Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The advent of graphene, along with other emerging two-dimensional (2D) materials, has revolutionized the field of optoelectronics due to their unique electric and optical properties. In particular, these 2D materials have been demonstrated to exhibit a plethora of exciting optical phenomena in a wide-ranged spectral region from near infrared to terahertz, such as surface plasmon resonance, Fano resonance, plasmon induced transparency, Rabbi splitting, second harmonic generation, third harmonic generation, high harmonic generation, Kerr effect, etc. Combined with the gate tunability, various kinds of active optoelectronic devices with unprecedented functionalities also have been developed, including photodetectors, sensors, absorbers, modulators, optical switcher, polarizers, isolators, photovoltaics, light-emitting devices, etc. This Special Issue aims to explore the latest advancements in understanding these novel optical phenomena exhibited by 2D materials, particularly in graphene, as well as other two-dimensional materials such as transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), h-BN, black phosphorus, borophene, etc. and their heterostructures. Furthermore, this Special Issue seeks to highlight the integration of these novel optical phenomena with device concepts for the design and fabrication of advanced optoelectronic devices. We hope that this collection of papers can inspire further research and collaboration in this field.

We look forward to receiving your contributions, including both research and review articles, that cover recent advances, unresolved problems, and cutting-edge results in this area. We welcome both theoretical investigations and experimental demonstrations.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
