Emerging Trends and Advancements in Anticancer Photodynamic Therapy: Innovative Delivery Systems, Translational Insights, and Breakthroughs

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue on anticancer photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a transformative approach in cancer treatment, offering targeted therapeutic effects with minimal invasiveness. Recent advancements in photosensitizers, light delivery systems, and mechanistic insights have expanded the potential of PDT in addressing complex oncological challenges.

This Special Issue aims to showcase cutting-edge research and innovative findings in anticancer PDT, highlighting novel photosensitizers, combination therapies, and translational strategies for enhancing efficacy and overcoming resistance.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following: studies on next-generation photosensitizers, nanotechnology-based delivery systems, the role of PDT in immunomodulation, advancements in imaging-guided PDT, and preclinical and clinical outcomes. Contributions emphasizing mechanistic insights into tumor-specific targeting, the optimization of dosimetry, and PDT-induced immune responses are particularly welcome. We also encourage submissions exploring the integration of PDT with other therapeutic modalities, including photobiomodulation and chemotherapy. By gathering innovative studies, this Special Issue seeks to advance our understanding of PDT and its role in precision oncology.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
