Surface Science: Polymer Thin Films, Coatings and Adhesives (2nd Edition)

Dear Colleagues,

As Guest Editor, I am delighted to invite researchers from all over the world to contribute to the second edition of this Special Issue of Surfaces, entitled ‘Surface Science: Polymer Thin Films, Coatings and Adhesives (2nd Edition)’. Following on from the success of the first edition, this new edition seeks to capture the latest breakthroughs in synthesis, characterisation and applications of advanced polymer thin films, coatings and adhesives, particularly targeting biomedical and sustainable development applications.

Submissions which focus on a broad spectrum of topics, including, but not limited to, the following, are welcome:

• Synthesis of functional polymer coatings and thin films for biomedical applications;
• Green-based adhesives and coatings;
• Smart adhesives for biomedical applications;
• New developments in thin films and coating characterisation;
• Improvement of durability of adhesives, coatings or thin films;
• Sustainability and recyclability of composites materials;
• Coatings and adhesive repair, recycling and debonding on demand;
• Environmental and ecological aspects of adhesives and coatings.

Authors are encouraged to explore how recent advances in polymer surface science address key challenges to enhance the efficiency, durability, and environmental compatibility of new functional thin films, coatings and adhesives.

The aim of this Special Issue of Surfaces, entitled ‘Surface Science: Polymer Thin Films, Coatings and Adhesives (2nd Edition)’, is to inspire and stimulate original breakthroughs related to the modification, control, tuning, and characterisation of polymer surfaces and their properties at interfaces, by hosting original research articles and short critical reviews, particularly targeting biomedical and sustainable development applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Surfaces is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
