Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Climate change and the hydrological variability of water’s distribution and occurrence are natural driving forces that, when combined with the pressures from economic growth and major population change, make the sustainable development of our water resources a challenge. Green water resources refer to natural resources of water that are not harmful to society. It is of the utmost importance to find remedies to properly manage water quality and ensure the availability of safe drinking water.

Water pollution, water conflict, and climate change are all threats for water resources, and, therefore, health issues relating to contemporary environmental problems are being discussed.

The world’s supply of groundwater is slowly decreasing; therefore, to improve the quality of water bodies, policy interventions pertaining to subsidence issues, water withdrawal, and saltwater intrusion are being planned by different groups.

By improving the quality of water and decreasing its contamination, there will be public health benefits.

Potential topics in water resource sustainability include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Sustainable water engineering;
  • Hydrogeomorphology and planning;
  • Water security and services;
  • The formation, distribution, circulation, evolution, and evaluation of groundwater as well as surface water resources;
  • Water environment evolution;
  • The sustainable utilization and optimal management of water resources;
  • Justice and equity in water resources;
  • Water resources’ sustainability in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
