Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The Special Issue of Sustainable Built Environment and Green Building Design should be dedicated to the latest trends, innovative approaches, and scientific knowledge in the field of sustainable architecture and building design. The aim of this issue is to highlight the importance of environmentally responsible solutions that support healthy, energy-efficient, and high-quality indoor environments for users.

It can also focus on the issues of daylight and visual well-being, which are key aspects in the design of modern sustainable buildings. Adequate use of natural lighting can significantly reduce energy consumption, improve productivity, support psychological well-being, and overall comfort of users. In this paper, I present methods for assessing the quality of daylight, analyzing its distribution in the interior, and options for optimization through architectural and technical solutions. This area of research contributes to a better understanding of the relationship between building design, lighting conditions, and sustainability in the construction industry.

The Special Issue focuses on innovative approaches to sustainable building design, with a particular emphasis on indoor environmental quality, energy efficiency, and the integration of natural elements. The aim is to present new methods, tools, and strategies that support healthy and comfortable environments.

The content includes theoretical and applied studies, case studies, and interdisciplinary research from the fields of architecture, construction, environmental engineering, and urban planning. A special section is dedicated to the assessment of daylight, visual comfort, and their connection with sustainable design.

The purpose is to create a platform that will support the exchange of knowledge, highlight current trends, and stimulate further research towards a more efficient and humane creation of the built environment.

The Special Issue will complement the current literature by providing a comprehensive and updated perspective on the connection between sustainable design and daylight quality and visual well-being. It will offer new empirical data, methodological frameworks, and practical applications that will expand existing knowledge and provide a deeper interdisciplinary context.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
