Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, based on the World Building Congress (WBC2025), brings together cutting-edge research and practical insights on advancing sustainability in the built environment. The manuscripts accepted at WBC2025 highlight a wide range of approaches, including the adoption of digitalization and Construction 4.0 technologies, strategies for resilience in post-disaster and climate-challenged contexts, and community-centered models for sustainable urban and facility management. Together, these studies demonstrate how emerging technologies, innovative policies, and collaborative frameworks can accelerate the transition to a sustainable and resilient built environment.

This Special Issue will expand on these discussions by inviting high-quality contributions that address the integration of digital tools, resilient design and planning, and community-based sustainability approaches. Contributions may include theoretical studies, empirical research, case studies, and policy analyses that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By building on the themes of WBC2025, this Special Issue will provide a platform for advancing knowledge and practice that support sustainable, resilient, and inclusive construction and urban environments.
