Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past three decades, we have faced numerous respiratory infection epidemics. The most recent pandemic, COVID-19, has clearly demonstrated the necessity of being prepared to respond effectively to the emergence or re-emergence of respiratory pathogens that could have devastating effects on lives and livelihoods worldwide. We need to be aware that respiratory infections know no borders and that we all live in a fast-moving and interconnected world.

A wide range of multifaceted interventions to control and prevent respiratory infections require the involvement of multidisciplinary experts, taking into account human, animal, and environmental drivers of infection. As the world continues to face the threat of emerging or re-emerging respiratory microorganisms, the role of public health authorities in controlling outbreaks is more important than ever.

This Special Issue is dedicated to addressing the urgent challenge posed by the high burden of respiratory infections and related morbidity and mortality. As a Guest Editor of this Special Issue, you are invited to submit perspective articles, original research articles, review articles, and short communications that address new developments in the understanding, management, and prevention of respiratory infections. Your contribution to this Special Issue by sharing your valuable research and insights will help advance our collective knowledge and response strategies in the permanent fight against respiratory infections.
