Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Recent advances in power electronics and energy systems have created a strong demand for advanced sensor technologies that combine high accuracy, reliability, and often autonomous operation. Smart sensors, equipped with embedded intelligence, wireless communications, and self-diagnostics, are revolutionizing the measurement, control, and optimization of electrical, thermal, magnetic, and other parameters.
A particularly important and rapidly growing requirement is autonomous operation. Initially developed for use in remote or hard-to-reach locations, this concept is now increasingly being applied to reactors, electric drives, and compact electronic systems, eliminating the need for complex wiring and battery replacement. The combination of intelligent sensors and energy autonomy opens new perspectives for reliable, maintenance-free monitoring and intelligent control in modern energy infrastructures.
This Special Issue brings together original research and review articles on the latest advances in smart sensors, sensor networks, and autonomous sensor technologies for energy and electronic systems. Both theoretical research and experimental confirmation are welcome.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Smart sensors for power electronics and energy systems;
- Energy harvesting and self-powered sensors;
- Magnetic, thermal, current, and other sensors for diagnostics;
- Wireless and distributed sensor networks;
- Intelligent monitoring and predictive maintenance;
- Control and fault detection systems with integrated sensors.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
