Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Pathogens, encompassing a wide variety of bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, possess a remarkable ability to manipulate and evade the host's immune system, resulting in a multitude of infectious diseases. The complex interplay between host organisms and the multitude of pathogens they encounter presents a continual challenge to our understanding and control of infectious diseases.

This Special Issue is dedicated to the study of these complex host–pathogen interactions from a systems biology perspective. We particularly encourage contributions that utilize cutting-edge tools and methodologies, including bioinformatics, multi-omics data analysis, single cell study, predictive modeling, and computational biology, to decipher the intricate mechanisms employed by pathogens in undermining host immune responses.

The scope of this Special Issue is broad, encompassing all pathogens and their interactions with host immune cells, including but not limited to B cells. By doing so, we aim to shed light on commonalities and distinctions across various host–pathogen relationships. The insights gleaned will have implications not just for improving vaccine efficacy and therapeutic strategies but also for our fundamental understanding of the co-evolution of hosts and their pathogens.

We invite original research articles and reviews that contribute to this burgeoning field. Through this Special Issue, we hope to inspire and inform future endeavors that will enhance our abilities to combat infectious diseases and improve public health worldwide.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Pathogens is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
