Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nanostructured Ferritic Alloys (NFAs) and Oxide Dispersion Strengthened (ODS) steels have seen very wide scientific and engineering applications due to their desirable high temperature strengths and other performance characteristics. Modern NFAs have the potential to deliver the desired high-performance characteristics where historic austenitic and ferritic/martensitic alloys fall short. Despite extensive research efforts put into the area of NFAs and ODS steels, knowledge gaps remain in understanding the fundamental aspects of these materials under various, usually extreme, conditions. Under very high temperature conditions, in highly corrosive environments and irradiation fields, the underlying physics supporting the outstanding properties of NFAs and ODS steels and technical routes to reach even better performance deserve more in-depth clarification.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a platform for researchers to share their original research outcomes and to contribute to the outstanding collection of reviews and experimental, numerical, and technical studies on the performance of NFAs and ODS steels.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • NFAs and ODS steels under high temperature;
  • Corrosion behaviors of NFAs and ODS steels;
  • NFAs and ODS steels for the next generation nuclear reactors;
  • Development of next generation of NFAs and ODS steels to reach higher performance characteristics.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
