Special Issue Information
Dear colleagues,
Pharmaceutics is excited to announce a Special Issue on "Topical Drug Delivery for Skin Diseases." Topical drug delivery plays a crucial role in the treatment of skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, dermatitis, and skin infections. Localized delivery offers the advantage of targeted action, reduced systemic side effects, and improved patient compliance. However, challenges such as low skin permeability, drug stability, and sustained release remain significant hurdles. Recent advances in formulation technologies, including liposomes, ethosomes, nanostructured lipid carriers, hydrogels, and microneedles, have demonstrated promise in enhancing drug penetration and therapeutic efficacy. This Special Issue aims to explore innovative strategies in the design, optimization, and evaluation of topical drug delivery systems, with a particular focus on overcoming skin barrier challenges, improving drug retention, and enabling controlled release.
We invite researchers and professionals in pharmaceutical sciences to submit their original research and reviews, advancing the science of topical drug delivery for effective and innovative treatments of skin diseases.
