ISO 59000 series. Additionally, other standards and certification schemes, such as ISO 14001, GlobalG.A.P., BRC, and IFS requirements, also significantly contribute to CE or support its implementation.
Certification plays an important informational role in communication both between organizations within the supply chain and with food consumers. The implementation process and certification of the aforementioned requirements may vary significantly depending on the approach of individual organizations.
The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight the significant potential of certification and management systems in effectively supporting the implementation and communication of circular economy initiatives within the agri-food sector. This Special Issue covers research on topics such as food and environmental management system certification that supports CE, sustainable communication within the supply chain, and the credibility and trust value of these actions.
I look forward to receiving your contributions.
