Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Gender inequalities continue to shape educational opportunities, social trajectories, and labor market outcomes worldwide, particularly affecting women from marginalized groups. Although a substantial body of research has documented these inequalities, less attention has been paid to the systematization and analysis of evidence-based actions, educational models, organizational practices, and institutional policies that have demonstrated effectiveness in reducing gender inequalities.
This Special Issue engages with key debates in gender stratification research, intersectionality, life-course and transition studies, and labor market segmentation, in order to advance the interdisciplinary understanding of how gender inequalities are produced and can be effectively addressed.
It aims to advance the knowledge on gender inequalities across the education–work continuum, focusing on successful actions, community-based and organizational interventions, and public policy initiatives that generate social impact. In this context, successful actions are understood as actions that are identified through scientific research based on a dialogic approach with the communities and institutions involved, which achieve excellent results and can be transferred to diverse contexts. Their relevance lies in connecting scientific knowledge with social actors’ knowledge to identify actions that can contribute to improving people’s living conditions. Particular attention will be given to research examining educational contexts, including the prevention of gender-based violence, egalitarian socialization processes, and educational trajectories. The Special Issue will also examine how transitions from education to employment shape gender differences in labor market outcomes. In addition, it will explore workplace practices, organizational environments, and economic models that contribute to promoting gender equality.
We welcome empirical (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods), comparative, and theoretical contributions that deepen the understanding of the mechanisms through which gender inequalities are reproduced or overcome and that provide evidence on interventions, institutional transformations, and policies that foster more inclusive educational and labor systems.
To ensure a clear scope and avoid overlapping with related initiatives, this Special Issue focuses primarily on educational and labor market contexts beyond academic careers. Contributions addressing higher education are welcome when they explicitly connect to broader processes of social inequality, transitions, or labor market inclusion.
