Young Investigator Award

Dear Colleagues,

The evaluation committee, consisting of several members of the Editorial Board of the Nanomaterials, is pleased to announce the winners of the Nanomaterials 2020 Young Investigator Award. Since the nominees were very impressive, the journal has decided to give three awards: Dr. Ya Yang will receive an honorarium of 2000 CHF. Both Dr. Loredana Protesescu and Dr. João Conde will receive an honorarium of 800 CHF. All of them are with an offer to publish a paper free of charge before 31 December 2021 in Nanomaterials after peer-review, and an engraved plaque.

Dr. Ya Yang is an Professor of the Department of Materials Physics and Chemistry (Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China). Dr. Ya Yang’s research interests are in the ferroelectric nanomaterials and devices, hybridized and coupled nanogenerators, ferro-pyro-phototronic devices, and thermo-phototronic devices. Dr. Ya Yang received his PhD in 2011 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 180 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Ya Yang’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 10,000 and his Hirsch index is 61.

Dr. João Conde is an Associate Professor (under assessment) of the NOVA Medical School, (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal). Dr. João Conde’s research interests are in the cancer nanomedicine, nanotechnology and materials science, biomedical engineering, multifunctional nanomaterials for cancer therapy and diagnostics – nanotheranostics, biofunctionalization of nanoparticles with DNA/RNA, siRNA/miRNA, drugs, fluorescent dyes, polymers, proteins/peptides and antibodies. Dr. João Conde received his PhD in 2014 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 70 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. João Conde’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 4,500 and his Hirsch index is 36.

Dr. Loredana Protesescu is an Associate Professor (under assessment) of the Faculty of Science and Engineering Materials Chemistry (University of Groningen, Groningen, Netherlands). Dr. Loredana Protesescu’s research interests are novel colloidal nano-materials, to develop synthetic strategies and to study their structural particularities and their surface chemistry in a relationship with their properties and potential applications in energy, extreme environment, bio-applications. Dr. Loredana Protesescu received her PhD in 2016 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 49 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Loredana Protesescu’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 9,353 and her Hirsch index is 31.

We would like to thank all the nominators from various fields of study for their participation and all the Award Committee Members for their evaluation of the abundant excellent nominations.
