Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The transition towards smarter and more resilient energy systems has ushered in a new era of technological advancements in the field of smart grids, and this Special Issue, entitled “Intelligent Sensing Solutions Enhancing Smart Grid Technologies,” aims to explore the innovative sensing solutions that are pivotal to optimizing the performance, reliability, and sustainability of smart grid systems.

As the global demand for energy continues to rise, the integration of intelligent sensing technologies is critical for achieving efficient energy management, real-time monitoring, and predictive analytics in smart grids. This Special Issue will highlight cutting-edge research and applications that leverage advanced sensing techniques, also including the Internet of Things (IoT) devices, machine learning algorithms, and data analytics to enhance grid monitoring, fault detection, and energy distribution.

We invite contributions that cover a wide range of topics including, but not limited to:

  • Novel sensor technologies and their deployment in smart grid infrastructure;
  • Data fusion and analytics techniques for real-time decision-making;
  • Cybersecurity measures for protecting sensing networks in smart grids;
  • Case studies demonstrating the impact of intelligent sensing on grid efficiency and resilience;
  • The integration of renewable energy sources and electric vehicles through advanced sensing solutions;
  • The regulatory and policy implications of adopting intelligent sensing technologies in smart grids.

By bringing together leading researchers, practitioners, and industry experts, this Special Issue aims to foster collaborative discussions and knowledge sharing that will propel the development of innovative solutions in smart grid technologies. We invite contributions of research articles or reviews that offer theoretical insights, empirical studies, and practical applications illustrating the revolutionary potential of intelligent sensing.

This Special Issue represents a crucial resource for researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers, offering evidence-based strategies for harnessing intelligent sensing technologies to improve smart grid capabilities and advance sustainable energy initiatives. By fostering collaboration and innovation, the integration of intelligent sensing systems has the potential to drive a more sustainable energy future.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
