Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The hospitality and tourism industry has experienced rapid technological transformation driven by digitalization, artificial intelligence, smart services, automation, and platform-based ecosystems. As service technologies increasingly shape customer experiences and operational strategies, understanding consumers’ and employees’ behavioral intentions toward emerging technologies has become an important research priority. In particular, technology intention within hospitality and tourism contexts encompasses diverse dimensions, including technology acceptance, continued usage intention, trust, perceived value, emotional responses, personalization, and human–technology interaction.

This Special Issue aims to advance the theoretical and practical understanding of service- and technology-related intentions in hospitality and tourism settings. It welcomes studies investigating consumers’, employees’, and organizations’ adoption and behavioral responses toward innovative technologies such as AI-powered services, self-service technologies, service robots, virtual and augmented reality, smart tourism systems, fintech, mobile platforms, metaverse environments, and data-driven personalization technologies. The issue also encourages interdisciplinary approaches integrating frameworks from marketing, consumer behavior, information systems, psychology, and service management.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to, technology acceptance and resistance, anthropomorphism, emotional engagement, trust formation, perceived risk and value, customer experience management, AI-enabled service interactions, sustainability-oriented technologies, digital transformation strategies, and post-adoption behaviors in hospitality and tourism environments. Both quantitative and qualitative studies, as well as conceptual and review papers, are encouraged. By providing a platform for emerging discussions on service technologies and behavioral intentions, this Special Issue seeks to contribute to the development of future hospitality and tourism ecosystems in increasingly technology-oriented environments.
