Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, entitled "E-Learning and Educational Technologies for Sustainable Transformation of Education", examines the transformative role of e-learning and educational technologies in promoting sustainable education systems, in accordance with the global sustainability goals. It explores how technological innovations can enhance inclusivity, resilience, and equity in education to address the pressing socio-economic and environmental challenges of the 21st century. This interdisciplinary Special Issue welcomes contributions from researchers, educators, policy makers and technologists. The scope of this Special Issue includes the application of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR) and gamification, the development of inclusive learning platforms, strategies that improve digital and sustainable literacy, and case studies that highlight the role of e-learning in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically quality of education (SDG 4), reducing inequalities (SDG 10) and climate action (SDG 13). In addition, this Special Issue emphasises innovative assessment methods and pedagogical strategies. It aims to provide actionable insights into how technological advances can enhance sustainability literacy, equip learners with future-proof skills and promote systemic change in education. We therefore welcome original research articles and reviews that address topics such as inclusive teaching strategies (e.g., curriculum design, digital pedagogy and online learning models), bridging the digital divide (e.g., equitable access to tools and support for marginalised groups) and professional development initiatives for educators (e.g., training, institutional strategies and assessment frameworks). Contributions may also explore how advanced technologies promote skill development, support sustainability-oriented competencies, and prepare students to succeed in a technology-rich work environment.
