Selected Papers from the “International Symposium on Remote Sensing 2026”
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Since 2012, the International Symposium on Remote Sensing (ISRS) has been held in the Republic of Korea, the Republic of China, and Japan. This symposium has provided a platform for researchers in East Asia and worldwide to exchange findings on the latest scientific and technological developments in surface and satellite remote sensing, data processing, environmental monitoring, disaster management, agriculture, and related applications.
The aim of this Special Issue is to showcase the latest unique scientific studies and technological developments to ISRS 2026 participants.
Suggested themes for submissions are wide-ranging, and include the following:
- Sensor/Platform and Cal/Val
- Optical, microwave, infrared and sensors, new satellite missions, SAR, Lidar, etc.
- Planetary Remote Sensing
- Exploration missions, instrument technology, geomorphology and geology, etc.
- Remote Sensing Applications
- Land, ocean, atmosphere, cryosphere, water resources, food security, climate change, public health, hazard mitigation, landslides, earthquakes, fires, volcanos, tsunamis, etc.
- Algorithm Development and Image Processing
- Data fusion and data mining, calibration and registration, classification, feature extraction, DEM/3D modeling, change detection, data compression, microwave and Lidar processing, SAR processing, etc.
- AI/ML Technology
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning, big data from space, Internet of Things (IoT), etc.
- Geographical Information Science (GIS)
- Integration of remote sensing and GIS, mobile GIS, data quality and spatial data standards, data interoperability, social media, cloud computing, etc.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
