Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of pharmaceutical chemistry is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by technological advances, a better understanding of chemical processes, and a growing commitment to sustainable practices. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current status of and prospects in pharmaceutical chemistry processes, highlighting innovative methodologies, cutting-edge research, and emerging challenges in the industry.

We invite contributions covering a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Synthesis Methodologies: innovations in synthetic techniques such as flow chemistry, solid-phase synthesis, and green chemistry principles aimed at improving efficiency while reducing waste.
  • Process Optimization: case studies and research dedicated to optimizing pharmaceutical processes to increase yields, purity, and profitability.
  • Quality by Design (QbD): the implementation of QbD principles in drug development and manufacturing to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Analytical Techniques: innovations in analytical methods for the characterization of active substances and excipients, including spectroscopy, chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
  • Biopharmaceuticals: advances in the production and characterization of biopharmaceuticals, such as monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and gene therapies.
  • Cosmetic Formulations: research into and the development of innovative formulations for cosmetic products, incorporating pharmaceutical and natural active ingredients.
  • Use of Medicinal Plants: studies on the extraction, characterization, and integration of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants into pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
  • Sustainability in Pharmacy: the exploration of environmentally friendly practices and technologies aimed at reducing the environmental impact of pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Regulatory Considerations: the analysis of changes in the regulatory framework influencing pharmaceutical chemistry processes, including guidelines and best practices.

This Special Issue aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers, highlighting the crucial role of pharmaceutical chemistry in addressing global health challenges. By highlighting current advances and future directions, we aim to encourage innovation and sustainability in pharmaceutical production, thereby contributing to the development of safe, effective, and environmentally friendly medicines and cosmetic products.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
