Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Obesity has reached pandemic levels, driving type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and other metabolic conditions. While current lifestyle and drug therapies can produce weight loss, sustained weight control and long-term metabolic health remain difficult for many patients. This has fueled interest in "beiging" white adipose tissue—converting energy-storing white adipocytes into thermogenic beige cells. Beige adipocytes, induced by cold, exercise, diet, or hormonal signals, enhance energy expenditure and improve glucose and lipid metabolism.
This Special Issue invites original research and reviews on leveraging beiging for obesity treatment—covering nutritional bioactive components, hormonal regulators (e.g., thyroid hormones, incretins), lifestyle factors (cold, exercise, microbiome), pharmacological agents targeting β3-AR, PPARγ, or FGF21, as well as epigenetic mechanisms, human genetic variants, and clinical trials of beiging-based interventions. We welcome original articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and perspectives—especially those that translate basic discoveries into real clinical benefits. We look forward to your contributions!

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Obesities is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
