Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the rapid advancement of technology and artificial intelligence (AI), the hospitality and tourism industry is experiencing a paradigm shift. The integration of generative AI (GenAI), big data, blockchain technology, robotics, digital innovation, virtual reality (VR), and the Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming business models, enhancing customer experiences, and improving operational efficiency. As businesses strive for greater automation, personalization, and sustainability, the strategic implementation of these smart technologies is becoming increasingly vital.

Technology-driven solutions offer opportunities for real-time data analytics, predictive modeling, and automated decision-making, enabling businesses to respond dynamically to consumer behavior and market fluctuations. AI-powered service automation, intelligent virtual assistants, and robotics are reshaping hospitality services, while blockchain and cybersecurity innovations strengthen data protection and transaction transparency. Additionally, VR, AR, and the Metaverse are redefining digital interactions, enabling immersive tourism experiences and innovative marketing strategies.

Looking to the future, the continuous evolution of digital technologies will further enable businesses to enhance operational resilience, elevate service standards, and drive sustainable growth in the hospitality and tourism sector. In this context, this Special Issue on "Technology and AI in Hospitality and Tourism" invites research contributions that explore theoretical developments, empirical findings, and practical innovations at the intersection of technology, AI, and hospitality and tourism management. We encourage papers that address one or more of the following research topics:

  1. AI-driven personalization in tourism services;
  2. Smart destination management systems;
  3. Big data analytics for hospitality operations;
  4. Robotics and automation in service delivery;
  5. Blockchain for secure travel ecosystems;
  6. Immersive technologies in tourist engagement;
  7. Ethical AI and sustainable tourism practices;
  8. Workforce transformation in tech-enhanced hospitality;
  9. Disruptive digital innovations in tourism
